Change of Heart
by evergreen ini am writing in to say that i have come to a decision to return to the meetings at my local kingdom hall.
after much soul searching and careful thought, i feel happy with my decision.. i have decided to submit this on the jwdf to prove to god that i am genuine in my sincerity towards him and to show repentance for the things i have said in the past.
the reasons as to why i have decided to return are as follows;.

Has anyone read 'age of reason' by Thomas Paine?
by evergreen inhi i am sure this topic has been covered before, but perhaps more people have read the book since and can share some further views.
my aunt sent me the book 'age of reason' by thomas paine about 4 years ago and i only read parts of it as i was not really interested at the time: as i still had the belief that the bible was gods word.
i decided to read it proper, as everytime i tried to get back into reading the bible, i was finding that some of the old testament stories were over the top or too fantastic to believe, that such events happened.

Pharaohs heart? - NWT or NKJV
by evergreen inin exodus 4 vs 21 according to the nkjv god told moses that "i will harden pharaohs heart, so that he will not let the people go".. also exodus 7:3 "and i will harden pharaohs heart, and multiply my signs and wonders in the land of egypt".. these scriptures seem to suggest in nkjv that god purposely hardened pharaohs heart, which would in turn allow him to bring about the plagues in egypt so that the world would know that he was the true god of the earth.. yet, reading the nwt the same scriptures read - ex 4:21 "as for me, i shall let his heart become obstinate;.
ex 7:3 "as for me, i shall let his heart become obstinate, and i shall certainly multiply my signs and my miricles in the land of eygpt".
thus giving the impression that, that god would simply allow pharaoh to stubbornly refuse the israelites to leave eygpt.

Abrahams wife Sarah was actually his half sister
by evergreen inreading through genesis has been an eyeopener for me.
i was surprised to read in chapter 20 that sarah was in fact abrahams half sister.
in verse 12 of this chapter, it mentions how abraham and sarah both had the same father, but different mothers.

some questions on the book of genesis
by evergreen indecided to read the bible from start to finish as i have never done so properly.. some questions that i have and that some of you might be able to help me with are.
1/ in genesis 1 it says god created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th.
in fact in vs 31 of chapter 1- with refernece to the 6th day the bible writer even refers to the evening and the morning of that paticular day.

Why is religion such a mass of confusion?
by evergreen inas a person who has not attended meetings for some time now, and having stood back and looked at the thousands of different faith groups, organisations, churches etc i often think how on earth are we to know what direction to go.
if a person looks deeply into their own faith questioning how, what and why... the deeper the hole gets as to errors.
from my own experience having firstly been a catholic then a jw, all i see are manmade rituals and rules mingled in with biblical principles and commandments.
