Original sin ?????
by vitty ini was listening to the god channel yesterday and was really surprised to hear the speaker talk of the original sin "sex" between adam and eve.
i thought only the catholics believed that, how do christians come to that conclusion.?.
i know there are christians on this board so if you can answer it, im very interested in it.. is it only the jws who believe it was disobedience ?.

Perhaps our universe is simply one of many universes, comprising a multiverse.
perhaps ;-)
talking with a friend about it he said...
maybe there's a jehovah for every universe or planet with life on it. and they also have a god.. and so on. and our jehovah is responsible for our earth.
hard to argument on "perhaps" and "maybe" constructs. i usually then respond: maybe we're all living in the matrix and are only computer programs... -

Why have you rejected all forms of faith?
by AlmostAtheist init seems that when a person leaves jw's, there's just no telling where he'll end up spiritually.
christian, jew, pagan, jamesthomasism -- i dare say every faith is represented among us.. but there are those that reject faith altogether.
they are often accused of letting the watchtower steal god from them, or throwing the baby out with the bath.. are you one those that rejected faith altogether after your exit?

The question regarding love was not to make faith in a god appear more rational, but to illustrate that we operate on faith on many levels, both in our secular life and for those of us that have a spiritual life.
somewhere in the many threads about it i commented on the different semantics of "belief". the belief in a god can not remotely be compared to our daily "believing" in something. every "secular life" belief has some backup.
if i believe i left my keys at home on the table, i believe it because it maybe already happened to me once or that's the last where i saw it. when i go home to pick it up and it is NOT there, i won't be that surprised, because i only "believed" it, i didn't *know* it. in "secular life" believing = not knowing (for sure).
in religion/faith, "believing" won't be substituted for "not knowing (for sure)". because as soon as you say "i don't know for sure if there's (a) god(s) or other invisible entities" you're already on your way becoming an agnostic. -

Men who drive around with a blow-up woman in the car.
by Elsewhere ini saw something very disturbing this morning.
i parked my car in the downtown dallas area and in the parking lot across the street i see a grey ford mustang.... with a fake redhead woman sitting in the passenger seat.
it was painfully obvious that this guy was using "her" so he could drive in the hov lane.

Kingdom of Heaven...anyone seen this movie?
by candidlynuts in.
i watched it last night..... ya know.......... it took place over 1000 yrs after christ, and here we are 1000 yrs later... all the centuries of faith and dying "for god" or in the name "of god" whichever religion you may be and we're supposed to believe that jesus is coming again?
um i might be an awful person for having such thoughts but hey jesus, your and mohammeds last visits caused a shitload of problems on the earth, if you come again, be better preprared this time k?

unless you have a uber cool huge flat screen t.v with surround sound
it's not the same. it can't replace all the people around you commenting the movie, making noise and throwing around pop-corn. -

Grace: What is it?.
by Lady Lee inthis may seem like an odd topic for me to handle but i have had this rolling around in me for a long time.. i'm sure many of us recall the oft repeated quote from jws that "faith without works is dead" the concept of grace is unknown to them.
one website gives one aspect of it as.
grace is a beautiful word, truly a great bible truth is resident in this word.

"faith without works is dead" thats not exactly right, a better phase would be that evil triumphs when good people do nothing!
"faith without works is dead" is not a JW phrase, it's a bible phrase. outch! ;-)
