I get the ones in Canada though - km-E 8/05 Vol. 48, No.8 ---- I don't expect there's a difference in this respect but who knows.
if so, i need the very first song number mentioned in it.
i think we all know why.

sometimes people do things too me that just rub me up the wrong way... and out comes evil miss peaches....!
i can't help it... this weird evil side of my personality displays itself.
for example if i'm in traffic and someone is tailgating me i deliberately slow down to a couple of kms per hour below the speed limit.
Some drivers are annoying, so I like having fun with tailgaters too. Besides easing off the pedal like you do, I'll also tap my brakes lightly to make it look like I'm braking, even though I'm not.
Another thing I do which really isn't nasty but is done out of spite. Here's the background: There's cafe just one house over and its always full with its patrons (from 7AM to well past midnight). They left a note twice on my car asking me not to park it on the road in front of where I live. They even posted a cardboard sign all along the block asking people if they could please leave the spots near the curb free Sure they're polite, but let me see -- I have to walk over a block between my car and where I live, just so that those guys going for a coffee don't have to walk very far? Yeah right. Besides it was because of them that my sib didn't see an oncoming car and she hit it really hard backing out of the driveway. It cost her nearly 3 grand. So I take that parking spot as often as I can.
i remember scanning real money and with photoshop pasting the picture of an elder on the bill over the face of the queen.
then i printed many bills.
it looked very real.
There was a disfellowshipped person who wanted to be reinstated and so regularly showed up at all the meetings. I was going to the bathroom and he was coming from it. He looked very down so I asked him if he was alright. He smiled, then glanced beyond me and said nothing. He was trying to minimize trouble for me cuz there was the PO and the Secretary right behind me! Not to mention a couple of elder's wives sitting on the benches in the coatroom who more than likely told a whole bunch of over people. (They were never sitting down during the meetings!). I was only reproved though because back then I wasn't baptized.
(the following article by nathaniel j merritt was originally published in 1996 in the now-defunct orthodox way magazine, a small theological journal which explored obscure or controversial issues in the eastern orthodox spiritual tradition.
should christians embrace the greek septuagint translation of the old testament or the hebrew text?
if we are jews, then by all means let us embrace the hebrew text.
I was going to take issue with stating that the Septuagint was a superior version, like that value judgement could be definitely made. I was even going to mention how a couple of early Church fathers objectively saw where the LXX could use correction. Oh hell, I'll do it anyway.
Like Jerome. When he was working on the Vulgate, he finally opted to make a direct translation from the Hebrew texts of his day, in contrast to the Old Latin Bible, whose OT was based on the Septuagint. Earlier still, Origen was aware of the many variances and errors of translation found in the Septuagint. So he set about comparing it the Hebrew text of his day as well as to several other greek translations, in his work the Hexapla.
But from you're latest post I now see where you're coming from, and can see we're both on the same page. Ciao.
no this is not meant to be another trinity thread.
rather another shamelessly speculative / philosophical one.
one good thing with the latter: they are usually much shorter.. so we often discuss how the logos was or wasn't "god/god/divine" etc.
We may be bringing forth a reality then, like a creator-god, of sorts. We?
Well if we're talking about the good bits of reality, I don't mind letting others take some of the credit. I sure don't want to take all the blame though, for the mucked up bits of reality.
Materially speaking, "thoughts" and "intentions" can, in a way, be seen as creative forces in us. They are apparently shaping and influencing one's brain (and so one's mind and "being") continually. There's alot of good evidence that shows how neural pathways can be changed and sculpted by our thoughts. Logos then, as reason, can enhance/elaborate thoughts and thereby impact the mind that is created and recreated. The kinds of "intentions" and "thoughts" of these people in turn shape and affect social and physical realities. I think thats a very old way of seeing how Logos created the world.
i know what i was taught from the witnesses in the book evolution or creation, but is this an accurate portrayal of what evolutionists believe?
is it really that black or white?
evolution, meaning that god didn't have a plan, things just happened, or creation, god created adam, the first man?
Kid-A - That was too funny! "Don't bother looking it up in the index, its on every page."

Speaking of "conscience", how exactly did evolution produce it?A suggestion I heard is that since the conscience moves a person to follow behaviours advantageous to a community, groups made up of individuals with those motives would fare much better. Whereas highly intelligent people without any conscience are extremely dangerous and destructive, and those lines would not flourish (thankfully).
a lot has happened to me since march.
i have learned so much.
i hesitated to put this out in jwd, but i now think that if it helps one person, it will have been worth it.
BTTT
Jez,
I think that it is possible to be wrapped up in emptiness. Its odd how the void ...engulfs...many jws. Constraining them and others like you, who interact with them. Its melancholy, knowing the truth about the WTS, seeing how it binds those you really care for, but an even sadder reality if we then allow it to control ourselves as well. That isn't you though.
I could relate with your desire to reconnect with others who've you've known for so long. And I was really moved by your wanting to foster a true deeper spirituality, instead of just settling for the thin veneer that fakes it. I admire your principled stance and your integrity to yourself. I wish I were more like you. Take care Jez.

Yep! My explanation of why this parasite causes so much human suffering would be that it wasn't intended to do so. All of our illnesses, crime, and so forth are the result of human "imperfection". Had there been no original sin all mankind today would be parasite free. Maybe the original sin altered the DNA? Simple explanation but just maybe it is true.
I appreciate your response. That scenario leaves me with other questions though. Just what beneficial functions would parasites carry out for other living things? And how could that moral choice of original sin, physically affect one's DNA? I can only see some physical actions bringing about any changes to the genetic information (like radiation exposure, mutagens, certain viruses, errors that can occur during DNA replication or during meiosis) Does that mean that God was the one then to somehow physically alter human's perfect DNA as a punishment?

Alright, I should have expected that quote from Jude with my last post. I was having fun near the end.
In earnestness: Did the creator god spoken of in Romans also create malaria? This parasite requires to be in humans for one part of its life cycle. Or what about another human parasite Entamoeba histolytica? It can sometimes burrow through the digestive tract, get into the bloodstream and travel to other organs where it can lead to death. Other parasites in nature have some rather morbid lifecycles. i.e. parasitic wasps. I really don't mind the latter at all. It helps keep down other bug populations. But why were the human parasites created? For the same practical function?

But if you personally believed that the crime was committed by demons, this would be a likely direction for your arguments to take. Question all the evidence, point out that it is not always collected cleanly, procedures weren't followed, the glove doesn't fit,... and so the most likely explanation is demons.
Yeah, true AA. I know you're just splainin' that's how they have to go about it.
Too bad they also can't furnish reasons persuasive enough to peg it on a demon, instead of oh say... the evil Greys...or poltergeists...or maybe a very highly skilled ninja/super-catburglar that can enter and leave without leaving any trace. I'm putting in my vote for that last possibility cuz its cooler and because I can't bring myself to accepting that demon babes would snub me when I offered them a good time. So demons (who are notoriously lustful) mustn't exist. Oh god, I think I'm beginning to think like them!
