It's taken me a long time to get over the term 'Cult'. When my wife first used that expression in reference to the WTBTS, I bit her head off!! Through reading many of the articles on this site and other links, and reading peoples views, then readdressing my own feelings towards many of the doctines etc, I have come to relunctantly realise that it really is nothing more than a Cult.

I say reluctantly because the greater part of my life was spent inside the 'borg', and no one wants to feel that their life has been a waste. I still don't feel angry towards them, more disappointed, like you've just found that someone you trusted implicitly has let you down or deliberately misled you.

I don't know about anyone else, but I intend getting those lost years back in every way possible!! LIVE FAST - DIE YOUNG - BUT SMILING!

DF'd, what do I say????

when i wrongly df'd 5 years ago i never went back, there are jw's at my job and i sometimes see jw's on the street.

if they smile at me i smile back since they do not know.. question - what am i officially to tell those that innocently say hi to me?

(i would never tell them that i was df'd because i think it is wrong) but i an curious since it has been so long.. .

Hey there PB,

It's such an awkward feeling isn't it when you meet up with JW's - Years of entrenched indoctrination still makes you feel that you have to almost apologise to them for being nice - I know, I get the same. I've worked with other JW's that I used to be on attendants duty with at assemblys, and usually found that once the initial 'ice' has been broken, they'll be just as chatty as before... of course, you will still get the odd 'hard-core' JW that walks away with that false feeling of superiority...

One of my favourite albums for driving to is Countdown to Extinction - Megadeath!

Steer clear of these 'greatest driving tunes..... Ever' compilations, they're shite.

If you're stuck in heavy traffic, I've always found the best thing to relax me is a comedy recording - I often sit LMAO in traffic jams whilst others are getting angry!

Have fun with the suggestions, and try something new - excercise your freedom of choice!!!

Only In "Great" Britain!

yellow lines painted under driver's parked car

driver steve tether received a parking ticket after workmen painted yellow lines under his car.. the men bounced his nissan micra away from the kerb, put down the markings and then bounced it back into position.. mr tether was then stunned to come back to his car in hull and find a 30 fixed penalty ticket on it.. staff at a nearby factory who had seen what happened came out to tell him and mr tether complained to hull city council, which cancelled the ticket..

i'm having great fun looking up stuff from the 60's and 70's that i recall causing me some astonishment at the time, even though i was still an active dubbie when they were published.

IMO, we should be less judgemental of poor old Charles. Haven't most of us here been pressured into doing something we didn't want, to try to keep our 'social' standing ??

hello everyone, i am new to this discussion board.

my name is pinned blouse because once i was wrongly df'd and i no longer attended the meetings, i noticed all my blouses had pin holes in them where i fastened safety pins in them to make sure i was always "modest" lol.

mind you i do not have large boobies but i did not want to "tempt" the brothers.. .

Holy Spirit and to us "... so if they had any personal preferences or opinions, in addition to the HS, have these been recorded as 'gospel' by the bible writers ???

I had kinda started to pick up on the personal views bit, and will definitely have another read - it's very hard to get past some of the doctrines and witness reasonings on things... even after 10 years of being out!!

Have others given up trying to communicate their feelings?

i don't think i'll be listened to any more, my story is not worth telling, it is too complex, it causes me too much sadness to try to relate it, too much shame and too much internal pain.

am i the only one that feels that they have given up trying to communicate their feelings here anymore?

like my personality is a sham, i do my best to cope, to be happy, to be this cantankerous old sod that tries to make out to everyone i'm doing well, but ..... anyone?

Sorry you're having a downer at the minute - reading through the replies here I'm sure will show you just how much people care and want to hear your full story.

I can honestly say that telling my story (very condensed as it was) made me feel a hell of a lot better - I felt it was time to have my say! Most of the responses I had were very comforting and caring, and non judemental - something I'd never really received apart from my wife's reactions, and 2 very close friends with whom I could talk that understood the JW way of life.

It appears people here who know you have a great affection and respect for you - trust them and let them try to help you, the way you have helped them in your replies.

Hope you feel better soon - Matt 11:28-30!
