Hey Shunned! Welcome to the board!

last night my sister-in-law asked my kids why they haven't been attending meetings.
she cornered them individually.
she asked my son and he said no he has not been attending meetings and that he has been doing some research and that he didn't believe it was the truth.
I tell myself "Yes, they are brainwashed". Nonetheless, I am always shocked by how easily some JW's can cut off family. Chop! And be gone!
I'm sorry lv4fer, I hope your kids don't blame themselves in anyway.
The JW cult can be so heartlessly cruel. At least you are out.

i have smoked cigarettes since i was 12 years old, a pack a day for 16 years.
i have not had a cigarette since friday night and it is monday!
i am craving a smoke but i am not going to have one because i don"t smoke anymore!
Good for you, Lauren!
I've been smoke free for about 6 1/2 years. You will not regret quitting.

as most of you know, neil and i have been engaged for about two weeks now.
i was surprised and thrilled to hear him ask and am looking forward to spending my life with my best friend.
for those of you who don't know neil personally, he's really the best thing to ever happen to me!
You have a great attitude about the ceremony. Sorry your parents decided they can't be there.
I agree with you completely about not focusing too much on the day itself. Nearly everyone I know that has had a big expensive wedding is now divorced. Hubby and I got married in Vegas at Little Chapel of the West. We tried our best for it not to be "tacky" and had a lovely time with some close family (nonJW) and friends. 15 years later we are still happily married. It's not for everyone, but it worked for us.

here is a pic of my phoenix tattoo:.
(let me know if it doesn't work so i can move the image to another server).
"as every one knows, there are mistakes in the bible" - the watchtower, april 15, 1928, p. 126 .
I just don't get the tatoo thing. I have no desire to ever get one. Yet, I'm fascinated by people that are willing to be inked. My spouse has wanted to get one with my name on his arm for years. The man is actually wanting to have his self branded with my name. Go figure!

well, you all seem to have moms in the "truth"..... my mom isn't, never was and was unhappy i became one.
but then she came around to accept it and not have a bad view of jws.. now i am df'd and she was madder than a hornet.
even called one of the elders and gave him a piece of her mind.
How lovely for you to celebrate your daughter's birthday. I'm sure your Mom will be very pleased with the pics. Most Grandma's love that kinda stuff.
My Mom isn't a JW. She was raised in it, but always hated it. My parents divorced after many years of marriage and my Dad is currently an active JW.

in a post to imbue, i stated that julie and tina still had active accounts here.
i was mistaken - both women have had their accounts de-activated, whether by personal choice or simon's choice.
that's what that little line drawn through the poster's name means - "they are no longer with us.
Awwwwwww waiting, you're so cute!
After 50 kazillion posts and you didn't know what the little line "thingie" was.

Hi Andi,
As someone who has a very complicated, and mostly, acromonious relationship with my Father, I know that "small" things such as a civil conversation means alot. I hope that your parents are able to attend your wedding without you and Neil having to compromise too much the type of ceremony that the both of you want.
Hopefully, phone calls such as the one today, will continue.

"unconditional love is the most precious of all gifts".
"practice random acts of kindness & senseless beauty".
well, i really hate to do this, because i've found some nice people here.
Really serious about what, Doug? Becoming a JW? The last post I read of yours sounded like you were going to meetings. What's up with that? Having been coming to this site for a while, and knowing what you know about them, how could you seriously entertain the idea?
If this is what you are serious about, then, absolutely, you should stay. Because most of the members on this site are XJW's, who have many painful experiences due to the WTS, you are bound to be the target of some anger because of your activities. Still, that doesn't mean you should leave.
Do you still have hopes of trying to get Debbi "out"? Is this an attempt to win her?
Whether you should be here, or not, is merely another individuals opinion. Doesn't mean it's right, or wrong, for that matter. It's just their point of view. Simon is the person who has the keys to this place and he decides who stays, and who leaves. It does say "Everyone Welcome" at the top of the screen. So, just be sure that any decision you make, YOU own it.
Take care,
Andee
