My ribs hurt
by FrightMare inquestion: why did god use adam's rib to make eve.
why not his ass, his toe, his appendix or his ear?

Don't you think it's strange that God supposedly created millions of species male and female and somehow forgot to create Eve until the last minute.
Or was he being a bit sadistic and was waiting for Adam to notice.
"Hey God, what's this for?" -

what does this mean?
by outsider_looking_in in"and he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
and the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs.
the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

How Do OLD AGE JWs Feel?
by ballistic ini just want to know if jws that have been in the "truth" all their lives, having given all for the "kingdom" die in peace or whether in the autumn and winters of their lives, they are stung by nagging intrusive thoughts... "i have given my whole life to this organisation and where is the new system?".
i ask because these people were taught they were in "the last days" when they grew up many decades or even a century ago.
how can someone go that long believeing it was going to be tommorrow?

Do you remember that pic (I think it's in the Live Forever book) of someone being given directions with the caption... If you had been driving the wrong way, would pride or stubborness prevent you from admitting it?

Does anyone here believe the Bible?
by sawthelight inive noticed many posts relating to evolution and i'm just wondering does anyone frequenting this board believe in the bible?
it seems that just because most have bad experiences with the wt that everyone here is an atheist.
i myself was something at least of an agnostic for quite some time after breaking free of the borg, but now i see things in a different light.

I agree INTRO,
afterall, most of us here didn't study the bible, we studied the Watchtower and WT books at so-called bible-studies. -

Fallout Over The WT-UN Contraversey
by Ranchette inyes, fallout has already begun (literally)over the wt-un contraversey!.
a long time jw friend of ours told my husband today that he has already disassociated himself from the organization after seeing the proof of wt's immoral affair with the beast.. this was the last straw for him.. i wonder how many others this info is going to effect this way?.
we will see.. ranchette

No doubt the GB are getting ready to shed some NEW NEW light (perhaps the topic of a special meeting)?
Perhaps God was lying to them all along about the beast being the UN. Perhaps his spirit appointed slave did not need the correct understanding back then.
Perhaps the beast is now something completely different?
I don't know what; NATO, TERROISM, errrrrr..... STAR TREK?
or is it oral sex?I don't know, but I'm waiting for it.

I believed it was GODS WORD when I was a JW.
However, I have lost all faith in the bible and in any form of organised religion after I was disfellowshipped.
How can you base your life on something which is open to interpretation?
Especially when you have been brought up believing you have the only correct interpretation and it turns out to be a can of worms? -

Society CD ROM vs BOUND VOLUMES
by ballistic inseveral years prior to the release of the first edition of "the watchtower library" in england on cd rom in 1994, the society made an announcement that back-issues of bound volumes of the watchtower and awake would be available (for sale) by ordering through the literature desk.. many in the congregation had wanted a complete library of watchtowers for years and there was a frenzy of orders placed.
i, myself, ordered the complete collection.. however, upon receiving news of the cd rom becoming available, i wondered just why the society had made so many old re-prints available when they must have known about the future release of the cd.. this also coincided with the rules changing in england for the charging / donating for literature and i distictly remember a talk by an elder saying how much we should donate for the cd through the new donation process... something like "a comparible encylopedia on cd rom would cost 30 to 40 in the shops - so how much do you think we should donate for this treasure of god-given knowledge".. it just struck me that the literature sell-off was a last ditch attempt at making money, for fear that the cd rom combined with the new donation programme would spell disaster for the societys income.. any thoughts?.
i need a more recent copy of the cd rom if anyone has one?

Thanks for your points. Some of them have been raised in other threads.
However my point was about the fact the society set about a major reprint project before the CD ROM came out in order to profit from sales of old literature. In fact, I'm suprised the society produced a CD ROM at all, after all, this LIFE GIVING knowledge is not given away on the internet is it?
