Yes, i know the old testament made up of the law(torah) and the prophets were written and handed down through time and kept by the Jews,as can be seen to this day. But how was the new testament put together?
who put it together?
After all , wasn,t it the Catholic church that kept the writings in the Latin untill the time of the reformation, whereby it was only then translated into other languages?
Were there any other writings and if so why are they not in todays bible?
How do we know if there are any more writings if the only writings of the new testament were kept by the Catholic church?
How can we be sure that the letters written by the early christians were only the ones that suited the beliefs of the Catholic church?
Did they use or change any of the writings to distance themselves from Judaism ( eg using the Greek/Latin version of the messiahs name "iesous" instead of his original Hebrew name "yeshua" "yahshua" or "yahushua"?.
I very much believe that the writings are inspired of God, but i have often wondered about some of these questions. Perhaps some of you can shed some light on this topic.

Hi in between ,wecome to the forum by the way. yes i did feel that in the 2nd of the star wars trilogy. I related to what anachin was going through. How he wanted to do right but questioned what he was taught.
I too agree with you on all your points paticularly with the "conditional love" that exists within most of the Kingdom Halls.
I am in a kind of similiar situation to your self and find that i feel 2 inches tall everytime i walk through the door. I hate the cliques that exist at our hall and the fact that the supposed to be more spiritual ones of all, cant even take up 5 mins of their precious time to get to even know me.
Even my wife can see the hypocrisy of it all and to be quite frank it totally sickens me. Its almost as if you have to be in their club to get to know them (conditional).
They are just so unaproachable it is unbelievable. Not one elder ever came round to see me in the few years i had been away to encourage me in some way. Although for some daft reason i have began attending occasionally again, i get butterflies just before i walk into the hall and have to take a deep breath because i feel so arkward knowing that i will be going through the whole thing again!!!! -

Shocking Announcement: Society feels Armaggedon coming this year?
by truthseeker ina rumor alert indeed, but it could be related to the distribution of kingdom news no.37, "false religions end is near.".
the following is posted from e-watchman's forum.. make of it what you will, but in light of all the rhetoric about "deliverance at hand" and "independent thinking", nothing would surprise me anymore.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1502&st=0 we posted about an announcement it was only local to our cong.
however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

KERO KERO- Even if for some unusual reason R Franz was twisting the idea about bribes in Mexico. How can you explain away the fact that for years and years the witnesses in Mexico never used to pray or sing kingdom Melodies at the kingdom Halls ( from what i remember in C.O.C , they said they told the Mexican authorities that they were some cultural organisation or thereabouts). The GB didnt want them to be recognised as a religion. WHY? Because the Mexican regime in power at the time confiscated all religious buildings, although still allowing them to worship there. How do you explain that.
No, this wasnt about life or death, this wasnt about adhering to bible principles, this wasnt about being faithful to God. This was about money , plain and simple. The guys at the top (Brooklynne Heights) wanted to hold on to their property come what may.
Maybe you should do a bit of research into this to see if this was the case. I'm sure there are plenty of Mexican witnesses out there can tell you about the times they "werent allowed to pray and sing at their meetings". BUT BY WHOME???? -

Studying the 'deep' books - it might be the final straw.
by jambon1 ini can remember studying the isaiah books 1 & 2 back-to-back.
during this time i simply never wanted to go to the book study.
it was all so repetative and boring.

Its funny when you think back. I was so excited about studying the Rev book and took it all in the first time as i was only a spring chicken int the org at the time. But the second time they went through it about 96/97 am i correct. I was taking the study quite a lot and therfor had to make sure and prepare well.
The one thing that struck me most (and this is about 5 years before when i was a fairly strong JW) were the dates. Some of it was just plain farcical and i actually felt guilty for feeling like that at the time. -

Jesus: the mediator of the anointed (only)?
by evergreen indid anyone realise that this was the case when they became a witness or just realise through time that this is the societies teaching on it?
.
each year i get annoyed at the memorial when the speaker giving the talk always refers to this point and then says how the other sheep (the great crowd) "can benefit from this arrangement".

Thanks jwfacts. You have oviously done some extensive research on this doctrine. I will certainly check out your link on this subject.
To be honest, it wasnt untill i read c.o.c that i realised that this was the societies teaching on this. I pointed it out to my wife and told her that Jesus Christ is not he mediator. She said of course he is. I told her again he isnt and then showed her an article pointing this out. Of course she simply fobbed it of saying that the teaching on it must be right, the society know what they are teaching etc. But i will never forget the look on her face when i pointed this out to her.
I personally think they deliberately tone this teaching down. I mean they dont exactly broadcast it in their usual dogmatic way and so many people seem to be unaware of this wt teaching. -

Good point Daniel p. It has always been human nature to satisfy their curiosity to see what all the fuss is about. This has happened in the film and music industry, whenever they try to ban a certain film or song. It usually makes it even more popular than ever. People want to know, they have to know, they have to see........

Go on have a blast. The JW discussion forum is on the same web page (google among others) as the societies official site.
I once remember an elder telling me about some ex witness who wrote some bad stuff on the internet. That was about 4 years ago. I thought at the time , "why was he reading apostate stuff on the internet, when we were not supposed to read anything remotely apostate". mmmm
I reckon curiosity gets the better of at least 10 per cent. -

CAT or DOG - Why?
by hamsterbait ini am amazed at the almost complete polarization between cat and dog lovers.. .
i know few who love both.. .
cat lovers argue that cats are more intelligent than dogs.
