Thanks.
We live in remarkable times.
When I was an active JW all those many decades ago I think I would have listened to such as this
if they had existed.
Nothing existed as a counterbalance exposing JW's except the occasional poorly written screed.
We live in a time where there is little excuse but fear to prevent a JW from peeling back the edges.

Why do ultra rich jehovahs witnesses get a free pass when it comes to being materialistic?
by hoser ini know a couple of jws in my town that are both very wealthy.
one has upscale retail stores and owns a property development company.
the other has a large service company and owns a lot of real estate.

If I stand on one side of a large aquarium and gaze through it to your side of the aquarium at you,
you can do the same looking at me.
Neither of us imagines for a fleeting second the other person is actually immersed in water tickled by swimming fish!
But--Jehovah's Witnesses have a way of looking at the world THROUGH a kind of aquarium-ideology, imagining
water and fish ARE a part of the world.
Whatever that mechanism is which REMOVES the aquarium barrier and prevents their mind from INCLUDING IT, is absent for them
CONTROLLED CONTEXT
Through a series of stages of learning, Newbies go through layers of indoctrination.
1. Forced perspective comes in early stages of "studying the Bible" using WT literature. The questions at the bottom of the page CONTROL context
for curiosity.
2. Fewer and fewer opportunities for contact with non-JW's constricts the flow of outside information. Context tightens.
3. Fellowship with JW's restricts agreement/disagreement which reinforces a singular perspective. A World View is instilled.
4. Loyalty to GB POV becomes the only path to total acceptance, promotion and opportunity.
5. Occasional DF-ing of the flock increases anxiety about non-conformity. Shunning signals the price of individuality.
6. Cognitive dissonance allows a small compartment (double life) for holding on to sanity.
7. Only by refusing to acknowledge the discrepancy can the JW hold on to their sense of safety in a cruel and evil world.

What does all that have to do with WEALTH?
When I was a JW and first started associating around the Kingdom Hall, I noticed the difference in treatment of wealthy witnesses.
When I asked about it I discovered a weird perspective. Having a rich person in the KH gave the rank and file a sense of inclusion
rather than exclusion. How so?
They saw it as embracing diversity! A kind of lion and lamb scenario.
The New World Society was equal opportunity for inclusion of races, backgrounds, economic status and sexes.
Ha ha ha. I thought this was silly. Except, the longer I was around it, the more it normalized. I conformed by dint
of constant exposure.
Celebrity JW's, such as Mickey Spillane, could write books about sex and violence and remain in good standing! How?
They showed that Jehovah's people weren't oddball Puritans--they were REAL people!
The polarity used by a JW in filtering out discrepant facts was and is ASTOUNDING.
___________________________
Every thought and behavior is being controlled.
The GB seeks to be the puppetmasters and they are succeeding.
Prince, Michael Jackson, and all the other JW celebs are seen through the aquarium and the water and the fish are part of the
special status world. Don't doubt it.

If I Were Still A JW I Would Think We Had To Be Living At The Time Of The End!
by minimus inwith all the terrible things happening on this earth, i bet most witnesses feel that jehovah god has to step in..

I once compiled a chart of the latest STATISTICS of incidents of Earthquakes, crimes, etc.
Such phenomena are used by End Times
promoters to excite fear and promote their agenda.
I wanted to create a QUIZ.
What does a person think compared with reality?
___________________
For example, if you ask a Jehovah's Witness to answer a question about the rate of kidnapping or homicides in America over the last decade
you can write down their guesstimate and compare it with the latest statistics.
In the first three tests, my JW sampling was off the charts (over a thousand per cent) wrong.
Bloody hell!
I wasn't surprised and yet I continue to be.

A person living today receives information about the world at large on a daily basis.
HOW IS THAT INFORMATION FILTERED?
Certain kinds of filtering OMIT details and include others.
Duh!
JW's are likely too busy and too biased to go beyond the indoctrination they receive.
News programs use the standard: IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS.
Good people, kind deeds, good news is NOT reported commensurably.
The Watchtower and the Awake are like the dirty oil filter on a car. When a JW handles them, reads them, absorbs the
gunk--their minds grow dark, oily and repugnant.
_______________-
THE SIGNS of the time of the end are COMMONPLACE events all through history.
None can stand out--if you have a clear view of everything going on over the long stretch of time.
WWI compared to the 30 Years War is quite a different proposition from how Jehovah's Witnesses interpret
significance.
In JW-land, there is no Good, Better, Best in our world; only WORST.

If you refuse to see that improvement it is confirmation bias installed by a sick ideology.

by kneehighmiah inthe difficulty of finding a marriage mate is well known for sisters.

THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM with marriage is not the pitiful choice of mates so much as it is the opportunity
to date, explore, figure out personal tastes, talk freely about wants and needs--in short: SELF-EXPRESSION as an INDIVIDUAL . . .
BEFORE committing to a life of marriage.
JEHOVAH'S WITNESS MARRIAGE IS AN ACT OF DESPERATION!
________________________________
The Watchtower Corporation's ORGANIZATION doesn't give a shit about ORGANIZING social opportunities, programs and facilities.
The Governing Body, deep down DESPISES people--especially its own.
The GB seeks to make everybody's life a living hell with a pasted smile.
I've talked to thousands of JW's and the inside of witness men's minds there is dysfunction.
Witness men are extremely, neurotically dysfunctional. They want/don't want sex.
(Did you just say, "Don't want sex?")
Yes--in the strict, joyless straitjacket style of the Kingdom Hall cult--men DON'T WANT that kind of sex, which is resentful sex.
The same bifurcation that strikes cognitive dissonant witnesses assaults their sexual gestalt.
WHY?
_______________
The Governing Body, with it's endless list of rules, regulations, cautionary fear-mongering, and anti-feminist polices, has
made Jehovah's Witness men ambivalent about women in general and sexuality in women specifically.
THE LIMITS on what can and cannot be done pervades.
___________
BIG BROTHER is watching!
JW men are controlling, resentful and dissatisfied with life.
HOW CAN THERE BE ANY JOY in the bedroom?
______________-
To top it all off, ELDERS PRY into every JW family's privacy and get all up into the "sick" details of intimacy.
Elders probe. They interrogate and seek to embarrass.
Moreover, you can be ratted out by your partner whose GUILT can come out of nowhere leading them to confess
to the Priestlike Elder all of your bedroom secrets!
THIS WEIGHS HEAVILY.

Religion and Sex are bitter enemies.
Jehovah's Witnesses are particularly backward in this regard.
Wives are depressed, distressed and overburdened.
Men are underachieving pantywaist factotums working their ass off for very little reward.
THE YOUNG PEOPLE SEE ALL OF THIS and silently calculate their own prospects for the future!
That's the real problem.

THE IMPONDERABLES TOPIC (Enter at your own risk)
by Terry ini suggest taking this slowly .
.. consider the difference between taking a poll about an upcoming election and the actual vote itself on the day of the election.. the information gathered about what the vote will be is provisional.
the vote on the day of the election is actual and official.. it is the one that counts.. now, carefully ask yourself what the specific difference--if any--there is between the poll information and the election result as an identical knowledge of.

Does anybody see any pattern?
I think an "active" response is like the weather. If a certain number of folks happen to be in just the right mood at the same
time there will be a chain-reaction (many micro-causes and micro effects) multiplying into a storm.
I've posted topics I worked a long time getting just right only to have no interest shown at all.
I think it is timing. At least I hope it isn't me--but--I won't rule that one out!

GETTING THINGS STRAIGHT. Who invented the "FDS" as a prophetic identification of the GB? WHEN?
by Terry in15 july 1906 issue of the watch tower russell stated maria russell was the first who in 1894 "called attention to matt.
24:44-45, applying it to me at a meeting at allegheny and in another meeting with the new york church.
i demurred that i had not thought of the passage thus, and declined to make any personal application of it, although i could not deny the force of the argument....i urged great moderation in the making of any personal application" (p. r3811).

KEYPOINT:
If you asked an Elder WHERE the proper understanding of Matthew 24 came from (re: GB/Organization) they COULD NOT
tell you it was from Pastor Russell's WIFE!
They DON'T know.
They would NOT believe you even if you read it out of the Watchtower magazine!
It is UNTHINKABLE!
I think our job is to publicize this one fact until they HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING.

JW.org Kiosks whats up with these? Where did this idea come?
by Crazyguy inhas anyone seen these in their area.
they are kiosks, small buildings either inside an area of a larger building like a mall or outside by themselves maybe on a major street.
not sure whats all in them but from what i can gather there a bigger fancier version of the book shelf on wheels that is so popular now.
