  The only adults becoming JWs today are ignorant and fail to check out their sources.

  Maybe that's what the WTS wants?

  This however did not come to pass:

  Talks of having commercial printers take over the Society's operation have been heard, and the layoffs of thousands of staff members reported to be imminent.

  The WTS has instead puchased modern multi-million dollar presses and installed them in every major branch around the world.

  Sounds like a big gun and no bullets:

  A concern among many is the lack of leadership, the Society has not published anything of significance in years.

  Yes, so true. Watch the letdown for the last five years when the "new release" comes out.

  607 Again!

  i am trying to prove that jeruselum fell in 586/87 thereby making the witness date of 607 an error.

  i sent my jw sister in law the chart of dates that prove chronologically the date of 607 is wrong using the insight book and the babylon book.

  i told her i was 'troubled' by this find and asked her to help me out by showing me where i can find proof in the literature that would line up with these dates.

  Sammie: Your frustration is coming from the fact that if the WTS has printed anything on a subject (no matter how bogus) that's good enough for your average JW.

  If the publication conflicts with a "worldy" statement, then the worldy statement is wrong.

  If the WTS publication is confusing or circular, then you need to study deeper, or better yet "Wait on Jehovah".

  Try asking specific questions targeted at weak JW reasonings.

  Like, "Does any other organization besides JWs, religious or secular, believe in 607 instead of 587?"

  The answer is no.

  i was rooting around on the internet today, and i came across something that gave me a unique insight into how fundamentalists have a good time.

  one suggestion was to have the kids re-enact the ten plagues of egypt.

  What Motivates YOU to Post Here?

  defd has said he will leave and it caused me reflect on how he was treated.

  are we happy with the way we responded when he tried to defend his faith?

  this and comments about my own attitude have caused me to review my motive for the posts i make.. when i first started posting here i was thoughtful and sincere as were most of the posters back then.

  There is one person I post for... YOU

  The You who is lurking on this site, full of doubts, fear and frustration as a JW.

  The You who is looking for real answers this time.

  When trolls and apologists post on JWD I believe it is important to debate them. Debate is non-existant in the JW world. There is no opportunity to make an informed decision by watching both sides defend their beliefs.

  Derrick (Defd) made himself a hypocrite the moment he posted here. But who knows if a little debate didn't help him as well?

  I have been talking to a few people here privately and I came to the decision that I will not post anymore here. Those few individuals I talked to were nice and the way they were treated by the "FRIENDS" was all too familiar to me and it makes me truely sad. I also see that some on here are not so nice.( had to throw that in there) I realize that many have GOOD reason for stopping their meeting attendence. I am close to it. At least the Hall I go to. I also realize that some not only stopped attending meetings but they have forsaken Jehovah altogether, which also makes me sad and mad. I see that by me being here doesnt do Ya'll any good or myself. So id like to apologize if I offended some here(but not to all) My finally thought is: Jesus will get those who hurt ya'll I am convinced they are in serious trouble. Jehovah knows the heart of everyone and i am certain in some here he sees good.

  DID YOU KNOW THIS about the BIBLE?

  the oldest manuscripts are not considered the most reliable.. there are no "autograph" texts.

  none.. there are no "original" manuscripts.. no two manuscripts agree.. the bible as we know it only came together in the form it now holds because certain men decided it should do so.. neither jesus nor his apostles or disciples carried bibles.. the apostle paul didn't carry a bible and none of his letters were in any of the scrolls considered holy scripture at the time he was preaching and forming christian theology as it is now understood to be.. largely, what the bible is today, is the result of certain men with certain agendas who had the authority to make their project happen.

  they also had the power to destroy writings which did not agree with their agenda.

  I expect Bible canon apologies to dissolve into the murmer of myth within our lifetime. For more great reasoning on this topic, get on this merry-go-round:

  Hope JWs are studied up on geography since country names are not listed!
