  The mytholgy that thinker pointed out shows how the human spirit was moved toward Jesus, the connection between myth and reality. His whole life is a miracle - everywhere He went and everthing He did connects to the truths of our spirituality and mythologies and our ways of even being.

  Look at the dubs and the fundies - don't they nail Him down before they lift Him up?

  i'm guessing there is so much money involved, we couldn't hope to see an end to them, but that's what needs to happen imho.

  after all, jim and tammy faye bakker had lots of money associated with their church, and a theme park complete with hotels to boot and they're all gone.

  i joined this group in february, however had been surfing the various websites that expose the witnesses' lies since being disfellowshipped last august.

  the support from those sites and this board have been invaluable.

  today, i no longer have the fear of having left the organization.

  can anyone answer a serious question?

  since jws set so much store by bible study etc., i was wondering how they explain away john chapter 3. specifically where jesus tells nicodemus you have to be born again by the spirit of god in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.

  while i'm here i would also like to know about eph 2:5,6. it seems to me they work like trojans in order to attain a place in paradise- but this verse clearly states we are saved by god's grace and not our works.

  Yep.
  The works validate that the faith is real, no works-no faith.

  However, works do not necessarily mean that one has faith.
  It doesn't necessarily follow that works mean faith - only that works validate faith. It is faith that saves us, the works are the sign of the faith.

  I agree non,
  I much prefer my spirit totally detached to the unjust and hypocritical - who are concerned with themselves for themselves, and those whose justice is coerced to look good in front of the current mob. Lies, lack of honour and all the rest of it.

  In simpler terms, I'm unable to accept JWism as being ok. To my mind they contain the worst that the world has yet to offer - enslaving fellow humans through their own fears brought on by the mistrust of their own soul, reflected in the utter ignorance of the nature of God and goodness.

  I always used to notice how when they came to the door, the first thing that would come out of their mouths was the "talk about the world" - not the earth, not spirituality - the state of the WORLD.

  jws believe that god permits evil to answer the "age-old challenge from satan the devil," that man can't rule himself without god, correct?

  I'm going to bed in a minute so I don't have time to answer, but here's some clues - hope all the clueless dubs aren't reading - sometimes I prefer it tht way.

  - the plain they found
  - the making of bricks
  - tower to heaven (above any flood)
  - they had the same language (so do the dubs)
  - all the evil purpose that they devised would be rationalised

  a question for all to consider is: if pakistan and india go nuclear, as seems to becoming more likely by the day, how long will civilization be able to stay intact without completely unraveling, and during that interval will ridiculers be able to maintain the delusion that nothing out of the ordinary is happening in the world?

  Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?

  i was talking to my dad last night and i told him that there is no "organization" that jehovah uses directly.

  he quoted this scripture and said "well then who is this talking about" i read the scripture and i have to say i am a bit puzzled.

  if it doesn't say what the jw's say (not that i'm saying they are it) then what does this scripture refer to?
