  Copping Out?

  are we copping out if we blame the watchtower for almost everything that went wrong in our watchtower life?.

  most of us knew the rules.

  most of us had the opportunity to read and study their publications and the bible.

  Thanks so much for putting into words my very own thoughts regarding the WT. You summarised a lot of points that hit home for me. I too was raised in a divided household...and I grew up with a similar exposure to the 'truth' like you did...yet as an adult I still chose to embrace it as my chosen way of life. I walked into it head first...and yet I knew there were things that were not quite right ...but I did it all the same.

  I cannot blame the WT entirely for everything that has gone wrong in my life...I should rightly accept some responsibility for it too...I was not held at gun point to get baptised....it was my own choice as an adult...even if it was peer pressure that influenced my thinking. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have done things a whole different...wouldn't we all!!!

  Offer to Reconcile

  this will be my last new thread for a while.

  i am not leaving, but plan to confine my comments to the threads started by others.

  i will finish my jfr-trial series elsewhere, and maybe at some time in the future i will post the balance here.. a plan: over the weekend, i watched the threads bouncing up and down on the active screen, and saw some very good ideas.

  Amazing....your threads have always been interesting...never have I thought them to be 'dry'. I hope when the heat dies down, you will continue to start threads again...I really enjoy your contribution and ideas...I've even printed out some of your threads and have taken them home to read and share with my partner.

  as some of you know i've been feeling like crap lately.. i've taken some days off and stopped watching the news.

  it's crazy to say but i get so depressed everytime i see and hear something about the war.

  i don't know maybe i am going nuts.. well i flew to la over the weekend and hung out with a friend from the chp....even suggested i should apply with them and move out there..who knows..just might do that..a change would be refreshingly nice.

  Do men and women leave the Borg for Diff...Reasons

  i was wondering about he differences between men and women.

  could it be that women leave for different reasons than men?

  do men tend to leave because of evidence and logic?

  I think you could be right...there could be a relationship as to why Females vrs Males leave the borg. Our needs are different to a degree...and it depends on which need we felt was being deprived while we were in the borg. It all depends on the statistics I suppose...but for men perhaps it was physical...for women it could have been emotional. For me I felt that I was emotionally deprived...and I know another ex JW female left for the same reason. I never really thought about it before until now. Good thread.

  since you probably planned ahead of time not to return to the first thread i started, i am reprinting here for your convenience :.

  why do you jw's consistently only answer some questions (answers i might add that severely sidestep the issues, or bring something totally irrelevant into the picture), though not others?

  do you really think we will just forget about the ones that you conveniently choose not to answer, hoping that we will not notice because of all your rhetoric and jibberish that you include in your answers to other questions?

  You are right...there are rehearsed answers from borg members...and then the practice of sidestepping when they are questions that they are not ordinarily asked..kinda like your questions. If the question isn't in the Reasoning Book it takes a thoroughly researched individual to be able to come back with a fair and reasonable response...not everyone can be bothered. Sometimes it is worthwhile putting in the effort to answer someone if you think there is a chance that they might be 'won over'...so I don't think Terafera is right...I don't think you will get the answers you seek.

  Ex JW Support Group - any suggestions?

  i just thought i'd put this to the multitude and invite your suggestions or some feedback, as i am thinking about forming a support group for ex jw people in my area.

  my motive is based on my own experience when exiting the borg...and how isolated and lonely i felt when i left.

  i was lucky enough to have one family member who had left the borg a few years before me.

  Thank you all for your suggestions. Ozzie..Prisca....thanks especially....and please keep an eye out for my email...I have lots of questions...and yes...I know JanG...she emails me often....and I have already been put in touch with a couple of Melbourne people thru her. I will email her with an update of my plan/idea and invite some feed back from her. As far as I am aware...there is no group formed here in Melbourne...it would be good to help out where I can and if I can.

  I agree with anewperson's suggestion...I will definitely take that on board. I don't have an interest in recruiting...or even the suggestion that I want to start up something of my own...that's not what I'm trying to do. I only want to be a person who someone can ring up and say 'hey I've just been disfellowshipped and I need someone to talk to'. I will keep you informed as things progress if you're interested. Thanks again.
