  "Un-baptism" questions please

  my eldest child has asked to be baptized next month as a jw.

  the court has ordered i have to give written permission if the child is under 18. .

  i am going to consent, but only if she studies with me and can answer my baptism questions.

  The 144,000-A club for Men Only???

  i was just reading some passages out of the new world translation, and stumbled upon something very interesting.

  we all know rev 14:1, which numbers the 144,000, but reading the scriptures after that i noticed verse 4 which states that "these are the ones that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins".

  this seems to show that the 144,000 would be comprised of virgin men.

  my witness friends and i bought doom 3 yesterday to play at my house.

  i let one of my friends play first and it scared him so he quit.

  next day at the meeting, i tell them how intense the game is, and they are all like "you should burn the game you should throw away the game.

  Turns out liquor store in my neighborhood is owned by JW's

  i was very surprised, here in alberta, canada, they privatized the liquour stores about 10-15 years ago, and the amount of stores tripled, practically one on every corner now, .

  well, it turns out, that one store in my neighborhood isowned and operated by this family that are jehovah's witnesses, belong to a chinese congregation, .

  i would think this would not be allowed, or show poor judgement, they say its wrong to have a store and sell cigarettes, but maybe alcohol is ok, .

  the garden of eden narrative in genesis 2-3 (j) is generally thought to have a mythological background, and its sumerian and akkadian parallels have been widely noted: the resemblence between the tale of adapa and the story of adam and eve's deception regarding the death-dealing fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the story of adam's creation and life with the animals and the tale of enkidu from the epic of gilgamesh, the edenic blessedness described in the tale of enmerkar, and so forth.

  the canaanite and phoenician parallels however are not noted as often -- though these would be more pertinent to the native judean context of the eden narrative.

  this post will explore some of these parallels in an attempt to trace the mythological background of the eden story, which is complex and multi-layered.

  according to a pro-islam website... islam?s history is filled with conquest and violence.

  i was intrigued by another posters post about how the crusades were in response to the muslims invading the western world... so i had to do my own research to see if this was actually true.. as it turns out, the muslims have a habit of trying to take over the world.

  An allegory: The Twelve Brothers

  when i first was beginning to see the light, i wrote this allegory as a spin on the old "what if you found a house in the middle of a desert" illustration witnesses use all the time.

  i wrote it to explain in non-threatening terms to my witness friends the way i was seeing the universe.

  just thought i'd see what you all think..... * * * .
