Amazing.
Seeing those gates again for the first time in 4 years turns my stomach in knots.
I used to catch those paddywagon's to and from Patterson all the time.
Memories......
*sigh*
i will try to come back later and give editorial comments.
a familiar family.

ok, question for all the non dubs.
am i the only one who went totally wild (sexually) when i got df'd?
well, i actually went wild when i turned 21 and became inactive.
Awww man! This was my first troll experience. I couldn't help but relate to the way Sword was talking in circles without ever really answering a question. (relate in the sense of hearing the same type of circular reasoning from current dubs)
How is it all Witnesses reason the way they do? How can they overlook things that are so plain to everyone else in the WORLD? You don't wait for Jehovah in the case of a murder, so how is child molestation is any different?!?! It's a CRIME for God's sake, not some petty sin.
The rule should be: If a brother or sister is accused of molestation, the matter should be turned over to the authorities IMMEDIATELY.
The END. They're trying to be the police in this regard to protect their asses, and it's going to come back and haunt them. It already is.
so sad, so sad....
in regards to sex, i went a little wild, but not much. I'm in my third serious relationship in 4 years, so i didn't have much time to play around a whole lot. It's all good though, I'm happily in love and more than satisfied!!! In fact, my neck hurts right now....
(yes, that's why)
.
hey vivamus, i must say that the most beautiful women i've ever seen were in the netherlands.
blond hair, blue eyes all over the place - amazing!

So how could one see more of what you look like??
a friend visited us today... it took about five minutes before we were having a general moan about the ways things are!
anyway.. these friends of ours were telling us about the things that go on in the families of elders in various congregations and how these guys are still in office.. .
now i thought that if you were 'appointed' it meant that you had god's blessing and approval... but how does that work out if you are allowing unscriptural things to go on in your own family and yet you are still in office?
The organization is full of HYPOCRISY.
"Do this, don't do that." Everybody knows the rules, few obey them 100%, yet they're all "saved" just by being affiliated with the organization.
They're always so quick to judge others. The elders are quick to take sides and obviously don't always make the right decisions, yet this is "God's arrangement" so we're supposed to follow them regardless. I've heard so many stories of how people have been done wrong, yet i've NEVER heard of judicial cases that were later on proved to be incorrect and the person reinstated...?? I'd love to hear one if there's one to be related. Just like all the people that were disfellowshipped after oral sex was deemed a sin - how many of them were reinstated years later when "the light shone brighter" and it was up to the individual?? Yeah, like they'd proactively seek out all those that left and try to work with them to help them come back.....i doubt anything remotely close to that happened, but if I'm wrong I'd LOVE to hear about it.
Everything is so status-oriented. Being a servant or elder or circuit overseer, and even for sisters, a wise, spiritual brother will look for a pioneer etc...they're all status symbols to show others how spiritual you are, which can easily be faked. (speaking from experience) (I was spiritual and still am, it was just easy to lead a double life).
"I'm the ultimate spiritual person." (hold nose in air)
I can say this because I was caught up in it. It was cool! Being a Bethelite was almost like being a movie star. People give you mad props - all the girls want to meet you and talk to you....it was such a trip! From a Witness point of view, it was definitely commendable on youths parts to not get caught up in the bad things of the world, but geez....there's a ton of Witnesses out there that are just as spiritual yet do not qualify for Bethel, and they get NO PROPS.
In the end, it's not going to matter what religion you belong to, what rank you hold or how many people you've told about God. It's all about the right heart condition, which ties in hand in hand w/ Jesus' message. Forget all the rules and focus on loving one another and God. I mean, what religion can really claim they have 100% of God's holy spirit, direction and blessing??? If I were God right now I don't know if I could pick any Religion and say "these people have my blessing." I know I'd be able to pick certain individuals out of all religions based on their heart condition, but I'd NEVER consider blessing one particular religion over the rest of the world. Just seems like common sense to me. ?? How can I condemn Varsha from India for not being Christian and/or a JDub when he's not had any exposure to Christianity? How can I condemn any American who doesn't want to be Catholic or JDub because they've heard of all the sexual abuse amongst the LEADING OFFICIALS OF THE ORGANIZATION?! They're the ones supposed to be setting the example. It just can't be that simple, and I don't know what it will take for people to understand that.
I've heard so many elder stories where they do not look out for the interests of the woman of a house. That disturbs me deeply. It actually pisses me off to be honest. I hate the way society looks down on women - I thought the borg was above this but obviously I'm wrong.
It's a constant battle not to get depressed over this. Sometimes it gets the best of me. I'm thankful for my girlfriend - she's the only one that continues to encourage me and support me. It's really frikkin hard sometimes.
i know jehovahs witnesses have expressed various people who were in concentration camps.
i have never seen in print their acknowledgement of blacks being there.
although blacks, in their publications of being in the camps, mention jehovah's witnesses.
I'm shocked to read some of those quotes coming from articles as late as the 50's and even the 70's. CRAZY.
And that's the first time I've ever heard of having children with charactericstics of the country they're born in! That's the silliest thing i've heard all day! hahahaha
silent witnesses
the catholic and anglican churches in australia are already engulfed in the scandal of child abuse, with mounting evidence that they have covered up sexual assaults by members of the clergy and allowed paedophiles to continue preying on young victims, often for years.
this week, we reveal another church has been routinely covering up cases of child abuse in its ranks.
Hey refiners fire, i don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you're not....hold up a sec. You can't be 100% sure what they based those comments on. While it may be true most of the elders would not say anything to provoke such a statement, it is quite possible someone did. Unfortunately, every single elder represents the whole organization, therefore one "bad apple" may have ruined the whole barrel in this regard.
You have to admit that the borgs lack of turning over molestors to the authorities in itself automatically implies to others that they are "above the law." True, their policies seem more geared to adhering the law now, but sadly that hasn't always been the case.
At any rate, those in high positions get the most criticism, whether that position be religious, secular, etc. Any mistake or slip-of-the-tongue will be caught by someone.
regards,
back2dafront
please bear with me through this, this could likely become lengthy.
i feel it's time for me to give you my story as a dub.
i was born and raised in an extremely "hardcore", strict witness home.
Lin,
Incredible story - I too have many emotions going on right now - the foremost being hatred for your father. What kind of man does he think he is? What kind of man doesn't look out for the interests of his family first? Ugh....and being guilted into staying with an abusive mate makes no sense whatsoever. They should be ashamed of themselves!! I wish their wives would kick the living &%#$ out of them and then see how it feels.
you continue to stay strong - my thoughts are with you.
warmest regards,
jason
anybody else ever get angry at the fact that witnesses think they're the only righteous ones in the world?
it bothers me so much.
it's like they say it's ultimately up to jehovah to decide, but in the same breath they condemn you if you're not a dub.
Yeah, that's the sad thing about it. Everyone thinks they know exactly how He wants to be worshipped, and they criticize or worse yet kill others that don't agree with them. Instead of nit-picking on inconsequential "little" things, why not focus on a common focus and theme of ALL religions - LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Leave the rest up to God.
It seems so simple.

And the fact that they consider everything printed by WBTS as the ultimate truth and fact just drives me INSANE!!!! There are so many different theories and philosphies on life and how we got here - their conviction is just a small percentage of the global beliefs, yet they are so undoubtly assured that they are THE ONES. It's so sad that most of them don't even entertain the thought or idea that there is a possibility they could all be misled - they don't think that's possible. ???
I'm just so frustrated. Who knows what tomorrow will bring - why let something like beliefs ruin your relatoinship with your FAMILY?!?! The world's a crazy place.
i have never considered myself to be full of a bunch of trauma and tragedy.
at least when i compare it to some.. have you ever known the type of people though, that always have something new happening that is traumatic.
you know the type, if it isn't a sick child it is a argument.
Reminds me of a beautiful Finnish girl I dated last year. She constantly had bad things going on.
Her cousin was killed in an auto wreck.
She was in an auto wreck.
Her friend got killed in an auto wreck.
Then she went to the hospital for some sort of blood disorder that had developed. she was sick for a long time.
Then something else happened that I'll omit, but it was WAY crazy and finding out later, totally fabricated to pull my chain and get money from me. (I think she didn't know how to take being rejected. Looks ain't everything, girlfriend).
Then she got married - alas! Good news!
Her husband flew out to Finland to visit her.
He was killed in an auto wreck upon returning back to San Francisco.
WHATEVER!!! That girl was CRAZY and I managed to date 3 consecutive ones in a ROW all in the same year!!! Finally, I've scored and will be getting engaged next year.
thank the LORD cuz I was pretty intent on giving up on the relationship thing.
