  NATO The JW View?

  whilst not wishing to triplicate the nato thread, i wish to ask a question of a more religious nature concerning it.. the jehovah's witnesses place much emphasis on the scriptual relevance of the un but not nato.. what are the current thoughts on this in the organisation and is there likely to be any new light regarding the beasts of revelation yet again?.

  this also raises the question of the king of the north and the king of the south because if there is a ww3, it is not going to be between russia and america or democracy and communism but democracy and terroism?

  Terrible tradgedy - more deaths...

  not the terrible act of terrorism that we all saw on tv.... i was thinking of the 30,000 children under the age of 5 who will have died on the same day from malnutrition and other preventable diseases.

  slow, horrible deaths.

  these people are poor but the parents must love them as much as any 'rich westener' loves theirs.. the real tragic thing is that another 30,000 will die today and another 30,000 tomorrow... over 12 million a year in total .

  last week there was a fred (sorry thread) about the fact the world may be heading into recession and maybe it could be a sign of the end.

  i remember getting quite shitty about it, not only because i was fed up with people pointing at quirks in stock values and shouting "armaggedon", but also because jehovah's witnesses (who have a bigger following in america) only take note of events on their own door step, when in reality there are wars and suffering and many different financial situations around the globe.. well lets just hope that at least after this, they wont keep on about fluctuations on the stock market being a sign of the end.

  Planes just a diversion... Ambulances had bombs.

  i feel pretty sure about this, that the planes were just a diversion set to allow emergency vehicles easy access to the basement parking lot.

  eye witnesses placed a large explosion just before the south building came down.

  one thing is sure, the buildings did not come down as a result of the planes hitting them or any explosions due to that.

  I can't believe the crap some people come out with. There was no need for explosives on the plane, it contained enough fuel to make it a flying bomb.
  as regards fire at the bottom, what do you think happens when a plane crashes through a building cutting through the lift shafts, lift cables, and electrics spilling fuel and exploding as it goes?
  tell me this was a joke in bad taste?

  JW Theology and the NY disaster

  if i am misquoting the theology espoused by jws then please correct me.. but i am trying to appreciate their theology as far as death and armageddon are concerned.

  we know that the jw belief is as follows: "he who has died has been acquitted of his sin".

  this is often used to imply that almost all who die prior to the great tribulation or armageddon will receive a resurrection of life or judgement (ok we know sodom dudes, judas and the flood victims wont get one according to jw theology).

  well they have finally done it.

  they finally took our towers down.. the towers that i used to visit so much as a kid and adult.

  my twin towers.. i was mobilized yesterday as part of the nypd as the city went into it's highest security alert.

  i desparately tried to avoid this thread about anglo & american superiority.

  i truly did, until i read the "poppycock" about the british war efforts in the last century.. perhaps anglophiles should refresh their ancient and modern memories a bit before launching such laughable tirades of triviality and supposed triumph.. first, did not the english employ mercenaries during the battle of hastings to win the 100 years war?

  (since "expatbrit" is correcting me--i am modifying this)-- excuse me for my trivial error).

  I personally have nothing against Americans. But one thing which will generally get any Brit's back up, is when Americans claim to have won the war for us. Also the number of films which grossly exaggerate the Americans influence in the outcome of the war.
  Some Americans seem to think they know everything about the war after some fleeting propoganda at high school, but they often show complete ignorance as to the facts, and certainly have very little personal experience of it.

  please help me out a bit with this.. jws, as a religion, are taught to live peacably.

  they do not go to war nor will they generally support it.. now, if i were to play the role of an apologist, i think i would just keep hamering on this point.

  "catholic killing catholic and protestant killing protestant" was such a great phrase and ties in so nicely with johm 13:35. now, let me play devils advocate and hear some rebuttals.

  The Rainbow Myth

  we've all heard the bibles' explanation of how the rainbow first appeared.

  now i not an expert in science but i believe rainbows have occured every since since light and moisture in the air have existed.. that would be way before the alledged global flood.. my dictionary describes a rainbow asan arch of prismatic colors found in the sky oposite the sun and caused by refraction, reflection and dispersion of light in raindrops.. my dictionary describes rain this way the condensed vapor.

  of the atmosphere falling in drops.. here's watchtowers definition of rain from the insite book page 728,. a vital part of the cycle by which water that rises into the atmosphereb as vapor from land and water surface of the globe and falls to the ground.....at an early point in the history of the preparation of the earth "god had not made it rain upon the earth "but" a mist would go up from the earth and it watered the entire surface of the ground.gen2:5,6;1:9-13. hmm,sounds like rain to me..   I was more concerned with whether you could have rivers without rain. I think not. Rivers also indicate there is high ground which according to the JWs only rose up after the flood.
  I don't know why I'm continuing on with this though, it is obvious to see that the JW way of taking the Bible literally is all wrong. But they would have to take everything too literally, just like the no blood policy.
