  i just "obtained" a copy of doom 3 to see what all the fuss is about.. lets see here:.

  $60.00 to but a copy (if you want to do it the legit way).

  now, if you want a good gaming experience you will need to upgrade to a 256 mb video card: $400.00 - $500.00.

  I'm reaching the same stage with my Metallica and Megadeth, I can only stomach a few songs, the others I've overplayed so much..
  I'm slowly getting towards the end of my thrash phaze, I'm half way through the Slayer and Iron Maiden discographies. I'm trying to prolong it a bit by listening to a lot of stuff on the other end of the spectrum..
  Cinematic Orchestra, Sixtoo, Roots Manuva, Aim, Air, Boards Of Canada, RJD2, Aphex Twin
  then theres all the jungle, drum n base, punk, house, that I listen to regularly.
  And I'm just getting into Beethoven and Mozart as well.
  
  Overall nothing reaches the brilliance of good metal though (maybe I just haven't listened to all the other stuff for long enough)

  How do you cheer yourself up?

  if your jw family upset you, or if you're having "one of those days" (or weeks, or months .

  is there anything that you actively do to counter the negative feelings?.

  i usually try to go into "look after myself" mode and spend some time alone just relaxing or having a good cry .

  I think of an old friend or acquintance who I haven't spoken to for a long time, and phone them or go out with them. It helps take my mind off things now, and brings back good memories of "happier times"
  
  or I try doing some piece of work or a project I've been putting off for a while, like cleaning my room, something that gets my mind totally absorbed.
  
  alcohol also helps :) but thats for rare occasions

  need some advice

  i've been doing the fade for about 5 months now and doing my best to stay away from all witnesses.

  i'm currently living with my brother who is still an active witness.

  i've been doing my best these last couple of months to establish friends away from the twoof.

  Unfortunately it takes forever to get new friends, basically because we are still trying to figure out what to believe in and what interests we have now that we aren't censored by the society. Try finding people with similar interests as you, eg music, talk about your favourite band or whatever with someone and eventually its gets easier to talk about other stuff with them as well.
  I struggle a lot with it as well. The only real friends I have now are a few guys I went to school with, and it took 3-4 years to become friends with them, and that was cause I didn't have much choice but to associate with them. I'm trying to be more open with people I meet daily, but it still takes a long time before I feel comfortable around "strangers".
