All the other things we need to be happy in the here and now do not all require it.
Money makes being utterly miserable happier than misery in poverty.

What does money represent to YOU ?
by new hope and happiness infor example does money represent to you power, love, joy and much more or does money represent to you feelings of worry, guilt, anger, sadness.. for myself i have always enjoyed living largely on little, and i can appreciate that the best things in life are free.
having said that i am glad i have been fortunate and sensible enough with money to never have exsperienced the anxiety of debt.
and it may sound silly but i dont think winning it big on the lottery would improve the quality of my life nor my family.

JW Literature... Lots of it... what to burn and what to keep?
by ILoveTTATT ini have lots and lots of watchtower literature... and i don't know what could be useful in the future to have as a reference or as a keeper.
i am definitely keeping the 1993 and 1994 bound volumes of the awake!
(no, we are not false prophets... down in the same page, the generation of 1914 will not pass... also the youths who put god the watchtower first).

Sell it on eBay. Even some of the books from the 60s go for forty dollars or more: things in which it is impossible for god to lie - (incidentally that is the one that explains why the witch tower translates ai'on with system of things")

Anonymous Donation - Not!
by why144000 inmy mother in law (in her 80's) just told me that she had the elders around to pick up her 'donation' pledge.
it was 'suggested that $20 a month was the average amount pledged but she could pledge more or less.
so, rather than an anonymous amount they have a signed document stating the amount of her pledge.

congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

The church teaches that anybody who lives an upright life and follows their conscience goes to heaven, no matter what they believe. It's based on Romans , wher people of the nations are "a law unto themselves".
so a Muslim, Buddhist JW, atheist can go to heaven as long as they lived life with integrity.
where this leaves Torquemada and others of his ilk is moot... Or the 7 popes in NY Crooklyn Beth Hell.

by hamsterbait ini want to know if the relaxing of rules on blood fractions bears any relation to the medical needs of gb members as they became more vulnerable to fatal conditions.
vaccines stopped being banned just before n h knorr went on his world tour and didn't want to come back from 3rd world in a coffin.. witchtowers of the time said members would have to take the consequences of standing by the old teaching on vaccines personally, wt hung them out to dry.. i dont have access to names or death certificates of gb members dying, but who can find this info, and how it might relate to conditions needing blood in some form?.
i reckon when the blood teaching bites the dust finally, the witnesses will be left out in the cold too: " follow your own conscience , it's your problem now, not ours...".
