I like the $3 Russell bill that Comments From the Friends used to print. It had Russell's picture on the front and his pyramid on the back. The logo said that "the Watchtower was as phoney as a three dollar bill." When I attended a DC back in 89 I dropped a few in the contribution boxes. The JW money changers must have thought the apostates had infiltrated the convention.

That ribbon looks like it was from a Laymen's Home Missionary Movement convention. They hold their yearly conventions in Pennsylvania and still use the Cross and Crown symbol. This group was founded by Paul S. L. Johnson who broke with Rutherford in 1917. They publish The Bible Standard and The Present Truth magazines. They have a website so this should be easy to research.
Rutherford banned the Cross and Crown from Watchtower publications in the early 1930s.

Are you happier out of the org?
by dobbie inhi everyone i was just wondering if those of you that have left the org for whatever reason, have found your'e much happier than when you were in it?probably a daft question but i tried to talk to a friend about how i was feeling about a few things and why i don't go to meetings and she said would i really be any happier out than in?it just got me thinking about why i joined in the first place, because i was lonely and down, although i still am several years later it seems!have you found life better on the outside?did you feel a sense of freedom or was it really hard to adjust?when i try to explain what i find hard in the religion they can always say something back that then makes me think i was wrong in the first place and it is the truth after all - aagh!

Disassociate or "Fade"
by done4good ini know this has probably been discussed before, but i would like to take a poll of your thoughts as to what you personally would do, disassociate yourself or just fade over time.
i've been in the process of "fading" myself since november of last year, (last meeting in january, and never going back).
i have been considering making it official though by formal letter of da.

Fade if you can get away with it.

The New Jerusalem Bible and the Revised English Bible are good translations. Regarding churches, find one that you feel comfortable with.

they can't get it all done anymore
by truman ini had a door-to-door visit from two jws yesterday morning.
the first in a long time (with the exception of the obligatory memorial invite).
i live in a fairly small town, but these two, i did not recognize.

The city I used to live in had 8 congregations. Yet during the 11 years I lived there the JWs only called at my door 2 times. I've lived in my current home for almost 4 years and there are 2 congregations in this city. Yet I've never seen the JWs in our neighborhood. Guess the need must be great everywhere now. Maybe the JWs should start a TV ministry, they could reach more people that way.

Should you believe in the Trinity?
by 1ofhissheep inhey, i am new to this site and looking into the jw faith and watchtower.
i have currently been studying what was written in the "should you believe in the trinity?
" publication found at watchtower.org .

Welcome 1ofhissheep.
You might find these publications helpful: The Watchtower and the Ante-Nicene Church by Michael J. Partyka and Exposing "Should You Believe In The Trinity by Angel Arellano. I think both books are available from freeminds.org.
You may have already noticed the scholastic dishonesty of the Watchtower. They try to discourage the reader from investigating their sources; that is why there are few footnotes and page and edition references to books quoted are lacking in most Watchtower publications. Also be wary when the Watchtower quotes someone and uses the ellipsis after just a few words into the quotation.
