i just recently got a facebook page and started to look up some old jw friends (im a long time fader).
i see there pictures and comments and feel kinda jealous that they all look happy (im in a rough stage in my life).
i never was happy as a jw, and since i faded i am more comfortable in my own skin....the future looks bright for me.

But i bothers me, and makes me wonder if they really are happy as JW's, or are they putting on a smile for the camera. maybe happy people are happy no matter waht religion there in, im just not one of those type a people, i guess.
Where you ever truly happy as a JW?
well, here's my latest "thing"...i plan on speaking with my siblings & their mates in the near future.
i have told them that i have questions regarding some doctrines, mainly stuff like birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc.
my hubby has some questions for them regarding their wacky blood doctrine (but i wont cover that in this thread).
Do the Jews of today celebrate birhtdays? If so, is it something they follow in the old testament, or is it in there orginizational doctrine?
i was quite young but, i did not hear any details of it until i was a adult.
as the story goes, it all started in the 80's with a bethelite couple coming back home after the fred franz incident in ny.
they started to spread these so called "apostate" ideas, in the weekly book study.

As far as i know they cleaned house Disfellowshipped some people (dont know how many) and the Congregation was dissolved.
Anyone, know about this Scandal?

i received this encouraging email from a jw today.. ughhh...it makes me sick....what bull!.
a man was having a conversation with god one day and said, 'jehovah, i would like to know what the difference is between the light of your truth and the darkness of satan?
jehovah led the man to two doors.

A man was having a conversation with God one day and said, ' Jehovah , I would like to know what the difference is between The Light of your Truth and The Darkness of Satan ? '
Jehovah led the man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, 'You have seen The Darkness.'
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The man said, 'I don't understand.'
It is simple,' said God. 'It requires but one skill. You see they have
learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.'
MORAL:
We need our brothers and sisters in these last days to help build each other up and stay spiritually strong. We may have our differences, but in order to remain in God's love and continue the flow of spiritual food to ourselves, we have to put aside those differences, resisting our tendency to harbor resentment, and search out ways to help each other. Otherwise, we will become so consumed with only helping ourselves, that we may be inadvertently cutting off the only food that can keep us alive in this starving world.
WHATEVER!
i've heard stories from people multiple times about their trips to california and how they were surprised to find out how lax the witlesses out there were concerning rules, behavior.
just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that.
I went to california (LA/Valley) to visit some JW friends last year (im still fading out). At first they seem pretty normal for Midwesten JW Standards. But one night we went out for drinks at great lounge in West Hollywood called The "SKyBar". All kind of socialites, movie business people, talking about acting & stuff. it was exciting, i though i would see someone famous, but no dice. Then one buddy asked me, "have you meet all these brothers before"? Brothers? What Brothers? I said.
It turned out 1/2 of the people in the bar were JW's....I was like NO WAY! Women scantly dressed (some look like models), Metrosexual model type guys, all kind of highly fashionable people getting there DRINK ON.
It was so different, I mean...normal (worldy).
What did i expect? To see them with badges? Im such a dope...but i did loved CALI.

next weekend congregations around the world will be studying the wt article on the new definition of a "generation".. i would think there will be an epidemic of cognitive dissonance.
this must be the first time there has been a change of doctrine on a singular topic twice in 13 years.
for those still in like me, use the opportunity to get your partner thinking..
If this generation change is true, (because i have not looked up the article) then could i be Technically one of the "ANNOINTED"?
I should've had some Vino & Crackers at memorial....darnet!

i told my friend "flawed" by i really mean a "fraud".
i had lunch with one of my old jw friends a few days ago, and then he asked me, where i went for "memorial".. uhmmmm.
i did not want to lie, so i told me i did not go.

I did not want to lie, so i told me i DID NOT GO. He was shocked, and could not understand why. I tried to point out to him that we have been taught that only the "annointed" eat and drink.
I went on to tell him: I am not annointed, so this "celebration" is like going to a party, but not allowed to dance, eat, drink, or participate in any party activity, just sit there and watch. It serves no real purpose,
I can sit home and read the gospel and remember/appreciate Jesus Sacrifice.
There is no difference, unless im ANNOINTED.
Vvvvvvvvvrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmm, right over his head. I could not get through to him...
Can anyone help me explain, why Memorial is a fraud, in the simplest terms?
(he is not the sharpes tool in the shed)
