Grocery Strike

i am not sure if the grocery strike is just here in so cal, statewide or nationwide, but it has widened now because the teamsters union has decided to honor the strikers.

they will no longer deliver groceries to the big 3 chain stores.

independant drivers now are being used.

My Mom is on strike and I have not crossed the line, yet. Nor, will I. Stater Bros and Food for Less have separate contracts and are not on strike. So, I shop there. However, their medical benefits will run out the end of december. It's been horrible for everyone. However, Safeway (Vons), the ASSHOLES (with Ralph's and Albertsons dutifully towing the line) in this whole mess are determined to deeply slash medical and retirement benefits. I hope not one damn thing gets delivered to those markets. And, my spouse is also a truck driver.

My family has been out so long. JWs are not allowed to strike? I know of one newly baptised JW that walked the line (They get half their regular pay for 40 hours) and was reported by a Assistant Manager (not union) ASSHOLE elder-type JW(not sure if he is) to this guy's elders. This guy helps support his family with the money, while ASSHOLE elder-type is still working making his regular pay. So, we have been spreading the word to everyone about JW Nazi behavior. Interestingly, my cousin, Mrs. Elderette's husband is also on strike and she has never earned a penny in her life. So, no money is coming in for them. Too bad. Maybe the congo has started a collection.

I hope it's over soon too.

I hated this song at 13 and I still think it's one of the silliest songs ever written. Captain and Tennille had a hit with it.

It's amazing to think that people actually paid money for this record.

Politics is taking over again

i think it's getting a bit much.. please remember that while we dont mind some discussion of current affairs, we are not intending to be a political discussion forum.. i'm getting especially tired seeing some people making insulting and dismissive remarks and just posting dogma and propaganda.

worse still, it seems some people are *only* interested in posting on political threads and nothing else.

let me make it clear - that is not why we're here and if that is the only reason that you are here you will find the number of posts you have will be limited.. this of course goes for both sides.

This board used to have waaay more political threads in the "old days".

My Daughter Is Going Through A Rough Time.

my daughter, the mother of emily, is having a rough time right now.

she just had a hysterectomy and has been staying here for the last three weeks so we can help with the kids while she heals.

now there are more problems, her husband is kicking out her two oldest kids, a boy 21 and a daughter 18. neither one is working .

Cingular Morons

this weekend i upgraded my phone and signed a new contract... but lucky me did it on a weekend when some freak'in moron decided to shut down telephone customer support, their support web site, and their wap internet access... all at the same time... all weekend long.

right now i'm seriously pissed off with a simi-functional phone.

anyone else have a company screw them over like this?

I could write a novel about all of my frustrations with SprintPCS. The first 15 days, I had my phone shut off over nine times. All due to them not signing me on the correct plan when I first started with them. Jeez, what a nightmare!

I've had Cingular too. I was mislead about their coverage and terrible reception. Dumped them.

I had AT&T for years. Really liked them, but they just don't offer the kind nationwide-no roaming that I need at a reasonable price.

my wife is a lovely lady, inside and out.

when she was young, she often was asked by "wordly" people if she was a model or would like to model.

being raised a jw, she knew it would not be considered appropriate.

Such a lovely lady!

She's funny too. I wish I could find the thread, but it was a looong time ago (back in 01, I think) when she posted about getting baptised and the brother who dunked her had such large man boobs that she nearly tucked a twenty in his pants to thank him for the show.

It still cracks me up when I think about that post. Definitely in my top ten all time funny.
