What's your posting routine?
by sonnyboy in.
do you first check your post history and respond to former posts, or do you simply read the active topics and go from there?.
i always feel guilty if i don't respond to a question or comment from the previous day, but i've been posting so much lately that it'll take too much time to go through my post history.

WT relies on Abortion Rights Precedent in DPA: Problem?
by Oroborus21 indon't know if anyone's ever brought this up before: .
so i was looking at my copy of the jw dpa (it is from 2001 and the florida version) and i had never really sat down and read it through before since i never did the dpa thing (and in fact got in a "discussion" about my not doing it with an elder one time).
well anyway on page three, paragraph 10 it begins: "this paragraph applies to pregnant women only" the paragraph lays out the legal precedents that establish that "the state may not override a pregnant woman's competent decisions, including refusal of recommended invasive medical procedures, to potentially save the life of a viable fetus" and then goes onto discuss how the "state's interest in the potential life of a fetus is insufficient to override the mother's interest in preserving her own health.

A woman only has the "right" to abort upto a few weeks, its a completely different scenario at the time of birth surely.
I have never had a DPA even while I was in the org, although I may consider getting one now.

A continuation of defd's discussion
by cruzanheart inokay, defd, i started a new topic so we won't continue to hijack panic attack's thread.
the reason why i didn't answer you back is twofold: (1) i'm at work and they kind of expect me to do other things besides post on jwd; (2) my husband chris (big tex) answered your question sufficiently for me so i didn't see a need to respond.. nina i am curious as to why you didnt finish our discussion and respond to my answer?
was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, and i am very pleased to be able to offer my children the respect to make their own decisions about what to believe .

There was a poster here who said her husband believed in Santa and fairies and a load of other strange things. She was wondering if anyone else believed in those things. I cant remember who it was but she wasnt a new poster, so I thought she it was a genuine topic, even though it was strange!

Have you ever got up in the middle of a meeting, bored, and just left?
by JH ini did it many times.
first of all, let me say that just about every meeting i attended was a sacrifice for me.
i was a follower, not more.

I can not believe that I spent YEARS bored and thinking up ways not to go or how I could go home early.
And I was an adult, no one forced me was I mad ? yep I must have been. I look back and am shocked how I was emotionally blackmailed for so long in going and doing something I didnt want to do. I put myself through agony because I thought this was the truth and the problem was with me.
I just thought on day Ill get it , thankgod I didnt.
I wonder in a congregation of say a hundred, how many dont want to be there.

Apostates - blood on their hands?
by slimboyfat indon't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?
haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?
if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).

No apostates do not have blood on their hands, that lies squarely on the shoulders of the GB but I do understant what you mean. If the WT have dug their heels in and then turn on the R&F with even strickter policies on things like shunning then this really shows them up for what they are.
Not many JWs have a clue whats going on, I didnt till last year when I came on the internet and im sure glad for all those apostates who revealed the truth to me or I could be still locked into that crap.

New Testament Paradise Earth
by TheListener inone of the things that bothers me is the very little or almost non-existent way the paradise earth is talked about in the new testament.
i've never heard a dub even think about that for one second.. the only occasions i can think of that the dubs use to show the new testament does in fact talk paradise earth is the scripture at matthew 5:5 (about mild tempered ones, or meek inheriting the earth), revelation 21:3,4 (about no more sickness, sorrow, suffering nor death) and jesus on the cross saying that the guy next to him would be with jesus in paradise.. none of these are overly convincing.
why didn't the apostles talk more about the paradise.

This bothered me quite a bit, but then I would just put my head in the sand. I used to think when I read the bible that it was not really speaking to me but only the "annointed" If we are really at the brink of armageddon and the majority of the ppl on earth are of the great crowd, then surely the NT would have more to say to us (1 billion) than a mere 8 thousand remnant.
Of course you can take on the principles of faith in the bible if you are part of the 144,00 or the other sheep but theres a big difference between going to heaven after you die or living on a paradise on earth forever, this other hope is never mentioned in the NT.
Oh and if we are quoting scriptures Defd what about Rev 19 :1 Please give me your opinion on this one
