  Do believers and unbelievers benefit from each other?

  i was thinking of this today.

  we all live in religiously divided societies: in france unbelievers are probably the majority, in the us believers are.

  but the minority in both cases is still influential.

  Tactful skeptics can do a great service to believers. The questions and arguments they present to believers, can help believers to modify some of their beliefs, so that their paradigm is less discordant with reality. It hopefully can help eliminate alot of superstitions, and get the believers focussed on the few aspects of the religion that may actually benefit society. Rather than squabbling over unprovable details that only divides people.

  Personally, as an agnostic, seeing all the believers about me, has made me question what do they sense or perceive that I don't? I'm not so interested in the details because here's no way to disprove or prove them. But their living by a moral code, has encouraged me to be more introspective, to reflect on my actions and motives, and to... how can I put it?....find the better part of me. Still looking.

  i know this may sound strange but i would like some input on the following.

  i have a handful of friends (some in the org and some out) that are saying that "god" is talking to them.

  he is communicating directly or using an angel.

  In the early fifties, when the ufo flaps were making media headlines, there were the 'contactees". They claimed that ETs enlisted them as their envoys to humanity. The ETs were warning them about impending doom and to make changes to avert it. This was right smack in the escalating phase of the Cold War and everyone realized how dangerous the Nuclear Age could be for the planet. Many contactees portrayed the ETs as caring and wise, some even calling them the "Space Brothers". Not that much of a stretch to look at the situation today with the new terrorism, and expect a modern version of this phenomenon. With those people you know, the motifs and content are fed by the WT instead of pop culture.

  's this should be the headlines every week if it's the "truth".. i've heard stories of ex-j.w.

  's believing they would be struck by lightning if they went into a catholic church.

  Despite the standing, sitting, standing, kneeling, routine of the Catholic Mass, I enjoyed it more than a JW meeting. Even as a child, I could sit in there and feel soothed by the ambience, or enjoy the acoustics. I liked how we would offer those around us in the pews peace and shake each others hands.

  I remember when I first heard "Sunday Bloody Sunday", and wondered who's singing and what's that all about. I've been enjoying their mix of message and music every since. Still haven't gotten their new CD. I'll admit I've got a "baser", that also enjoys the relatively more hedonistic Def Leppard.

  What do Jesus? words at Matthew 12:43-45 mean??R. D., California.

  A man who has been possessed with a demon and gets rid of it has a vacuum left. This vacuum or emptiness left by the evacuation of the demon is to be filled with the Lord?s spirit, with a faith backed up by works in harmony with God?s Word. Then when the demon returns he would not find the person, likened unto the demon?s house, "unoccupied but swept clean and adorned." Instead, he would find the place he had vacated filled with a stronger spirit, Jehovah?s active force, and the demon spirit would not be able to reoccupy this person. Apparently in the case Jesus was discussing the person freed of a demon left the vacuum unfilled, not taking up Jehovah?s service and making room for Jehovah?s spirit in his life, but merely cleaning himself up and adorning himself in a visible show of piety. Such a person will not be able to prevent the return of the demon spirit, and in his relapse his plight worsens, more demon spirits than before occupying him.

  Could You Post Here Then Return To The KH?

  is it possible for someone to post reams of anti-jw stuff at this site, then repent for what they have done and go back to the kingdom hall to become fully-fledged witnesses once more?.

  a couple of posters that i have met personally and spent mutually enjoyable exchanges with, have actually disappeared off the face of the earth and covered their tracks behind them.

  i'm sure that in at least one instance, the guy has returned to the fold.. maybe it's me that they can't abide and it's nothing to do with jw's!!.

  If they meant all the stuff they posted on this board and read all the other posts with an open mind, then I can't see how they could go back in mind and heart. If they make a full about-face, then they've been letting their fears about uncertainty or an unhealthy need for approval get the best of them.

  Am I one to talk though? In my thirties but now and again, subjecting myself to the drivel at assemblies or the KH, just to lap up drips of approval from Daddy and Mommy?

  Knowing reality changes you though, and its obvious even to the dubs at the KH since now you are notably "spiritually weaker".

  Is Jesus Christ and Michael the ArchAngel one and the same person?

  i must admit that as a jw i never really swallowed this belief maybe because i was so young when i was really a staunch jw.

  i would have born-again christians tell me that it was impossible for jesus and michael to be the same person and that jw's invented this doctrine.

  fast forward to 2004 while i was reading a book on jesus i noticed that some of the early church fathers thought michael was jesus christ i almost fell out of my chair.

  The WatchTower's Moat of Blood

  i just received the free minds journal of nov.2004/jan2005.

  on the last page there is a discussion and quotes from the watchtower 6/15/04, re: blood transfusions.. " some would refuse anything derived from blood ( even fractions intendedto provide temporary passive immunity ).

  that is how they understand god's command to abstain from blood .

  You'd think that the leadership of the WTBS would take the opportunity in this article to sanction the use of fractions to save lives. The whole blood ban is easily sidestepped, and they can still cover their asses/assets.

  But in that same 6/15/04 WT on page 24, the last line of par. 16 reads:

  "Moreover, some products derived from one of the four primary components may be so similar to the function of the whole component and carry on such a life-sustaining role in the body that most Christians would find them objectionable."

  Its like their purposely targetting Hemopure or PolyHeme. Their that bent on martyrs?!!

  from all the oldest mss (including P66, P75 and the Vaticanus) --except the Alexandrinus. I only mentioned those witnesses which have the variant.
