  !st Century door-door question

  anybody know about hospitality customs in jesus day?.

  if the custom was to invite everyone who called inside your home for milk and cookies, and if it was rude to refuse this hospitality - the door-door ministry must have been sooo sloooow.. whatdja fink?.

  Got to love the way FDS translates the singular Greek
  word of Houses (your Houses) as house-to house at Acts
  20:20. Its capitalized to show that it was their own Houses
  and actually more likely a "meeting" house. hehe

  They seem to forget earlier in Acts when Paul admonishes
  them NOT to go "house to house" there the Greek shows the
  word twice with the word "to" inbetween and therefore
  translated as house to house. Why the inconsistency?

  This can readily be seen in their own Kingdom Interlinear
  and more clearily in the Emphatic Diaglott (1865) of which they
  own the plates and copyright since 1902. In the ED Acts 20:20
  is translated as simply "Houses". They have twice reprinted the
  ED and highly praise the quality of its scholarship, just decided
  to ignore a rather simple and direct translation without foot-
  notes to explain this mystery.

  Both KIT and ED are still available at the local book counter,
  just don't tell anyone you are actually studing them if you
  don't want their suspicions raised. hehe

  How abount inviting them in then spend "waste"
  as much of their time as possible. Take a trip
  to the potty, make tea, offer cookies, ask lots
  of questions. Sure they are taking your time
  but at least they then end up only making one
  or two calls. According to the new understanding
  and bible calculations 45 minutes equal 1 hour.

  I usually keep my watch at least 5 minutes fast. hehehe

  Therefore rarely spend anywhere close to an hour and
  my group seems quite happy with my "maturity" and
  observation of "Timing" hehe

  Good point about the d2d "urban legend". Also see
  Acts 20 where the original Greek says "your Houses".
  House is capitalized because he was telling them what
  he had done, NOT what they should do. He taught
  publicly, as the WT used to do by speaker car, public
  forums and even, gasp, that evil radio thing. He taught
  them in their snyagogs and in their Houses (big meeting
  houses) NOT door to door. The Judge must have seen
  the success of the Fuller Brush Co. hahahahahahaha

  The WT's own Emphatic Diaglott translates as "Houses".
  However the Kindom Interlinear borrows from, oh my god,
  no it cant be true, no i don't believe it, that dastardly,
  depiscable, evil King James version "houses". Then thru
  neu lite "understands" it to really mean door to door.

  Thanks for the insightful list. Boyoboy do I
  have a lot to work on. Esp the part about
  getting one's feelings hurt. I can see how
  this is probably related to several of the
  other "to work on" items but would appreciate
  any expansion of this one particular failing.
