The Rainbow Myth
by Ranchette inwe've all heard the bibles' explanation of how the rainbow first appeared.
now i not an expert in science but i believe rainbows have occured every since since light and moisture in the air have existed.. that would be way before the alledged global flood.. my dictionary describes a rainbow asan arch of prismatic colors found in the sky oposite the sun and caused by refraction, reflection and dispersion of light in raindrops.. my dictionary describes rain this way the condensed vapor.
of the atmosphere falling in drops.. here's watchtowers definition of rain from the insite book page 728,. a vital part of the cycle by which water that rises into the atmosphereb as vapor from land and water surface of the globe and falls to the ground.....at an early point in the history of the preparation of the earth "god had not made it rain upon the earth "but" a mist would go up from the earth and it watered the entire surface of the ground.gen2:5,6;1:9-13. hmm, sounds like rain to me.. I've never seen rivers flowing across a flat surface, that's really weird expat! Is the fact the earth was flat a society teaching? I've never heard of it before, especially in view of the Garden of Eden pictures with mountains?
What about rivers without rain, I've never heard of that either?
What about the fact the mountains can be scientifically dated and are millions of years too old? -

Imperfect? How's That?
by patio34 init's common to see "we're all imperfect humans" or the like.
my question is who says?
aside from the bible and religious teachings, that statement is untrue.

I agree with you and just to add my own two thoughts:
1. What people consider as genetic imperfections are created by the same evolutionary processes which create genetic advancements.2.If on a distant planet, life evolved that never got sick or died of old age, it would rapidly over populate it's planet which in turn would rapidly run out of the resources to support life.
Maybe it's happened, who knows?

Genesis chapter two describes the rivers in the garden of Eden several verses after the one that says there was no rain.
FACT: Rivers are part of the same water cycle as rain. They cannot exist seperately. Read Genesis chap 2.
There is a major discrepancy there between there being no rain, rivers appearing and the first rainbow. -

Blood
by radar inhaving once been a public talks co-ordinator.. it was a source of bewilderment to me why no public talks were given on the subject of blood!.
of all the public talk outlines i had to assign to speakers, none were on that subject.. now considering that j.ws are known to the outside world by two things, namely door knocking and refusal of blood tranfusions.
it seemed strange that that there was not one public talk outline on that subject.. the only time we got a talk on it, was when i invited a local hospital liason elder to give a talk in our congregation.

Quite possibly they didn't like to mention blood or "bring it up" LOL in a "public" talk.

The internet is a wonderful thing in that it opens up channels of communication and brings people together, even if it is in cyber- space.
I don't see how anyone can suggest this place is not here for "support". It obviously is here for other reasons too, such as education, but consider the Japanese saying, "Is a bookshelf a bookshelf because it was built as such, or because it has books on it?"
Whatever Simon's goals were in setting up the site, if people come here for support, support which comes through this meeting of minds, then it will provide support. If (as a minority do) people come here to reek havok, then they get havok.
Saying the internet is a wonderful thing, well some might disagree. Part of the problem is that you're bringing many people together, who however similar simply don't know each-other, don't understand their idiosyncracies, can't see their body language, and can't even see whether they're a real human being or not.
I don't know if you realise, for instance, that most of what I say is slightly tounge in cheek, and I like playing devil's advocate, well there you go. People often don't realise this about me in real life, let alone on the internet! -

Some people were posting the questions asked them at their JC. Well I was at a double disfellowshipping (of me and my ex-wife) and after all the questions about the actual incident, one of the elders started reaming off a whole load of rapid fire questions such as: have you ever smoked, have you owned pornography, have you commited adultery, have you gambled? and so on, one question after another. I was absolutely astonished. I couldn't see any basis for this in the elders manual other than asking if there was anything else I wished to speak about.
It wasn't only the nature of these questions but it was the manner they were asked - it turned it into an interrogation.
Also, I was not told why the JC had been formed. I asked the elder why - over the phone and he refused to tell me. Can anyone tell me why, when the bible clearly states that you should approach your brother with a problem before going to the elders???
