Which avatars ''appeal'' to you (credit to jt stumbler)
by MidwichCuckoo inafter reading jt stumbler's topic on avatars, i recognised that certain avatars appeal to me, and i'm sure others feel the same.... .
elsewhere (no idea why, gimme a clue), ezekiel3 (says a lot), euphemism (loved the marx bros) and googlemagoogle (so classical) spring to mind, oh, ip_sec's last avatar (the red pyramid) - want to revert back ip_sec?
oh, and stillajwexelder - after reading your posting on jt stumbler's thread i realise i previously had the wrong impression - lol.

Its interesting what you said. Sometimes I think I react to posters by their avatar. Also I have thought that a poster is male, and had a real shock to find out they are female and visa versa. It just shows how we quickly "judge" I dont think thats the right word, ppl by what we see even if it is only an avatar.
I like to see ppl real faces, I want to be able to do that one day

Do you ever think that you will stop JW-bashing and get on with your life?
by booker-t ini was recently talking to a girl in my psychology class who told me that she use to be a jw and was df'd in the mid 1990's.
this girl shocked me because usually ex-jws are so unhappy and miserable and spend most of their time complaining about the "evil" wt society.
she told me that when she was df'd alot of ex-jws swarmed towards her trying to get her to "bash" the wt but she refused.

The WT bash other ppl and religions all the time. But dont like it when others have a go at them.
They only want to hear the positive stuff that is said about them, and even go as far as saying it is a sin against the spirit (a sin that will never be forgiven) if you talk against the org.
So many eJWs have a superstition that they cannot say anything bad against the WT in case armageddon comes and theyll will DEFINATLY die. It doesnt matter what other sin theve commited, they "might" get through the big A, But badmouthing the org, theve no chance.
How many times have we heard brothers on the platform saying when talking about apostates, that they wish they would just leave the poor brothers alone. Yeah right if only we could
As long as my daughter is in I cant just walk away, that will only happen when the WT has GONE

I forced my son to go out in FS and he hated it. Now hes out, thankgod. My daughter went out cos all her friends did, but hated it and now only goes out if she has to.
My friends husband forbade his kids to go out ( she took them anyway, on the sly) One hates it the other doesnt mind.
My other friends husband forbade it and they werent allowed to go to meetings either, she never took them out they never went to meeting till they were 16 years, it was all such a fantastic mystery that they couldnt wait to go. They where all baptized within a year of being allowed to go to meetings and now the three are all IN.
The big thing is neither opposing father ever gave them an alternative way of thinking they just allowed their wives to indoctinate them.
You must tell your children why YOU dont think its the truth. I know you dont want to anilate you wife but you must protect your kids.

I was in the org for over 20 years as an adult and never used or heard the expression "friends" .
It may have been used by one or two speakers at a assembly or convention but never by the"friends"
I thinks it an American thing, just like the religion

would you let your child associate with Jehovahs Witnesses?
by Ellie in.
i'm the only one of my family who is not in 'the truth', and my family don't want anything to do with me.. however, today my mum asked me if she can take my 2 year old to visit the rest of the family, i'm not invited and wouldn't be welcome at any of their houses, so she would be taking my daughter alone.. i told her i would think about it.. i really don't think it would be practical because my daughter is not familiar with the family and i don't want her to be upset.. but the main reason |'m thinking of saying no is that i feel offended that i am not good enough for them to speak to.. am i being selfish if i say no?

They WILL start telling your child you are bad or naughty for not being Jehovahs friend and not going to the meetings. They WILL tell her that you will die if you dont go
Is that what you want your child to hear ???
My sister tells her son ALL the time that Jehovah will kill his daddy if he doesnt go back to the meeting (he was DFs )
She thinks its great cos her small son panics when they cant go to a meeting.........I know its cos hes terrified of being murdered at armageddon as was I when I was a child.
You must never allow them to be alone with your child, YOU can explain to her why they dont talk to you, in your own time and way
Goodluck

I think one of the big ways to bring the WT down is financially.
Their charity status is a joke surely there must be a way to end it. How long would they last without the tax benefits, sorry if im off topic a bit.
I also think local news and news papers have a big impact on new students, I mean recruits. unfortunately the Dubs just think its persecution.

I have just read part of the transcript. I was wondering if ordinary ppl will grasp what the programe was trying to say.
Was it made clear enough that they were discouraged from going to the police.
