DON'T HONOR THE DEAD----IT'S DEMONIC
by Mary inwell i got a threatening visit "shepperding call" from a couple of local elders last night.
seems "someone" saw me with a poppy on my coat yesterday, which of course is a big no-no.
they wanted to ask me about this in person.

"In Flanders field the poppies grow..." I'd paste the poem but since I still haven't figured out why I can't get paragraphs, it would probably just be a big mess. Try this link-----http://www.geocities.com/~worldwar1/default-poppies.html

Best Healing... Leave or Stay JWD...
by Confucious inmy girlfriend is saying to me... .
just write a letter of disassociation, and join some other chat group and move on.
she loves you guys, because i often tell her about "what's going on here.

It's not like it has to be all or nothing...no one has to "DA" from JWD--as you heal and replace the time spent here with other things, you can "fade". Only you can set the timeline and if you need to come back, you know you will be welcomed.

....a group hug and 'hi' for tim horton?
by reboot in.
..wonder if anyone would like to help me send a hug and a 'hi' to tim; she's lovely and could do with a smile on her face at the moment...jw's can be pretty nasty when they're feeling righteous.....

A Witch Told my Friend he would Die... (serious thread - opinions)

It's funny, I was just thinking about The Four Agreements while reading another thread about confession--the part about humans replaying old mistakes over and over, without forgiving themselves, letting go and moving on. Regarding prophecies...while I believe there are those with genuine psychic abilites, there are more out there that are oportunists. Even the genuine are certainly not infallible and the very act of making a prediction changes things. If you're told you will be run over by a red truck, you'll be on the lookout for red trucks right? In any case, living your life for TODAY is never a bad thing! --Deb

Well, It's Worth a Try....
by FMZ ini know, i know, it sounds like a scheme / scam... but reputable sources (namely kevin rose on techtv) have said that this is not a scam.
it has been widely discussed on the internet and tv, and everyone says it works.
anyway.. yes... you can get a free ipod by just having 5 people sign up and take a quick survey (about 15 questions).

Words JWs--and ex-JWs--use :)
by bebu in(preface: i have never been a jw.
i notice words and phrases that strike me really odd, used by jws, and even by members on this board.
one that comes readily to mind is the use of the words one or ones when referring to people.

Thanks Blondie for the explanation of the "class" reference that a lot of posters use in their signatures. The first time my daughter's boyfriend referred to her as "wordly" she hit the roof. She took it to mean materialistic/greedy/shallow and was really offended. Now she uses it with sarcasm and rolled eyes. To me, it brought to mind some sophisticated, jetsetting lifestyle.---Deb

You know you're an apostate when... Or, My first Jack-o'-lantern!
by seattleniceguy inthat's right, that's right, i carved my first jack-o'-lantern!
it was much more easier than i thought it would be, and much more fun, too!
i don't think i did too shabby for my first try, but i definitely picked up some valuable insights by observing my roommate and her awesome cat-o'-lantern.

Carving the pumpkins has become a tradition for my husband and daughter to do together. They don't throw the seeds away though...they clean them, salt them and roast them to eat like sunflower seeds.---Deb

If I knew how, I would share a picture of our 7 year old pug, Bailey. We also have a Golden Retriever and until this spring, we had a Bernese Mountain Dog (cancer :-( ). Even though Bailey is the youngest and smallest, she still rules the pack--maybe because she is the only female? She also likes to bark a lot but she prefers riding on the golf cart to running!---Deb

What would you think?
by ConcernedMom inwhen i was a teenager, one of my friends started dating a jw.
he "wasn't into his religion, just his parents were.
" she ended up pregnant, quit school to get married and after that, we pretty much only saw her standing on street corners or in mcd's on sunday mornings after meetings, with her (3 i think) little boys all dressed up in their shirts and ties.

When I was a teenager, one of my friends started dating a JW. He "wasn't into his religion, just his parents were." She ended up pregnant, quit school to get married and after that, we pretty much only saw her standing on street corners or in McD's on Sunday mornings after meetings, with her (3 I think) little boys all dressed up in their shirts and ties. She moved to a nearby town and eventually to Ontario. I hadn't given her much though until my daughter started dating a JW. Anywhooo....a few days ago, there was an engagement notice in our local paper for her oldest son--probably about 25 now. The ad was put in by all his Mom's worldly family (lists them all from grandma/grandpa on down to the cousins). There is no mention of his mom or dad who both grew up here or his JW extended family who live here still. Before reading stories on this board, I probably wouldn't have made note of that but now I'm thinking the son was probably DFd/DAd/shunned and the worldly side of the family is making a show of support for him...on the other hand, maybe I'm reading too much into it and seeing shadows that aren't really there. What do you think?---Deb
