in my post below, i related how i talked with the national defense information system, dept.
of the army regarding the hacker who attacked my pc 12 times in two hours.
well, it turned out the routing went through the ndif ... and after speaking with an army officer in washington, dc, they requested all information be immediately sent to them.. i got a call back, and evidently it was a little more serious and of interest to the authorities ... so, the matter has been referred by them to the department of defense (dod) ... i was contacted today and told that they will be back with me shortly, and to expect to provide additional information.. utterly fascinating.

i got drafted to take out the field service group this weekend, as we were on our way out to the territory yesterday morning sonmeone brought up the chicago suntimes article on jws.
almost immediately everyone in the group had negative comments about bill or the newspaper.
whats interesting also is that whenever there is a person who speaks against the wts their is always an assumption that the person is disfellowshipped and is angry because of it.
Why didn't Nixon destroy the tapes?
From my experience a long time ago, while in training at Bethel, I was told that files were kept on individuals, and as part of my training I was shown my personal file. I was surprised to find a copy of a letter that I had sent the society when I first entered into that organization.
Now, if Society tries to hide or destroy computer files, where does evidence exist that they kept files. Every Elder Body in the world has evidence and copies of letters from the Society that show that they keep files. So how can they now hide it. If they say publicly that no files exist, someone, somewhere, with some sense of honesty is going to say, "Hey wait a minute, you are lying", and that person's conscience will influence him or her to blow the whistle, and bang on pots and pans. The small town papers, where the events are taking place with the four persons in the disfellowshipping mayhem are printing stories on their front pages. Those pages and links are being posted here on this forum and reach world wide distribution. The major news papers and news agencies are picking up on it and sending out news stories around the world.
So lets keep stoking the fires, every bit helps to keep the flames going. Even though most of the stories are similar in content, it doesn't matter. Each reporter I find, gives it another slant and uses his own style of writing. The small town reporters are pleased when their stories are picked by major news organizations, it enhances their reputations and brings attention to their home towns.

hmmmm...it's almost uncanny how both the bill bowen article and this appeared on the same day.. the big joke is how everyone talks about how ever so happy everyone is.
I am remembering from decades ago, but I think from comments here that their policy has not changed.
From experience I have learned, that if a congregation wanted to build a hall, and had already owned a building lot, and they wanted to borrow from the Society, they were asked to go to the bank for financing first. Then the bank would do an appraisal and study the viability of the loan and then if the loan was a good business investment for them they would approve the application. If the bank approved the loan, then the Society would approve the loan also, because, I assumed, the Society relied on all the leg work that the bank had done. If the bank did not approve, neither did the Society.
I was in Quebec province. Many of the halls were built in the poorer areas of town. One hall I know got in trouble with payments to the Society. The Society sent an appraiser, as they made moves to repossess the hall and sell it. Naturally, the hall, built in a poor area of town and in a residential area, the hall was basically worthless.
