Sister n law wacko. PLEASE! Need advice!

my husband and i have not been to meetings for several years now.

we have finally had our first child after 13 years of marriage.

he is now 5 months old.

in her early thirties still lives at home ,never dated, been married ,and has no real social group of friends except her parents. The three of them go on trips , go out together, and that is her world. She has never been to happy that her two older brother went off and got married had kids and got lives of their own. She also refused to come to my baby shower and to see us in the hospital. When they all see the baby is when we go down to their house they never come here even though we are only 30 min away and they have an open invitation to visit us whenever they want

Wow, that sounds just like my family. Woudn't come to my wedding, have only visited us twice in the last 6 years (mom and sister). My brothers have never visited us.

Yet somehow they are always asking when we are coming to visit and if I'm going to start coming back to the meetings (HELL NO !!!!!!!).

It's just funny how they think they are always right and we are destine to die.

Where were you when the realization hit, that the WTS was not in the truth?

i was listening to a testimonial by valerie acuff and she said that she was sitting in an assembly, looking around at the crowd and thinking to herself, "this is your family, these are your people.".

she said at that moment she heard a voice inside say, "these are not your people, this is not your family, get up and leave now, and don't ever go back.

" so she took her two children at that very moment and left, and she never went back.

Curcuit Assembly in 1996. I was sitting there listening to the speaker drone on and on while looking around at everyone. I suddenly started feeling very uncomfortable. Like I didn't belong there. I kept thinking "there has got to be more to life than this". So I got up and walked out never to step foot into a KH again. I still remember the feeling of walking out of the assemlby, down the steps and out to my car. I was a beuatiful sunny day and I felt so free and happy as I drove away. It was like that bubble I was in exploded and I could see everything around me clearer now.

I love being out. I tell anyone that ask me about the JW's to get away as fast as they can. That they are a mind controlling cult that rips apart families.

I'm married now and have a wonderful life. Great job, great extended family, and great friends that are always there for me.

I've been doing allot of research on the history of religion and it can be very confusing. So many things have been changed and covered up down through the centuries that it's hard to tell who's right and who's wrong. I'm beginning to believe that there is no right or wrong way to worship God. As long as you do your best without hurting other's then God will be happy.

the 2nd study article, "let your hands be strong", is very pointed to say the least.

it seems that many dubs are finding personal fulfillment outside the kingdom hall, and this is clearly a sin leading to spiritual death.. i leave blondie to do the full review, just some interesting comments... .

IS THERE A SAFE/EFFECTIVE WAY?

now that i'm single again i face the same problem that many baby boomers face: how in the world do you meet somebody??.

i don't go to bars.. i don't like smokers.. i am not nutty enough to be attracted to young and dumb.. crazy music isn't my cup o' tea.. i like conversation with at least some minimal content.. online dating service seem outrageously weird to me.. what's a poor lad to do?.

any reccomendations?

I met my wife a our local fitness center. We both love exercising and hit it off pretty quick.

You could also visit and maybe join some local clubs. If your into the outdoors join a hiking/biking club or if your into books join a bookclub.

Don't underestimate the on-line dating scene. Just think, your soulmate could be just across town and you may never meet unless you do the on-line dating scene.

The JW's are a non-issue....

think about it.... if it wasn't for the fact that most of us are/were dubs...we wouldn't even notice their existence.. i used to say that when i was a dub (to the scorn of all)...when they would talk about the wt & aw being the most widely "read" (they took liberty with the word "distributed") mags on earth bullsh*t!.

except for my visiting jwd... there is almost no evidence of the existence of the dubs in my life...they are a non-issue!.

they are a lot of drama bout nuthin...really...if you'll step back and notice.... agree or disagree?.

I agree, I've lived at my current address for 6 years and they've only stopped by twice. Once we weren't home (they left a track) and the second time they caught my wife when she was on her way out the door. She was not very happy about that.

I never see any of the JW's around.

Did you feel uncomfortable going into churches when you were a JW?...

i remember going into churches when i was a jw for wedding or funeral and feeling a sense of dread.

i thought the demons were going to come out of the walls at me.

and of course i had the self-rightous attitude that the church would be destroyed soon in armegeddon.. recently i've been helping teach a karate class at a local baptist church.

I remember going into churches when I was a JW for wedding or funeral and feeling a sense of dread. I thought the demons were going to come out of the walls at me. And of course I had the self-rightous attitude that the church would be destroyed soon in armegeddon.

Recently I've been helping teach a karate class at a local Baptist church. The one thing I noticed is how warm and friendly the church is. I'm not talking about the people, but the church itself. Lots of saying up about Jesus and how to be a good person. The entire place seems very inviting. Unlike a kingdom hall that is very cold and uninviting. They seem more like a library than a place of worship. I don't go to this church, just helping my sensei with teaching a new class. Who know though, maybe one day my wife and I will start attending.

Man I just thought of something, I'm going to get a double whammy if the local witnesses find out about this. I'm practicing karate in a Baptist church. Two definete no-no's. I could really care less thought.

Do You Ever Have Dreams About Being A JW?

i had one disconcerting dream last night.

i was in a very large assembly hall and explosions started occuring and rather than wanting to leave everyone stayed and chatted like whatever was happening out there was not going to affect them inside.

they were all very smug.

I had a dream recently that I was sitting in the kingdom hall with my mother and sister. All my old friends were there and I was very confused. Then I started to realize that the past 10 years of my life was a dream and I was still a witness and it was 1996. I felt very sad that I was still a witness. I wondered about my wife and extented family that I love dearly and got even more upset. I still remembered all the stuff I've learned about the society and how wrong they are. Then everyone in the dream was trying to get me to go out in service. I started freaking out and wanted to get out of the hall as fast a possilbe.

Then I suddenly woke up in my bed next to my wife. It took me a second to realize it was just dream. I smiled and curled up next to my wife happy with the life I now have.

What Things Did You Think Were "Demonized"?

everything, when i was growing up was connected to "demonism".

handwriting analysis was borderline.

wind chimes would bring the demons right to your porch!

I was made to burn a Duran Duran tape because it had the word demon in one of the songs.

Actually any music my mom didn't like suddenly became demonized.

I do remember being scared to death of demons. I would pray every night not to see one. Man what a messed up kid I was.

Christians - Do you believe the flood occurred?

when i was a bible believer, i accepted the flood.

the frozen mammoths and seashells on mountaintops were "evidence", but the only needed proof was simply that the bible said so.

as a christian, do you believe the flood story?.

I don't believe the flood happened as written in the bible. I think it's more of a moral story to show how listening to God can save you life and the life of your family.

I believe the story came from older versions of the same story from different cultures. The story of Gilgamesh for example is almost identical to the flood story and was told hundreds of years earlier.

I'm thinking it was more of a local flood that devastated everything in sight. Essintially destroying their "world".

I also have a great article on some great reasoning as to why the flood never happened. If anyones interested.
