Dinosaurs...What are your thoughts?

the "why do animals die" thread got me thinking about the dinosaurs.

why would god create a species of animals and then completely destroy them or allow them to be destroyed.

would he do that to humans too?.

Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.?Genesis 1:20-24.
When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. They were no mistake, no product of evolution. That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors, and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links, is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory. Instead, it harmonizes with the Bible?s view of creative acts of God.

Disposable creation: makes perfect sense to me .

The example of Jonah is used to show how even though Jonah prophesied destruction for Nineveh, Jehovah changed his judgment for that city and spared it. Later in the article it states:

Still, Jehovah has held back the promised destruction so that sincere people today, like repentant ones in Nineveh, can repent and be spared. The apostle Peter refers to God?s patience in these terms: ?Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.?

Another quote:

Accurate knowledge of God?s purpose and a humble appraisal of our own relative unimportance will enable us to be patient just as long as Jehovah sees fit to be patient with this old system.

Now read between the lines:

God actual postponed his judgment of Nineveh (eventually finally destroyed in 632 BC according to WT article). Is this being applied to ?this old system??
God is patient so that some will be saved. Does this mean that as long new babies are born there is an opportunity to save more?
?Of course, Jonah did not go as far resigning as a prophet.? Is this statement pointed at the followers of the leaders of JWs?
?Accurate knowledge? and ?new light? are always at odds in JW doctrine. How can anyone look at the track record of JWs and ?use accurate knowledge?to be patient just as long as Jehovah sees fit??

So the game plan is: Blame the flock for slowing down. Forget 1975, 2000, "the generation that saw 1914". Jehovah is smarter than you (and the FDS is too).

i just wanted to share something with you that i believe is very important.

2 tim 3:16 states: all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of god may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

now we are told that in every thing we do, every day of our lives we can turn to gods word to help us, to equip us, to feed us for every good work.

Russell NOT listed as author on his own book!

i have recently obtained a copy of studies in the scriptures, series vi, "the new creation".

the copy i have is is very good condition.. opening it up, i see it is the 31,000 edition, 1905, and the publisher is listed as the watchtower bible and tract society of allegheny , pa.. but, charles taze russell name is absent on the title page!.

going through the book i find nowhere russell's name mentioned, let alone as being the author of the book.

Our hall has all the volumes, I'll check it out. However I do know that Vol 7 (The Finished Mystery) is noted as a "Posthumous Work of Pastor Russell, His Last Legacy to the Dear Isreal of God." (copyright 1917)

Thanks all for your posts. What I learned here is that:

All animals experience from old age, death and sometimes disease. For that matter all living things do also including plants and insects.

Humans are only smart enough to think that they are somehow exempt from this, and thus invent whole religions/gods/ideals to explain it away.

And that no one here could present a logical answer to my hypothesis: that we are made this way. What does that mean to you?

the document is just under 1 megabyte in size and suitable for print in microsoft word.. i suggest anybody with even a passing interest in this issue, downloads the file now.

jgnat: the turtle reference is valid, but even these ancient creatures die at about 75 - 200 years. So they live longer. On the other hand baby turtles live less than a day: only a few out of a hatch of 100 make it to sea. http://www.earthtrust.org/wlcurric/turtles.html Sounds like cheap meat to me.
