eh heh?
i know this is either going to be one of those topics where people consider it a popularity contest or something....i'm just being an imp and seeing if anyone will be forward enough to tell about the person that they would like to date.. me, i'm married so that leaves me out!
but i have seen a lot of beefcakes on here!
Ip is kinda cute isn't he Arrow?
dad came down this weekend to party with my brothers and i....... we have this huge on going july 4th party(all weekend) in my town called "river front rendezvous".
everyone goes for the food, beer, and bands.
little big town(country band) firehouse(go to love the 80's) were just a few that played there.
I wish my Dad would get me drunk once in awhile.
.
i found the dc very interesting this year do to my reading of this site.
i took note that the danger of the internet was menitioned no less than three times, once with a demonstration showing a brother who found a site by a innocent search of the web on a jw subject to the very last talk, concluding remarks and final "resolution" that consisted of 10 items with number 10 staying away from dangerous sites and chat rooms.. makes you wonder what the real story is behind that much attention being given to this problem iof theirs.. oc
The truth is the problem starts BEFORE you ever get on the internet. If witnesses were satisfied with their religion they probably wouldn't start searching the net to begin with. I have my doubts most of the witnesses who get onto these sites simply stumble on them by accident. I first had my doubts...then I researched.
this seemed like a likely place to introduce myself.
i live in oregon and was disfellowshipped a couple of years ago.
i never went back to meetings and i don't intend to go back.
Hello. Nice to see you here! I hope you find this forum helpful...
over the years here on the forum...i have read with interest many da letters.
brave people!!
not so brave.
That's F***** AWESOME!!!!! (wish I had thought of that....very jealous)
i have read many opinions about jw's being a cult.a dictionary describes cult as a system of religious beliefs and ritual .. some have viewed even major religions as a cult, such as the roman catholic church.based upon webster almost anybody or anything that is viewed as ritualistic could be said to be cultic.when someone tries to negate jehovah's witnesses by using.
the "cult" word, i believe they are not seeing that many others could legitimately be regarded as a cult or at least "cultic".therefore the word loses alot of meaning.
some have said that the watchtower is a cult because of the control factor.
According to the "Sociology of Religion" class I just finished Jehovah's Witnesses would be regarded as a sect NOT a cult. All religions start out as cults, then evolve into sects and then religions. Personally, I don't think these definitions change anything however. Perhaps any of these (religions, sects, cults) could be helpful in some way but also quite harmful. We have the choice to decide how they effect us and others and the power to leave abusive situations.
i just moved to wisconsin and wonder if there is anyone who posts on this site who is from the milwaukee area, specifically in the suburbs north of the city?
any groups that meet up periodically anywhere in the milwaukee area?
ziggy
Hi Ziggy. I'm in the general area you describe. There are others in the area who get together at times. PM me if you want my e-mail address and want to talk. Take care!
when i first posted here, i explained that it was because although i am not, never have been, never will, be a jw, i have (earthly, as an atheist) loving concern for my jw neighbours/friends.. just recently, i found out that the mom is pregnant.
she is not young, has a 6 year old, and a 2 year old who is like a firecracker!.
i have offered to do basic things like take/collect the 6 year old to and from school, take the kids for walks on beach, etc.
Joe,
I know it is frustrating but please don't dispair. Just "be there" for the kid's especially. I was raised a witness boy but I remember at least one "worldly" neighbor in particular who would always spend time talking with me, playing basketball with me and inviting me to play softball with he and his wife and friends. He would ask me if I 'really liked being a witness' and I would lie and say 'yes' out of fearful respect for my parents. My point is just be friendly and be you. You never know what kind of good impression you might make on the kids. I remember fondly my neighbor and it helped me see "worldly" people are "good". Keep up the good work!
or as i like to call it...where the hell are you jesus?
(please don't laugh .
well, some say he walked on water.
or as I like to call it...Where The Hell Are You Jesus? (please don't laugh )
Well, some say he walked on water
Some say he raised the dead
Some say he brings peace to families
Then why does he use a sword to divide them instead?
Oh, Jesus, who are you really?
Why should I even care?
You said that you were coming
Then you vanished right into thin air
So where the hell are you Jesus?
You promised to end all dispair
Where the hell are you Jesus?
And why the hell do I even care?
I work and I tithe and I tell everyone
The good news that soon will come
Oh what a fool I am, I've been duped again
Cuz there isn't even anyone there
Only sad lonely fools looking up to the clouds
And waving those tracts in the air
So where the hell are you Jesus?
You promised to end all dispair
Where the hell are you Jesus?
And why the hell do I even care?
