  Nice. Question, though. How is it that when the 12 largest countries (in terms of JW's) are listed, and only 3 of them have positive growth, that the overall growth is +1.3%??? Are we really supposed to believe that enough people came into the organization in the 'little' countries to achieve that much total overall growth?? I guess we really knocked out some baptisms on Samoa this year. Those congregations in Balize are growing like wildfire....

  Please. The Society is so used to publishing figures for the average believing witness that they don't even bother to lie right.

  Oh, and to our mates in the UK....you guys are falling down on the job. Pick it up men and women. You achieved a positive growth rate...this cannot happen again next year.....you'll all be fired as apostates and forced to go back to meetings....<lol>

  i hated service, hated getting up early, hated wearing dresses/skirts,hated bugging people early on the weekend, hated "preparing" for service (all i did was read the little blurb on the inside of the awake lol) hated being grouped with elder ihatecoffeebreaks and sister letsdoonemoredooreventhoughits12.......one day brother ihatecoffeebreaks asked me why my time was dropping in service and i said "because i hate service" ( i mean i was taught to be honest right?

  ok folks, i know there are some creative people on this board so help me out here.

  i'm successfully fading so far, but every now and again i get some well meaning zealot ask me about my missing the 5 weekly brainwashing sessions and the priviledge of hocking crap door to door.

  as sort of a reverse reasoning book, lets see some good conversation stoppers that wont give away my position.

  These are some great replies. I'm still laffing.....

  If you want to go the serious, respectful route (lol) use the chemical sensitivity one. It works great. In nearly every congregation I've been in, there's been SOMEONE who is allergic to the hall....just like I am now...lol. I don't know your situation, but try 'caring for an elderly relative'. Work scheule is a good one, especially if there are other congregations in your area. Of course, if I know JW's, they know half the other cong's around and will call and check up on you.

  Brother Nosy: Noticed you've been missing quite a few meetings.

  You: Well, I've always put the Kingdom first and felt it was inappropriate to attend college. Now I have to work 16 hours a day to make ends meet so it's really hard on the meeting schedule. Is there any type of loving provision by which I can get paid to attend the meetings?

  How Can A Parent Watch Another Parent Torture A Child To Death?

  in nyc, there's a case of a little girl who was regularly beaten and "disciplined" y her stepfather with the mother's knowlege, explaining that here 8 (?

  ) year old daughter was at times "insolent and sneaky".

  eventually, the man tortured her to death.

  In some cases of abuse, only one child is singled out for abuse. Some how the abuser convinces the rest of the family that this person is deserving of the abuse.

  I worked at a Children's Hospital in Fort Worth in the early 1990's, and we had a child who was 13 y/o and weighed just 47 pounds. He was chained to a wall in the family's travel trailer and starved. The mother and father were two grossly obese pigs who would eat Mickey D's in front of this starving child. The younger brother, however, was not abused at all. The parents stated that the younger brother was well-behaved while the older one behaved like an 'animal'. Really? Chain him up and he behaves like an animal?? He died shortly after being admitted and his parents stood trial in Galveston in the mid 90's. They both received lengthy prison sentences. Hopefully they received their 'justice' while inside.....

  Seriously. Why are you guys so upset? I work in a Catholic hospital and these sappy made up emails are passed around and posted every day. It lets people feel good about something they believe in. Most of you on this thread obviously believe in evolution. Obviously some people don't. Getting upset and railing on them for doing something that brings them a little happiness, regardless of how stupid you may think it is, won't change them, their behavior, or the way they look at things. Just like trying to convince most JW's that they are misled. They'll pass around stories about "Jehovah's blessing" on the preaching work, and how college ruins every Witness that goes, etc.

  These little stories about how little Sally or little Jimmy explain the existance of the world with one statement are rediculous sure, but to the people that believe them and find them inspiring, well...we should let them have that....

  yesterday (monday) i was off school and work, and i told my mother i would go out in service.

  so monday morning i got up, got dressed, drove to the hall, and there was no one there.

  i fell asleep in my car while i waited, woke up to wave at a brother, then fell back asleep, and then woke up, looked around and left.

  It stated in the article that the WTS was suing for $100,000 Canadian...hmmm...<doing math in head>....

  isn't that like, ten bucks U.S.? We could have pitched in and paid the fine......

  for those who have spelling problems you can go to google and down load their tool bar.

  it has spell check in it and works pretty easy.

  then you will no longer have to listen to us that bitch about spelling.
