There are woman in "high places" in the watchtower organisaton. I found one:
JOLENE CHU, Secretary/Director, Jehovah's Witness Holocaust-Era Survivors Fund (Paterson, NY)
Also graduated on university, not one of the rank and file Jo Publishers.

the january km is completely different.
the style has been totally revamped
It has the style (leatherhead) of the study-wachtower. It is totaly onreadeble! Every week has an own page. The first time I read it, i had to laugh: they keep changing the litle things, to keep the rank & file busy! "See how the brothers think about us. The end is near!" as sister elder told us.
very simple, really.
say that witnesses are responsible adults and as such, need to turn in their field service reports on time without a lot of reminders.. don't check up on them by phone asking 'where's your time this month?'.
i know that doing things like this can get you canned as secretary.
A very close family-member was Secretary: he did not call the publishers by phone, but did something else: he just wrote some hours on their report, to keep them regular publishers and to keep the total hours of the congregation on track... ((:
at the dawn of the age of the pc, before the advent of the cd, when pcs had 10 mg hard drives and when few people had pcs at home, the society brought out what at the time was an amazing piece of software: the nwt bible for the pc.
i think it came on something like 12 3.5 inch floppy disks, which took an eternity to load, but as a piece of software was really cool at the time.
it allowed for a full text search way before yahoo and google ever were thought of.
Yes I remember. I remember I showed my father "look, the society uses the computer! Watch, this floppy, it's realy true".
It was a statement, because the opinion in the congregation was that using computers was not something "the society" wanted.
There was a BOE letter saying no use of computers in the congregation.
Good times. Confusing times. Then the internet got introduced, and I found on a site of brothers much information. Does anyone
remember MPtech.com? That was the site with downloads about us witnesses... Later on I found hourglass... and JWD some years later!

i'm a witness from west europe.
many jw's here don't understand the reason of recent congregational change: oil price... the oil price in the united states is still much cheaper than in europe.
how is it possible that the governing body takes the oil price as one of the reasons to change congregational issues?

How is it possible that the governing body takes the oil price as one of the reasons to change congregational issues? Our religion is now openly in their management style: it is American based and the American way is central when it becomes their management style. Please note: most of the witness live in Africa, South America and Europe!
I never expected they would show their management style so openly in a letter to all congregations! (...)

.."out of order"..no vending machine is complete at a jw assembly, without an "out of order" sign on it.....of course it`s not true..the machine works fine..it`s just one of the many lies jw`s are willing to accept from the wbt$.....although..this lie is extremely large and visible,it`s a frigg`n vending machine!..lol!
!.............does the management that rents the facilities to the wbt$,know the wbt$ is disabling them?....does the owners of the vending machines know the wbt$ is disabling them, and interfering with their right to do business in that facility?......could the wbt$ be sued for loss of vending machine business?.......wouldn`t it be fun to let the vending machine owners know their machines are being disabled,at jehovah`s witness assemblies?......it would mean more bad publicity for the wbt$ for lying and court cases they couldn`t win...................outlaw
In our convention hall, the Dutch WTS had placed a visa/mastercard acceptpoint! It was functional for 2 years. A few years ago they have stopped this service.
It was a local idea. I have no picture of it. Of course, there was a long row of loyal witness behind it to do donations by bankcard.
Believe it or not, it is true. I posted this 2 years ago.

yep, there's no excuse for any of you lot.. if a sister of 106 can auxiliary pioneer last memorial season, so can you.. this ancedote was in the jan km - puke making - what the heck was a 106 year old doing going from door to door, and i mean this literally, not just phone witnessing.. have these people got no sense?
i mean 106 years old and making 50 hours a month - for what?.
if anyone here has the us km, please upload it here as i don't have a scanner..
I was there (in the K-hall) when it was discussed. The service-department is writing this stuff, the local elder was using it to blame us who do not pioneer. They don't understand that content like this will drift away thinking witnesses. Every evening in the hall makes it more clear for me: this is a well created system for building property and selling books, with a sauce of american way religion.

i had an interesting conversation with my still active mother last week.
i asked her point blank if she ever stopped to think that maybe not everything the society told her was right.
yet she still stays.
What makes me stay? Family. I''m sick of the organisation. Did Jesus had an organisation? Or did he sell buildings for 200.000.000$ ? All the dubble speach... But going out is loosing my family. But i'm fading. When i'm in the KH... bluh. And now the new-light coming again... bah. )):

i wonder what they will do with this money?.
Thanx to JWD I have the answer: they invest the money. MorganStanley Liquid Asset Funds etc.
One thing they do not: helping poor people in thirth-world-country's with much needed aid.
Think twice before you put your money in the box in the kingdomhall.

using various online databases i looked up what was available on ciro aulicino who is well known for getting the watchtower signed up as an ngo with the united nations.
the following information was returned.
note that his residences have all been at watchtower owned addresses.. considering his age, and dependence upon the watchtower for most of his life, ciro probably won't be considering any change in his relgion!.
Thanks a lot for the link to the telephone directory of the WTS. As a JW I never could get a picture of the internal organisation of the WTS. The directory gives me (and you) a direct answer about the organisational structure of the headoffices. Example: check Executive Offices, Brooklyn and you get 10th floor information. Who is in charge at the 10th floor? You get the names! Not only GB but also others with an own office, the inner circle. This directory gives me the information I needed, it's a real corporation! Executive Offices...Travel desk etc.
Great!
