The JW leadership probably decided it was too expensive to change their name to Yahweh's Witnesses, even though this was the more correct pronunciation of the Divine Name.

"Yahweh" pronunciation is more correct (w60 8/1 pp. 453-455)
by psyco in.
https://wol.jw.borg/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1960561 (substitute .borg with .org)furthermore, today in every jw publication the tetragrammaton is rendered as yhwh which is more preserved by yahweh than by jehovah..

Rethinking WT Charity Status in Canada.

My guess it that the loss of the Watchtower's charitable status will bring about the decline and fall of the JW organization. Without government subsidies and tax exemption it would be difficult to maintain the Borg's New York headquarters, printing facilities, video studios, translation homes, and GB members life-style.
Think about what the Borg would have to pay each year for the property taxes and assessments on the New York headquarters compound, video studios, and all the KHs. Plus most donations would be considered taxable income.
To pay for these new expenses would the Borg adopt tithing like the LDS Church? But the Mormons encourage education and many of them are professionals with a comfortable income. Since the Watchtower discourages college and university education, most rank and file JWs are working class and don't have a lot of cash to spare. So forcing a cash strapped family to turn over 10% of their income to the Watchtower could cause more JWs to lose heart and exit the Borg.
While these possible government actions might not destroy the Borg, the Watchtower's loss of charitable status would hasten its decline into insignificance.
However, to keep their charitable status the GB could come up with New Light and abolish shunning, discard the Blood Doctrine, and engage in real community service. This might keep the government subsidies, but also cause the Borg to loose control of the rank and file. It would also make the JW religion more mainline. If the JWs became a mainline church would the membership increase or decease?
Anyway these are my thoughts on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Happy New Year everyone,
Athanasius

The man wins custody because of the blood issue.
by liam inhere is a great story about a disfellowshipped man who fought his in laws, his wife, and his wife's boyfriend, and other jehovah witnesses, in order to win custody for his son...........and won!.
you will like the outcome.. https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1he2emz/i_used_the_blood_shunning_issues_to_win_custody/.

Perhaps those who still attend JW services can shed some light on the subject. But I heard that in most cases, unless the congregation has nosy elders, the blood issue is "don't ask, don't tell."
Since most states in the USA have patient privacy laws, a JW who needs one can have a blood transfusion without the elders ever finding out.

I enjoy the videos that Wally produces on JW Thoughts. He makes them not only informative, but also entertaining. So one can be informed of the latest in "Dub Land" and also get a hearty laugh or two at the expense of the GB.
Others must agree as Wally's last six videos had an average of 22K views. Interestingly JW Thoughts has only 31K subscribers.
Ex JW Caleb has also made some good videos. However, Caleb has an even smaller audience as his last six videos had only 7.5K average views, with 10.3K subscribers.
But what I found really surprising is that Lloyd's last six videos only averaged 7K views. Whereas, he has 115K subscribers.
But one has to wonder if the 115K subscribers listed on Lloyd's website is a real number. Because if one compares his total "subscribers" to the average views on his six recent videos, it looks like only 6% of Lloyd's subscribers even bothered to watch his recent offerings.
When Lloyd begs for money, he claims that he is engaged in a life saving work. However, it looks like Wally and Caleb are much more successful in reaching more people than Lloyd. Moreover, unlike Lloyd they don't demand payment for their work.

Looks like Lloyd's patron count is up to 358. It was 307 at the beginning of the month. Which means he was able to dupe 50 additional persons to support his sexual escapades.
I used to feel sorry for those who were duped into supporting this slob. But with all the information on the internet exposing the type of person Lloyd is and what he really uses their money for, they no longer have my sympathy. In fact they may very well be just like him.

Looks like Lloyd had another drop in patron support. Yesterday he had 324 paid members. Today he has 309.

Reddit thread about Bethel Reducing Headcount
by LongHairGal inapparently, the downsizing is still happening and from what i read those let go are over 50!.
sad because these people expected to be lifers.
now they have to make their way in the world at an advanced age with no education or desirable skill!..

I would hope that a few of these forcefully retired Bethelites would get a good lawyer who specializes in age discrimination lawsuits. If the Watchtower's cruel practices are exposed in the media and the courts system, perhaps the Borg will be forced to pay its terminated employees the compensation they deserve.

Voting, why make it easier to vote??
by moomanchu indemocrats are always harping on and on about voting rights and how the ability to vote should be easier and access unrestricted.
the most progressive ones want to allow prisoners, and illegals with no voter id the ability to vote along with the criminals, drug addicts, and uneducated low lives who already can vote.. .
after they push for everyone and anyone to be able to vote they then tell us it is a sacred privilege, a duty and honor, and a big responsibility blah, blah ect..... if it is all those grandiose things are true i think it should be harder to vote not easier.

Only the tax payers should be allowed to vote. No representation without taxation.

I wonder what would happen if one of the elders who served on one of Lloyd's Judicial Committees became a POMO and started posting on this forum?

Pornography must be a major problem among JW elders, thus the video. But this may backfire on the Watchtower. After viewing the video, elders who watch pornography will know to keep it secret if they want to retain their position in the congregation.
The Watchtower encourages JWs to inform on each other and in the video the snitch elder is commended. But what happens in real life? How will the snitch elder will be viewed by the other elders after the CO leaves?
