Can any Witness possibly anwser this question?

hello all... i came across this line of questioning many months on the inet so i decided that i would submit just this once to peer pressure and make a usefull contribution to the board.. here is the question... is jesus just "a god?".

many of the regular inet surfers would have come across this line of questioning before so if you have you could just sit back and relax and read the replys.. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>.

Peter knew that Jesus was the Christ, the son of the living God (the Son and heir of God), and rightly called Him Lord, but it wasn't revealed to him by 'flesh & blood' - it was put to his heart.

You can't expect JWs to simply think Jesus is God. It doesn't fit with the rest of the doctrines, and I don't think it can really. All the other stuff has to change too, like earning salvation or truly trusting the Lord, not to 'keep His word', but trust as the truest type of friend. Maybe some can't get that with all that gestapo antideemin activity going on - I dunno.

JWs see God as an 'other', and this is also evident in marriage, where God blesses from an 'other' position. But christian marriage is of three, includes God, as it was in the beginning where the Lord was in the garden too, so let no one rend asunder that which God has joined, with Himself.

The mystery of the Trinity is pretty 'out there' for people waiting for things like world war three with a visually mighty deity turning up, but they shouldn't be changing the Bible, regardless. We don't get it so we'll change it isn't it for me.

the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that if the watchtower falls short to a significant degree then it cannot be jehovahs organization.

thats why apostates are hopeful that if enough fault can be found with the organization and brought to the attention of the faithful, then they too will accept the conclusion that jehovahs witnesses are not who we say we are.

unquestionably, many have been stumbled over a multitude of stumbling blocks.

I'll show you a problem, in fact, it's a problem for most JWs. In my experience it's one of those places in the Bible where they can't get it, don't like what it actually says, are likely to alter it (interpret they say), and are likely to dislike that you even pointed it out. Try this one for a discussion point.

Jonah 3:9-10

RSV "Who knows, God may yet repent.......God repented of the evil which he had said he would do.."

KJV "Who can tell if God will turn and repent.......and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do..."

YLT "Who knoweth? He doth turn back, and God hath repented......and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them..."

DARBY "Who knoweth but that God will turn and repent....and God repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them...."

NOW suggest, maybe God will repent of the evil that you say He is going to do to us.

How is that God can repent? I won't go into that now, and with JWs I don't believe it to be appropriate initial discussion material. No false prophecying going on there Youknow, it was for real at the time.

What about the stumbling blocks?

Yep, that's what I'd like to know.
The JW religion has got a lot of mileage out of the no education trip - they're easily confused by basic language.

People stumble on things they don't see. The 'apostates' are holding up signs, saying 'look down - watch out for that stuff in front of you'.
And yes, the JWs are holding up signs too - but covering up the other stuff - the stuff that people don't see straightaway and stumble over. Kick your toe bad enough and you'll never forget where you did it. Stumbling people is part of their doctrine. Sometimes people call it lying.

what does grace mean to JHW?

i would like to know what the grace of god mean to jhw, and why they try to work for something that is a gift and is free from god?.

maybe some one can help with this information.

But,

Searching away they've really missed the whole trip. Why haven't fundamentalists got the fundamentals? It's not really a good name for them I think.

Grace is what we show them when we don't immediately rip them a new asshole.

Comf, your still analysing like JWs. Grace isn't just undeserved kindness, it includes notions like free gift and charm and beauty - no guilts, probations etc.

Effortless beauty and charm in the Way love proceeds.
We all see things we consider to be graceful - so it is with God.

And faith without works is an identifiable thing about the faith. Living faith has works which we can see, an obvious sign.

all supposedly "led by the spirit" as spiritual "sons" of god.

(romans 8:14).

what would you say if a close friend was to come to you and say: "i've secretly been studying with jehovah's witnesses and i plan to join their organization.

i know how you feel about the witnesses, but i truly feel that they are god's chosen organization.

i don't really want to hear anything negative about the society, but out of respect for our friendship, i'll let you briefly mention one reason why i shouldn't.

I've been studying for about a year now...

i know that by nature (or nurture!

) i have an addictive personality so i have tried to be real careful that i'm doing the right thing by getting involved with them.

If you're researching into what sort of bible experts they are - try this one on for starters - and You Know, as you've no problem handling anthing thrown at you, bat away.

What does this mean ?

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

Are the heavens the space and the stars etc?
Or, are the heavens those mentioned in "caught up to the third heaven".
Or, are they rooms of the Father's house, or something else that I haven't mentioned.
And, what does the "In the beginning" mean anyway ?
Is it 'at the start',
Or is it within Christ (Alpha & Omega).

Surely the JWs have 'laid out' an explain of the first sentence.
I'd like to hear it.

That could be a healthy questioning - only a sentence, hardly a 'mentally diseased' obsessive disorder.
