IMO, we should be less judgemental of poor old Charles. Haven't most of us here been pressured into doing something we didn't want, to try to keep our 'social' standing ??

I hope he will be happy, and yes, I think it's time they stopped living on handouts and got some proper work done too!!!

hello everyone, i am new to this discussion board.

my name is pinned blouse because once i was wrongly df'd and i no longer attended the meetings, i noticed all my blouses had pin holes in them where i fastened safety pins in them to make sure i was always "modest" lol.

mind you i do not have large boobies but i did not want to "tempt" the brothers.. .

I had kinda started to pick up on the personal views bit, and will definitely have another read - it's very hard to get past some of the doctrines and witness reasonings on things... even after 10 years of being out!!

Have others given up trying to communicate their feelings?

i don't think i'll be listened to any more, my story is not worth telling, it is too complex, it causes me too much sadness to try to relate it, too much shame and too much internal pain.

am i the only one that feels that they have given up trying to communicate their feelings here anymore?

like my personality is a sham, i do my best to cope, to be happy, to be this cantankerous old sod that tries to make out to everyone i'm doing well, but ..... anyone?

Sorry you're having a downer at the minute - reading through the replies here I'm sure will show you just how much people care and want to hear your full story.

I can honestly say that telling my story (very condensed as it was) made me feel a hell of a lot better - I felt it was time to have my say! Most of the responses I had were very comforting and caring, and non judemental - something I'd never really received apart from my wife's reactions, and 2 very close friends with whom I could talk that understood the JW way of life.

It appears people here who know you have a great affection and respect for you - trust them and let them try to help you, the way you have helped them in your replies.

Hope you feel better soon - Matt 11:28-30!

All seriousness now though... I can't understand the fascination with Bill Clintons private life. Just because he's the president doesn't mean he's got to be 'dead from the waist down'!

Whilst I don't agree with the 'sleeping around' thing, if his wife knew of it and supported him, then who is anyone else to judge him? That seems a very self rightous, 'dubbie' view of things to me.

Knock the man if he couldn't / didn't perform the job you voted him in for, but don't knock him for being a 'man'.

I have to agree with the Borg on this one - Acts15:29 (New American Standard) "Abstain from things sacrificed to Idols and from blood"

Whilst they couldn't possibly have known about our medical advancements etc, the way in which it is written doesn't denote the medium by which blood is ingested, transfused or any other means. It merely says to ABSTAIN!

In context (verse 28) says that it seemed good for the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: (Italics/bold added)

Just one other thought on this though... "Holy Spirit and to us "... so if they had any personal preferences or opinions, in addition to the HS, have these been recorded as 'gospel' by the bible writers ???

My folks always went on at me about my musical tastes. First Metal single I ever bought was The Trooper (Iron Maiden) During one of my 'making an effort' stages I did a deal with my Mum - If I got rid of all my Heavy Metal cd's, she'd stop watching soaps on telly. Needless to say I regret it now in the extreme!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't even allowed to sell them - they had to be snapped and binned!

I love anything hard 'n' heavy, including:

Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Accept, Yngwie Malmsteen, Metallica, Guns n Roses, Helloween, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Heart, Kingdom Come, Magnum, Scorpions and loads more

Going to see a group play in Ripley, Derbyshire, in June - Nuclear Minogue. They play current pop songs to a Heavy / Thrash metal accompanyment. They are AWESOME!!!

I had a KH125 whilst still in the borg - the freedom it gave me for getting about more than made up for occasional snide comments about respect for the life I have been given etc.

I wonder what they'd make of my bike now - a 1500GL SE Goldwing, all airbrushed up with Bison, Wolves, Eagles, American indians etc and called "Spirit of the Wing." Guess it'd be ok if I added 'Holy' to the front of its name and replaced 'Wing' with 'WT' !!!

Seems strange though about being couneselled over owning a motorcycle... an old acquaintance in my old congregation has recently purchased himself a brand new Subaru Impreza WRX - I wonder how he justified it.... "Can get around more return visits in an hour ??? I can witness to the guy I just beat in a race???"
