I happened to meet a young 'sister' from my old congregation today whilst out shopping.I think she is about eighteen now.
We exchanged pleasantries and I asked her how everyone was. This was a general fish for info on anyone or anything I suppose. Her response really saddened me.
She told me that all in her immediate family were fine. She now works part-time as she is auxilliary pioneering as "it keeps her going".This is something that "brings her great joy"
As we conversed, I noticed her attire. A young pretty girl dressed in full ministry garb including matching scarf and gloves, sensible black outdoor coat which somehow betrayed her youth.
I could also sense her unease and the way she strictly kept her responses somehow directly pertaining to her ministry or special joy that was hers alone.
I noticed something also about myself and recalled something that I read recently written by kenpodragon to do with a conversation he had or could not have with his mother.
There were so many things that perhaps I would have liked to say to her, yet I was unable to. And just as much as she skirted around issues and answered me perfectly.......so did I also.
I came away feeling sad. Sad for her, sad that the conversation seemed pointless, sad that I felt unable to convey anything of real meaning to her and sad to see her, in her youth, so trapped inside something that she does not understand.
I also got the feeling that she probably felt quite different. As we parted company, I suspect that she felt quite superior in her wt security and probably thanked jehovah that she was not like me.

Just when you think your mind is fixed
by kenpodragon inthe other day i was doing some shopping at the local mall with my wife, and she wanted me to go next door to this book store and pick up this book for her.
i went in and picked up the book, and went to the counter to pay for it.
the man looked at the book and it was a title that was not exactly something most men buy.

I got that horrible sort-of-rising-from-within-feeling last week when I took my daughter to her new nursery.
I was asked to sign a consent form in order to allow her to be walked a short distance to the local church for their preparations for a carol service.
I could feel this indignation-sort-of-self-righteous feeling that was saying I AM BETTER THAN YOU AND I HAVE A SUPERIOR RELIGION AND WE WILL NOT BE TAKING PART....etc...etc...etc...
But I overcame it and I felt it was somewhat of a major victory for myself.
I do have apprehensions about attending the thing myself...but I bloody well will go, even if it's just to prove to myself that I can!

A sister told me that her aunty (a wordly person) had knitted her mother a tea cosy and it was demonised. Every time the poured the tea out of it they had their hands burned! ! ! !

Brymichmom, I had similar advice and when I had just about enough and I told them I was leaving him, I was asked to consider how the congregation would feel!
Each time he abused me or my children I was to try harder at putting on the new personality.
Don't involve the police or you'll bring reproach on jehovahs name.
All this persecution will make you and your children stronger?

Kingdom halls without holy spirit
by jurs inhave any of you guys ever notived how many jw's complain about "other" halls not having jehovah's holy spirit?
when i was a jw i moved a bit and was in several different halls.
i heard of a number of halls not having jehovah's holy spirit and that in time jehovah would clear things up.

I heard a story about a Kingdom Hall right next door to a Pentecostal Church. Apparently, the Pastor from the church had requested that the Jehovahs Witnesses change their meeting times as when they met at the same time, the Pastor said that they could not get Holy Spirit!

There are two points to remember
by ballistic in.
there are two points to remember when making a good post:.
one: always leave your audience wanting more..

Thats a load of bollocks from the ministry school book crap. I don't adhere to that shit any more. I'd rather hear something truly from the heart no matter how carefully, gramatically or otherwise stated!

Musings on Children, Ex-JW Wars, & Truth
by Perry inmusings on children, ex-jw wars, & truth seeking
i think that children represent a real and credible threat to the wt.
children by nature are inquisitive and require explanations, which requires two way communication.

laughed till I cried.......
by Shakita infound this in the paper this morning and i laughed till i cried.... my cousin, dr. michael watson of bamberg, s.c., recently retired from 48 years of practice at the age of 76. i hope that this does mean he has resolved to abstain from sending me such e-mails as this:.
a man comes into the er and yells "my wife's going to have her baby in the cab!
" i grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress, and began to take off her panties.
