To continue Netty's idea--you can use old newspapers to clean windows. I am sure that WT's and Awake! mags and those little tracts would work even better....maybe I should save the ones my mum keeps sending to me.

i was spring cleaning the other day and realized i had stacks and stacks of old watchtowers and awakes and books.
in chat we were discussing how jw's place mags in public bathrooms, and for what reason?
to read or to wipe?

are you: a minority group called "jew" a majority group called "greek" a minority group called "christian"
to believe in christ, the jews asked for a powerful sign, before they would believe.. to believe in christ, the greeks appealed to logic and wisdom, before they would believe.. to believe in christ, the christians simply believed, and treated it as a personal calling.. which category do you believe you fall into 1, 2 or 3?.
.. 1cor.1:22-25 - the message.
Greek...
But here are my tartan colors. These are supposedly the "oldest" ones

Shred and use as "grass" in easter baskets or as confetti
my friend was summoned to a jc.
she did not go and pretty much told the elders to kiss her ass.
she wants to attend the announcement which is tonight.
Unbeliever,
Hey! How did my Mom get your e-mail address?
Seriously, that excerpt made me want to squirm. I call my mom the Guilt Trip Queen, but your mum could give mine a run for her money.
I think what you did was brave. It gave your friend closure and I've rethought my earlier response---I would never have attended my DF'ing announcement, but, if I knew then, what I know now, I probably would have attended my DA'ing announcement---the DA'ing was my CHOICE, and proved that I had one. That they couldn't take everything away from me........
Good job

.
i'd vote for revelation since every nutcase who ever came down the pike has tackled it verse for verse and applied it to the time in which he was living.
ever notice that?
no matter what decade or century, people reading the bible always think that it applies to their time.
My vote is for Revelations---all those beasties and John's electric Kool-aid acid proclamations.
Farkel----roflmao!!!!!
to randall watters, simon, and fellow jwd posters:.
i just wanted to say thanks for being here (and in randy's case, there at http://www.freeminds.org).. before discovering this site, i had been out of the jw org.
for nearly 20 years.
What a positive, touching post. Thanks, True North, to you, for making me smile today.

....my whacked out jw hardliner mom just informed me this morning that she and my entire jw family will be coming to my wedding on oct. 1st.
this has come totally out of the blue as previous to today she did not give any indication of caring one way or the other whether i got married or not, and had said to me a couple of times "oh, i'll just stay and watch over the food.
i think my more liberal jw sister has managed to talk some sense into her at last.
Au,
Happy to hear that your mom is willing to come to your wedding. My JW parents came to mine--my mom even made my wedding dress. We kept the ceremony pretty non-religious. We had an ex-Coast Gaurd captain marry us. Out of respect for my parents, there were not even any passages used from the bible, although now that I write that, I am not sure they appreciated the compliment. We used an Apache (?) wedding prayer. :)
We had a really simple wedding too---we just wanted everyone to have FUN.
Congrats again. I hope everything goes as well as you want it to.

my parents were both very strict, and i wasn't allowed any toys at the hall.
my rations included a copy of my book of bible stories, and a pen and note pad.
my parents were strict to the point of not allowing me to draw pictures, i had to "take notes".
Remembered something else---when I went to meetings with my grandmother, she would notice the instant I started to get bored and she would let me play with all the cool stuff in her handbag (cool stuff to a 6 year old!)
just a new face in the crowd.
my uncle encouraged me to join as he has been a member for a couple of years.
i left fold after a year after reading an article in a local weekly magazine (it was actually front page story).
Welcome!!!
I have personally found that this a great place for support (lots of cyber hugs when you need them), information, a few healthy tears and a really good laugh now and again. Come by as often as you can.
(If you haven't done so already, I would recommend reading through some of the "Best of" lists--very good stuff)

My brother and I used to see who could make my mom crack up during meetings first. Also, I would read down the columns of the Watchtower pages to see if I could find any hiddens messages. At conventions, I would write stories about the people around me to make it look like I was takings notes. I took only enough actual notes so that when my Dad asked me what I "got out of " the parts, I could answer him and not get into trouble.
Oh yeah, I would also count the holes in the acoustic tiles.
