JW working the obituaries

i was reading my local paper this morning and there was a letter to the editor.

the writer had recently lost a child and the child's obituary was recently printed in our paper.

the writer said she received a letter with a "jehovah witness tract" called "what help for dead loved ones?

The WT experiences are crap. At our hall a brother was doing an item on a new brochure or something and asked around for any good experiences, There werent any so a pioneer was asked surely she would have one. "well I dont really " she said " There was one women who took it and said shed read it and that I could go back, I did go back and she was pleasent, but thats all"

So on the platform she went and the brother puffed it out a bit ending with "We might see her at the hall in a few weeks time "

Anyway the CO was on the hunt for good experiences for the assembly and asked our hall did we have any. This sister was mentioned, by this time shed never got the householder in again after the first RV, but that didnt matter. She confessed to me after the assembly how embarrist she was cos the CO had virtually written a fictional experience for her to tell that was nothing like the real one. And that is not the exception either, I know most are exagerated

And as for the last article of Blondies, I wonder of the thousand tracts that were handed out, ended up in the bin? Or how many got ppl baptized?I can guess NONE

I knew of a JW that stopped her son from going to his fathers second marriage cos he was disfellowshipped. He was only six at the time, all was well till the latest KM stated about DFs family, so she went through the article with the child and told him how wrong it would be but that it was HIS choice !

Anyway the child really wanted to do the right thing and told his dad he wouldnt go to the wedding. If he asks about his dad and the future his mum tells him hes been naughty and Jehovah is going to kill him if he doesnt come back to the meetings. Now thats sick

Why do only SOME people have an "experience" even when you may genuinely want to have a relationship with Christ but cant.

And what about all those genuine and sincere JW why arent they given the oppurtunity instead of getting stuck in a cult, is their worship acceptable?

Its no answer to say God reads hearts I heard that for too long.

Why 5 meetings a week?

i was recently being ragged on my a jw friend and he was raggin on me for not goin to the meetings.

he said i am foresaking the gathering of ourselves.

i then said where in the bible does it say i must attend 5 meetings a week spread over 3 days?

Ohhhh it must be the truth we all have five meetimgs AND we all study the same material,whether you live in an igloo or a mud hut. I fell for that one

After Reading CoC It Seems This Could Apply to Dub Loyalty to the Org - LOL

the below analogy made me think about how in coc whenever a new article comes out in the wt the dubs loyally obey without questioning whether or not it has any bible basis or whether or nor it is morally right (i.e.

disassociated ones to be shunned just as disfellowshipped ones, ones who personally disagree with any of the established beliefs (even if they are not outwardly promoting such disagreement) are to be considered apostates and should be disfellowshipped, etc.).

it's amazing how the org can say it's black even if it's white and blind faith causes the dubs not to question it.

I thought he was blaspheming, what was wrong with him, he was displaying a independant spirit!!!!! Yikes that was scary, till the veil lifted from my eyes and realized I could eat that banana if I wanted to

Coming clean about what's been going on lately, I need to talk......

well, my sil and best friend came to this site on my recommendation (jw).

i just wanted her to check it out without judgement as we have always been able to talk about everything.

she basically was disgusted, said it was full of crap and lies and would never look at it again.

I am so, so sorry. Maybe she didnt want the responsibility that you where going back for her.

I think shes terrified, has little faith in the org herself and one day will regret it BIG TIME !

Birhtday Party at Lehaa's

yep, it's my little girl, georgia's, birthday today.

she turns 3. .

we're having a little party, just with the neighbours kids.

Deep down in his heart he might WANT her to have a party. As long as hes not responsible he may be pleased, ask if he wants to stay I remember with my kids I always felt bad about their birthdays cos I never really excepted the orgs stance, but I still went along with it.

If you could create a new canon - what books/ writings would you include?

ok so the bible is a work of the early roman church - if you could add any books to a new canon of 'scripture' what would you add - would you take anything out?

I would take all the books from Acts to Revelation out of the NT

Jesus words are all we need. The rest just causes confusion
