Knorr was married and also celibate, much to the chagrin of his wife.
I've known about JFR and Russell but haven't heard this about Knorr. How is this known?
it is well know today that judge rutherford and his wife lived apart from each other for most of the time he was president of the watchtower bible and tract society.. the judge's main residences were at brooklyn bethel and the house beth sarim in san diego, california.. mary rutherford, his wife, lived in the city monrovia which is in the los angeles area and is about 125 miles from beth sarim.. there are no reports that judge rutherford was seen with his wife during the 20 years he was in control of the watchtower.
not a single report of him visiting monrovia!.
being away from one's wife for over 22 years certainly satisfys the definition of one being separated from one's wife.. the sataurday evening post's article "armageddon, inc" stated that there was a "mrs. rutherford" but that no one was saying anything at all about her.

can someone provide the societys view on whether resurrected are not able to marry.
it has been over 10 years since i was active and i at the time if i remember correctly the society said they would not.
if anyone knows whether they flip floped on this either would be great.
The Society still maintains no marriage for resurrected ones. This teaching added to my questioning of the Society. I had an Aunt that died and within two years my Uncle remarried. I couldn't understand how according to the Society she would be the same person in every way as far as her memories after being resurrected and still be happy not having her husband anymore and him with another woman and this would be for eternity. Plus she could never marry herself. Just like you, I couldn't understand how a loving god could do this to people. It seemed so cruel.

12. Many individuals find themselves in a situation similar to that of a sick woman in Jesus' day. At Mark 5:25,26, we read: "There was a woman subject to a flow of blood twelve years, and she had been put to many pains by many physicians and had spent all her resources and had not been benefited but, rather, had got worse." Jesus healed that woman and dealt with her compassionately. (Mark 5:27-34) In desperation, some Christians have been tempted to choose diagnostic or therapeutic methods that go against the principles of pure worship.
Didn't the woman with the blood flow go against pure worship when she went outside among the people and touch Jesus? She was considered unclean and was to stay away from others and especially not to touch someone. So, her example is of one breaking God's rules to make herself well. She was commended for her actions not condemned for them.
it happened last thursday, it's only now i can talk about it.
she was only 34, and so beatilful, but she had a problem with drinking, and other substance abuse.
she was found after aspirating in her sleep.... .

someone told me yesterday that she had studied with witnesses "up to chapter 3"...whatever that means.. she said that a man and woman came to her house one day after she had been studying and that the woman put on a head covering or veil when they started the study.
she asked the woman why she did that and the woman replied they do that when in presence of a brother.. i think she must have got jws mixed up with some other group...i just never heard of the veil thing before.. is this a jw practice?.

I was barely out of high school when I experienced my first head covering. I was with a pioneer sister who was probably about 10 years older than me. This was the first study that I ever went on with a sister. Before it began she asked for a napkin from the householder and put it on her head. She sat there with the napkin on her head the whole time. She must have done this before at the study because no mention was made why she was wearing a napkin on her head. I kept staring at her thinking this is strange. Afterward, I asked her why she put the napkin on her head and she explained. Thats when I realized the second class position of women in the organization. No one had ever told me about this. My Aunt had studied with me, but I wasn't baptized so she didn't need to wear a covering. Since then many sisters have worn that ridiculous garb in my presence. I could never reconcile in my mind, that if women were to rule as kings in heaven, then why did they have to be submissive to men on earth? Never made sense even when I was in.
It was probably designed at this web site
i know i am an old fart and a pedant, but things spelled incorrectly stand out, like copy of c.o.c in a kingdom hall library.. i don't think it matters too much say, posting on here,or in life generally,so many people make mistakes, but i do think it detracts from your credibility and your message in important stuff i.e a d.a letter for example, any excuse and dub's will ignore what you say.. so,is it not worth checking?
one word that many on here have a problem with is apostasy, often putting a c where the last s should be.. is having a problem with this word a true example of irony?.
