God is editor of the WT

as this quotation is often used to support the allegation that jws believe the wt is inspired of god i thought it would be of wider interest to provide the relevant court record for general consideration.. the court case itself was in 1940 and was olin moyle against fred franz and others and the wtbts.
just so that you know who is who, hayden covington was attorney for the defendants and walter bruchhausen was attorney for the plaintiff.

Am I mistaken, or is one of the JW mainstays the 'fact' that they are the true religion?
It's obvious that everyone who supports the doctrine of being the 'true' religion is claiming an authority on that basis, and they have clearly portrayed to others that they are God's 'particular people', and by going along with them you'll be in God's favour. If they're not inspired they should tell people at the door.
It seems they would rather lie against the spirit of the truth and use what deception is available by the words in this world. Even worldly people understand what the 'spirit of' something means, like the spirit of the law. Bullshit goes beyond sentence structures.

what is the scriptural evidence supporting that?.

If anyone is thinking of lawsuits, try the official site for some inspiration. They are quite cunning, but don't let it put you off, humans can outwit even a pack of wolves.
One thing that is readily noticed is how they refer to the organisation as 'they' instead of 'we'. It provides a way to both talk about other people in an endearing manner and at the same time share all responsibility with them, very clever - "who are they?" and "what do they believe?" - there's no 'we', so don't blame us.
See if you can find 'we' on that website.
Anyway, here's a classic I just read in one paragraph
- "In each congregation, there are elders, ..They take the lead in teaching in the congregation. They are not given special titles."Like 'elder', or teacher?

It seems as though the Witnesses pick and choose what passages in the Bible to take literally and what to take figuratively.
Hey, they don't even deny it. This is from their website, seconds ago, from 'beliefs'.
. They rely on both of these, the Greek and the Hebrew Scriptures, and take them literally except where the expressions or settings obviously indicate that they are figurative or symbolic.
So when they aren't applying spiritual teachings to the flesh, they're coming up with other strange ideas. In the mean time though, they'll rigidly subject your bodies to the teachings meant for the spirit, and then add some new ones as well, and unless a crowd exposes their shamefulness, they won't stop or change.So in years to come they'll eventually look so foolish about creation that they'll say they have 'new light' (even though it's someone else's old discovery). And there'll be a time delay while they form a pack - no plain apology for harm done and they'll infer that "we're not really responsible, you've been mistaken as well".
Even the language used is continually changing to enhance deception. Not response-able? I don't think so, not only 'able to respond', but prompted by a moral duty as well.
The statement from their own website is clear. Until it is proven in this world that being hard and imparting guilt on a matter is both incorrect and immoral, they'll simply carry on in the same manner. It's the result of being more concerned about their own asses than yours - and that's the spirit driving the WT org.

How comforting, yes, how inspiring it is to know that God really does care and that soon he will put an end to all wickedness and suffering! How thrilling it is to realize that the fulfillment of those glorious prophecies is but a short time off!
Like fresh horseshit isn't it, if you know what I mean, but JW bible study may not explain things like that, so I'll interpret that tongue (edify for you).
The horse is a symbol of pride - and we shouldn't eat (become like) the horse, it's not good (clean) for us. Although it has four legs and chews the cud (though quicker than some - and we know how rash JW scripture understanding is), it does not divide the hoof (can't really go into the hoof now). But the dung produced by this proud animal makes for useful preaching, promoting growth (but best broken down). In a fresh state it provides remarkable growth to the plant that grows in the dark.It's absolutely marvelous how God speaks to us through nature, isn't it, who needs a bible?

If God is love, He loves more than me, He is kinder than me, He cares more than me, He is more merciful than me, He is more trustworthy than me - so I believe in Him, and not me, and certainly not a favour trader.Men have told you that you're not good enough - well then rejoice, it's you that God seeks. Leave them and don't look back. You weren't meant to earn your way to heaven, or else He didn't need to come. In pride they won't reveal that to you, because they think they are 'good enough', and then you wouldn't need them and their 'expertise'. The unbending rules they provide burden the soul. If you have read the bible you'll know that Jesus saves His absolute worst criticisms for this kind of control.
And if that doesn't work they'll be the terrible mother, seeking your favour, enticing you not to rock the boat, "after all we've done for you", mezmerising like a Medusa, so you'll stay and become 'petrified'. Be the hero of your Adventure and cut them off at the head - find God in the poor who you know He's always with - "The poor are always with us" - they're blessed, broken and handed out for your sake. And tell your son that God is Love - it's not a trade.

Creation of the Earth...

in my church (the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, nickname mormons), we believe that the creation was done by jehova (aka the pre-jesus christ).
we do not believe in the docrtine of trinity as most other religions do, namely that god the father, jesus christ and the holy ghost are 1 person, with just three different roles.

Singular use doesn't necessarily imply one person, only one God.

Practice of JW concerning Facial Hair
by Reborn2002 inim relatively new to the board, but i wanted other people's opinions.. growing up in "the organization" i pretty much blindly adhered to all instruction as a teenager.. as i got a little older, as most here im sure, i began to see how some practices were imposed on the flock without any biblical backing.. one that bugged the living hell out of me was the restriction of being allowed to grow facial hair.. i was literally removed from carrying the mics and reading at bookstudy because my sideburns were too long and i wanted to grow a goatee, hence i often showed up with stubble.
i was taken to the back room and told i was being "too worldly.
" when i questioned the elders why it was unallowed by the society and that i wanted scriptural evidence and backing for their imposed regulations, i was scoffed at and told i should do as i am told.. i told them where they could stick their "priviledges" .

Scriptures are good for teaching and instruction. I already assumed that the WT teaching would be sick, and sure enough it is.
You could read the story and learn - if you love a son more than others, then the others might tend to be a bit short on love - so it's probably a very good idea not to be doing that.
And the WT lesson is - if you don't like some people as much as others, even in your own family (who you know you have a special response-ability to care for), don't worry about it, go with your fleshy desires. All you have to do is make Jacob to be God, and then you can do anything that he ever did - you will be a truly holy asshole (things will flow from you).
Don't blame the bible, it's just a story.
