(New Testament | Luke 23:43)
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
..and before anyone rearranges that floating comma!!
(New Testament | 2 Corinthians 12:3 - 4)
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
However - I have to be on the JW side here I to believe in a paradise on earth:
(New Testament | Revelation 21:1 - 4)
1 AND I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 77:1)

What does it MEAN, to be Baptised....
by LittleToe ina few years ago, while i was still a jw, i started a topic on baptism:.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/14060/1.ashx.
i wasn't aware of the in's-and-out's of the subject, just that i felt that my own baptism as a jw was somehow invalid, and wanted to do it properly.

To be fully immersed in the water, by someone with authority, has the following significance to me:
1/ Water represents the washing away of sins.
2/ Baptism is in similitude of the death of Christ - we are buried under the water and die as to our old life , we are then born again (from the water similar to birth from water) to a new covenant and a new way of living with a new name taken upon us.
Baptism does not join you to the church - it is an ordinance that washes away former sins and is the physical part to the covenant made with Jesus.
The baptismal covenant is renewed each week while taking the sacrament (again in remeberance of the Christ.) -

My wife used to child mind Tony Blairs kids - once there was an outing which cost something and Tony , recognising some poorer parents went and secretly paid for it... ow OK seems a genuine nice bloke but!
1/Seems on a power trip (seems to like his own myth - there's a problem let me drop everything dash over there and super Tony will save the day.)
2/Is lacking the integrity to step down after taking Britain to war against a sovereign power that was not threatening us.
3/Surrounds himself with advisors who are not represenattive of the country (50% are gay!)then unsurprisingly enancts anti family policies (no smacking, removed marriad persons tax allowance, is forcing more and more couples to both work just to live and afford housing, all but legalised cannabis, is pushing through super casinos, working on gay marriages)
4/Has the backbone of rice pudding - Thatcher would have murdered the EU whereas now we hand over money like its candy and then bend over and take it up the petit filous.
5/Tony has allowed the country's financial system to be destroyed - UK looking good on the world stage don't believe it - all paid for by theft and teflon shoulders (in the midst of the pension crisis they stole money from the pension funds and then removed beneficial tax breaks so that pensions cannot now meet their forecasts, they have allowed house prices to rocket so that many young people have to stay at home voila the parents who paid for their homes now have to keep paying for their adult children - in the meantime we are all now up to our eyes in debt at unimaginable levels - so future spending will of course be lower for years to come as we pay it off - coupled with low inflation that'll just about be forever)
6/ Tax levels are edging closer and closer to 50% to fund an ever increasing govt. money is being thrown at govt ventures all aimed at creating a socialist super gov..Tony's baby -

LDS believe that just before the end 144000 will be sent out in a final preaching mission. Other than the Jews we are the only church I know of that believes we are literally gathering the tribes of Israel. I'm of the tribe of Ephraim (Joseph) and it may well be possible to send 12000 from each tribe(except Dan) but that would probably need to be by adoption (since we 'know' that the actual 10 tribes are being prepared by the apostle John for their return at the end.)
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 77:9 - 11)
9 Q. What are we to understand by the angel ascending from the east, Revelation 7th chapter and 2nd verse?
A. We are to understand that the angel ascending from the east is he to whom is given the seal of the living God over the twelve tribes of Israel; wherefore, he crieth unto the four angels having the everlasting gospel, saying: Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And, if you will receive it, this is Elias which was to come to gather together the tribes of Israel and restore all things.
10 Q. What time are the things spoken of in this chapter to be accomplished?
A. They are to be accomplished in the sixth thousand years, or the opening of the sixth seal.
11 Q. What are we to understand by sealing the one hundred and forty-four thousand, out of all the tribes of Israel?twelve thousand out of every tribe?
A. We are to understand that those who are sealed are high priests, ordained unto the holy order of God, to administer the everlasting gospel; for they are they who are ordained out of every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, by the angels to whom is given power over the nations of the earth, to bring as many as will come to the church of the Firstborn. -

Paradox of the defeated evil
by greendawn inbefore jesus ascended to heavens he said that he had acquired all power on earth and in heaven having wrestled successfully with, and overwhelmed satan and his angels.
however the church he established had/has to make an attrocious war against that same soundly defeated enemy.
the question is if jesus defeated them once and for all why are his followers fighting a war against them all over again?

My simple answer:
We need satan to tempt us to choose good or evil.
Until the resurrection and atonement satan had technically won (no actual repentance possible so all cut off from God forever - no unclean thing can enter into the presence of God).
After the resurrection satan could no longer win as all people now can choose to return to God but also quite literally satan also ceased his outright free hand on the earth - never again could he take the mortal Jesus up a high mountain and offer Him the world.
Satan however, is allowed to remain until the millenium and then will be bound until right at the end so we can experience choices in a tough environment - otherwise the knowledge won by Adam and Eve was not as beneficial as I think it was. -

Do you store food..?
by Qcmbr ini was sitting at work the other day contemplating nonwork stuff.
i happen to work 8 floors up and i get a great view of the road and all the cars rushing around and it got me thinking about how from a distance people all look the same and things start to look a little ridiculous...anyhow.
then that got me thinking about how easy it would be for it all to fall apart (not like an end of the world scenario - but just a society thing.

..funnyish story.
I find it hard to sleep when its light so I got hold of one of those masks they give you on the aeroplane. I put that in my bedside drawer alongside my night time willy wear. Well my straight laced Grandma comes over to stay and we vacate our bedroom and well you can guess the rest... I gave up trying to explain my sleep issue and just crawled into a hole to die of embarrasment.
Come to think of it what was she doing in my drawer!!!? -

Sure - not trying to jog unpleasant memories - just suggesting that there isn't really anything specific said so for me I watch movies like Day after Tomorrow (which I looove) and then start looking for winter gear.
