New England Apostafest

last year on memorial day a group of about 14 east coast ex-jw's met together in providence ri.

i had the pleasure of being able to have most of them back to our apartment for dessert, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting local people with a similar background.

i was able to meet zev, somebody, red horse woman, scumrat, sister act, doc bob & his wife, as well as others whom i can't remember their online names.. this year, i would like to get another group together on memorial day again, and hopefully we'll get even more of a response this year.

Hiya Gwen!!!

I'm already so excited! Time goes by so fast--it's already been a year! I really miss you guys, and can only guess that you've been as busy as we have. And of course you aren't new faces, but that means you're that much more special to us because we know what you're like in person!!!

Thanks for the offer of help--I may very well take you up on that at some point. I'm still not sure where we'll be getting together yet, but I'll decide as soon as we get a better idea of who's coming. Thanks for letting me know right away that you're coming--I've already got my list started so I can keep people posted.

I'd love to get together before the big day, so let me know if that would be possible. I'd love to show you our new place! Hope to hear from you and see you soon,

Hello, I am Vivamus' Mum and new to the board

i am vivamus' mum, and i have heard so much about you, that i'd like to meet you all myself.

i joined the witnesses in 1998, but i have always doubted the organization, but not the faith.

i am still jehovah's witness, but i am sure that the elders will kick me out as soon as possible, should they know what my real thoughts about the organization are.

It is so great to see you both on here--and I'm sure Viv is thrilled! I hope you enjoy what you find here, because you are free to read and do whatever you want. Although I have never met Vivamus yet, I have always enjoyed her posts and the joy she brings to the boards. I hope to meet you all someday soon when we come to Amsterdam.

Thanks for all your responses! So far I've had about 15-20 people saying they would like to come to the apostafest, and there's a few more that came last year that I have yet to hear from. I'm sorry I haven't posted lately, but I was out of town.

Detective, Of course you are welcome whether or not you've been a jw. There are many people out there who've been affected by the crap, so please come! And seriously, if your friend wouldn't feel comfortable coming to the party, email me and we can meet up at a different time. Hopefully he'll feel comfortable doing that, and maybe it will help him.

Detective, if you come, we promise not to make you wear a bag on your head! But we will make you wear a big letter A....just kidding! Seriously, we'd love to have you and your friend, but if you feel the other person wouldn't be up to anything that big email me and maybe we could get together at a different time. My boyfriend has not ever been a jw, so it wouldn't be as overwhelming maybe. My email is [email protected].

Neyank, Neon Madman, and Slippy, I hope you can come! Last year we had a couple drive down on their bikes from Maine, and had a nice drive. We are only a few hours away from a lot of places in New England, so hopefully we'll have a diverse group covering a lot of territory. As I get an idea of how many might come, we'll figure out the best place to meet up.

Bittersweet, please don't let being shy stop you--it is amazing to meet others who've been through very similar situations. Hopefully Sister Act can help you here--she's a great person!

Saying Goodbye and The Celestine Prophecy

nope, not to to the board but to stuff i've needed to let go!

anyone who has dealt with depression and the internal effects of sustained negative emotions will understand this, i think.

its been a rough year, for many reasons, and i apologize to those whom ive not had the energy and emotional wherewithal to support.

I have to admit, it took me a looooong time to finally open and read that book! I think a part of me knew it would have some kind of profound effect on me, and so I guess I was a little afraid of it. But oh how relieved I felt after it--knowing it's fiction, but very real in other ways.

What else do you like to read? Is there anything else that has affected you like The Celestine Prophecy? I am an avid reader, (which I'm sure drives my boyfriend crazy at times) and have finally drifted from a pretty solo "fiction" diet. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
