i know an ms who was talking to a bro from bethel who said that there was big stuff coming and big changes.
My conspiracy theory on this (speaking of rumor mongering) is that they...somebody high up...is trying to leak some kind of info so as to trap whoever's leaking inside information. And it may be so obvious that those on the inside know that it's a setup and are biding their time or just plain not falling for it. Makes for a good Movie of the Week scenerio, anyway.
I wouldn't put it past them. They're such info control freaks.

i now have a new, crappy, perfect-bound softcover copy of the "2006 printing" of the revelation book--not "revision", not "revised edition", but "printing".
the gall of these arrogant sacks at bethel, i tell ya....my housemate and i spent about two hours going through the old and the new side-by-side and, thus far, have found several flubs that contradict the changes made in the new book whilst leaving others on the same topics undone elsewhere.
How odd. I was speaking with the literature servant of the congregation I'm assigned to just a week ago and he didn't mention anything about a new printing with all the changes. In fact he was talking about how he and the PO were going to insert the changes with different sized avery labels. I don't believe he'd have left me out of the loop, since it was in fact he and the very same PO who GAVE me a copy of the KN 37 early. I'll see what I can find out about this, but I think somebody may be pulling our leg.
If you can provide scans of this new version of the book with the new changes, I'll be very appreciative.

That website on panspermia is interesting. There's alot of hurdles to overcome for the abiotic generation of even the simplest bacterial cells. How both the genome and the molecular machinery to carry out the metabolic functions of life arose naturally is a head scratcher. In essence, the position of the author of that website and of other panspermia supporters is: "we don't see how new genes can have arisen from nothing, so they must have been/are being added to the biosphere". Well I think that given enough time science can find plausible ways in which life could have arisen abiotically.
Some interesting examples to consider against the basic argument of cosmic ancestry are the nylon degrading bacteria (and how their novel genes may have evolved) as well as the anti-freeze protein in fish. These are genes with wholly new functions. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the anti-freeze protein also originated from non-coding DNA.
while thinking about more bible related legends depicted in films, a rather obvious one came to mind...the ark of the covenant.

I doubt it ever really existed.
But now I'm curious about those ancient engravings you mentioned Arthur. What have they been dated to? Are we talking before the late sixth century? Or were they likely post exhile?

Since the article sinis posted mentioned Asherah having a bovine form but (unless I missed it) said nothing of Baal having one, I began to wonder if I was confusing one for the other. I knew of the inscription of Yahweh of Samaria and his Asherah but didn't realize that there was also associated images with bovine features. Makes sense that as consorts they'd both have bovine forms. Jayhawk, That article Narkissos posted mentioned how Baal had his sister and his mother (Asherah) as consorts. Ancient soap operas.

That was funny. I've never gotten one quite like that.
But one time this lady calls my folks home and asks for "________". Since that was my Dad's name I assumed she was asking for him. I told her he wasn't there but was out shopping. She asked who I was and when I told her, she screamed very angrily "His SON?!" and hung up. I wonder if she realized she dialed a wrong number before blowing up in that guy's face.

The golden calves ill spoken of in the OT were supposedly how some people were worshipping Yahweh. Am I mixing up memories or was Baal also idolized (at least in one form) as a calf?

I'm not anathema to any of the congregation elders. In fact as a former MS, they try to get me interested in serving again by throwing me some advance bones now and again. Like giving me a copy of Kingdom News 37 early, which I then made available here. The elders I know couldn't hold a secret for the life of them. So far nadda.
Then again, we do seem to get alot of letters relatively later here in Southern Ontario. If its something the flock wouldn't like but is supposedly for their own good, it likely isn't about donations, but another level of control. Hey maybe Google has developed a special version of their search engines for the WTS (ala China) and dubs are supposed to use that. The porn withdrawals alone could make alot of dubs mad.
i had recently read the book, "the da vinci code", and just saw the movie this weekend.
essentially, the plot revolves around a 2000 year old "cover-up", in which it is claimed that jesus was married to mary magdelene and had children.
this knowledge was suppressed by the early church, but kept alive by a secret society of which leonardo da vinci was a member.

Thanx for letting me know how the movie portrayed him! I'm glad he wasn't just a one-dimensional "cleaner". What I enjoyed about the book more than anything, wasn't so much the topic of the "coverup", but how different people, like Silas and Teabring, received it and acted upon it. Looking forward to having Silas give me the chills and making me feel pathos for him.

I loved watching reruns of a whole bunch of sci-fi/action shows: Buck Rogers, BattleStar Galactica, Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, the campy 60's Batman (I was crushing on Batgirl), and the original Star Trek.
Does anyone here remember watching a tv show (didn't last long at all) called "the Phoenix"? It was about an awakened ancient astronaut who sought out to find his missing partner (still wasn't awakened), and he had a medallion that conferred all sorts of neat powers to him.
