huh, that's funny about the year text...about rules, I told someone today what I was disfellowshipped for, and they said to me that they had done the same, then went to an elder and the elder said... "oh, don't worry everyone does that".

Having Been Raised a JW
by ItsJustMe insince i was a raised a jw, it was pretty much forbidden for me to research the history of jws, outside of looking up the society's publication.. however, if i had not been raised a witness and was introduced to the religion, it would have been okay for me to do some research.
there would have been no repurcusions.
what is the wicked and evil truth they were trying to hide from me?

On this subject, does anyone have a copy of the tract, Jehovah's Witnesses in the 20th century. THis tract was withdrawn because of it's frank discussion of their past, and the fact that the GB are constantly studying and researching for truth. A different slant to what you read in the watchtower.

i don't know about the rest of you, but there's something that grates on me like new chalk on a blackboard.. i refer to that expression jws use to describe that threadbare tapestry of conjecture, fill-in-the-blanks theological approach to doctrines the bible leaves hazy and judgmental moralism that comprises the wt belief system-- you know, ``the truth," as in ``he/she left the truth,'' or ``how long have you been in the truth?''.
may i suggest that it be amended to ``the opinion?

Hey cornish, the Race family and Barry rings a bell. I was a child at the time, but I remember their names. I think we went on a walk with them once or twice to boscastle and once along the old railway line. Were they the family that went pioneering abroad or is that another bodmin family?

I still use the word "truth" as it is familiar to us all. It doesn't mean I believe it is the truth. I noticed a couple of posters use the term "trooth" to differenciate. I think the real test of "truth" is that it should never change and it is clear in the case of the Jehovah's Witnesses that it does change, even the "truth" book is out of date.

on this subject, why does the society not put out publications into the public domain? This information is supposed to save lives, is prophesised in the revelations none the less.
They now have this great new medium of the internet to disseminate it.
THey "place" so much emphasis on the number of sales of each book, but what about the number of readers they could achieve? -
