anyone got any views on "bikers" in the cong ?
i.e.
has anyone turned up to the hall in leathers....if so what reaction did you get ?............any loving comments from the elders?
I bought my Harley dresser 2 years ago. Since I've been "faded" away for 4 years......no one even knew I had it.
But whenever I would run into a JW, I would make it a point to tell them that I was now Harley owner.
"Was a Harley owner"........I miss it........got broadsided last October and the bike was totaled.........but I'm here!

a watchtower spokesman told the brooklyn paper that it may soon be unloading some of its high end brooklyn heights real estate.they recently sold off a hulking 12 story building at 360 furman st.for $200 million.they own some 29 properties ranging from brownstones to apartment buildings.if these buildings did convert , it would be a tremendous boon to the real estate business in brooklyn heights.in the 60's brownstones went for about $60,000, now they can fetch $2 to $3 million!.
i want my cut!
30 years of contributions to the society should add up to millions for all of us who helped the society pay for those properties.i know , i know, keep dreaming, they will never give you one cent.. blueblades.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I never really though about it but maybe I'm not getting back a little of what I always gave. I never got it back from anyone in the cong., but I get plenty of kindness from everyone I have any dealings with.

in was baptized in 1983 at the age of 18. by the end of 1984, i was beginning the fade thing.
for 5 years i was an "inactive" witness.
i can recall maybe one visit from an elder , though a few more from some "friends" that had missed me.
My experience in this regard goes back to about 1990 or 1989 (I resigned sometime in 1990 as an elder).
A brother I had known for over 20 years and who was very active and always did thing for those less fortunate, one I was close to (or so I thought......remember this.........there are no true or real friendships in the org unless "mother" comes first .... reminds me of what we were always told about communism.....everybody, including family was watching everybody to turn them in at the first opportunity as an ememy of the state) and as much as I hate the thought......I would have probably turned him in for some percieved wrongdoing.
Anyhow...........he started to get more and more lax in his meeting attendance until finally he wasn't attending at all. Next we hear is that he got married to a Catholic girl and in a CHURCH! Well, you would have thought the body "spiritual policemen" were now the KGB the way they investigated the matter. Turns out he started coming to a few meetings and Memorial and clarifies that the wedding was a civil ceremony. Whether this was true or not, I don't know nor at the time did I care anymore. I haven't seen or heard from him in over 8 years now. But I was there when he made the statement to me and some others in the cong that for over 20 years he served Jehovah and Jehovah didn't see fit to give him a woman from the org.......but without even trying.........a woman was given to him from the world.
He is probably lucky that he didn't marry one from the org.......No offense to any of you wonderful ladies who were in the org! HappyDad

Thanks for the Glenn Campbell ditty. It brings to mind something I heard about him when I started studying in the late 1960's It was going around in the JW circles that someone had studied with Glenn Campbell but he couldn't give up his career as a performer for a religion. And that is why he wrote and had a major hit with Rhinestone Cowboy.
Has anyone ever heard anything like this?
Another story that went around was that Tommy James of the Shondells had studied also in the late 1960's and wrote the song "Crystal Blue Persuasion" about the "Truth" book.
Any comments would be appreciated.

i?m due soon for a shepherding call from my congregation elders for a variety of reasons: being irregular in service, s poradically attending meetings, and o h yes, writing in a letter to the society asking for clarifications on the blood ban.

Thanks for putting this in your post. I also wish to apologize to everyone I delt with in an unloving manner. It's funny but pathetic when I think of how it was drummed into us elders that what they had us doing was the "loving" thing to do. "Ve must keep das congregation clean!" HIEL!!!

At least the priests and vicars visit their people in the hospital. That's more than the JW's I was involved with for over 30 years did when my wife was dying ...........when my father was dying...............and when my mother was dying...................all in a period of 2 years.
Two weeks after my wife died the memorial talk was given...........some of the ones she grew up with in the "truth?" didn't even show up for the talk. One JW showed up for the visitation when my Dad died. Two JW's from the KH I transferd to came to my Mom's visitation. (she was DF'd in 1973 because she liked tobacco, but she still defended the crazy shit til' she died! ) 25 years of shunning of her and she still thought most of them were ok........What a waste of precious love! They are all STEPFORD PEOPLE (have you seen the Stepford Wife movie? A new version is coming out.............all of them are .F@?K#%G ZOMBIES!
