awhiile back i posted telling you about my grandson whos mother hit him for not saying grace before a meal ( he is 15yrs old ) he has been hit on many occasions,he hates being a witness and is forced to go to the hall by his mother.
my grandson phoned us on the day his mother had hit him,he was sobbing down the phone to us and said he wanted to come and stay with us, i said yes and that i would fetch him, anyway his mum and dad have had nothing to do with me since despite me writing to them expressing how much i love my grandchildren and that i wish to see them,i have had no reply.. the other day my grandson phoned and said to my younger son that he is leaving home when he is 16 and can he come and stay with us,of course i said yes.
what i need to know is will he be disfellowshipped for living with his grandma ( i am not a jw ) of course i know what this will mean for him,his brothers and parents will shun him.. as for me what else can i do to see my grandchildren.
He'll be shunned,treated like he has the plague no matter what decision he makes that does not include repenting and returning to the meetings.
Just understand,HE JUST WANTS TO BE NORMAL,and he's being condemned for it.I have a nephew who is living a similar situation.It's sad to see some of these kids fed all this bethel crap for years then when they turn 18,they're basically on their own,with barely any help to get started in life.

I especially liked the quote about the 10 hours in the 61wt.Whenever I bring up this 10 hour thing it's always denied...well we'll see now....
a couple of days ago i ran into a jw at my job at walmart.
she is a single lady around 50 years old and she looked terrible.
i asked how she was,(she always talks to me) and she related how she had lost her job and had to work two low paying jobs.
This is a common thing among jw's.Their love is "conditional",therefore they always have an excuse,like"well maybe if so-and-so went out in service more jehovah would bless her".

i remember, many years ago possibly at an assembly, hearing the story about a baptism (may have been a family being baptised).
upon being baptised, all members of the family cried both tears of joy (for the newly baptised's being anointed by god's spirit at that moment) and of sorrow (as they would never have everlasting life together in an earthly paradise).. is it urban legend?
did anyone else hear this?
Never heard that one.Most likely a j/w urban legend though.
i just finished a visit with two elders.
i had actually contacted the head quarters and wanted to see how fast i can get a response from them.
i was impressed, from the time of my request to them in my house... two weeks.

You've most likely planted some good seeds in these elders.
I always liked this "wait on jehovah"attitude.If that was the case then I could've stayed in the catholic church and just said "I'll wait on God to take care of it".Sometimes people who know of a wrong speak up,maybe God is directing them to take care of it?Look at king David's example,jehovah didn't come down from heaven,he sent a humble man to expose the sin.

And Lev.5:1 says if we know of a wrongdoing but don't report it to the proper authorities,we are just as guilty as the one(s) committing the offence.Must be a lot of guilty people in the WTS,
this happened fairly recently.
my book study overseer who never calls if i am absent at the meeting, will call me with clockwork regularity at the beginning of the month and ask for my field service report.
has this ever happened to you?
Yup,last he called I said I had no time to report,he never called again....smart man,he must know I've never been out since.

Great story Barb! As I sat here reading it I thought how just 10 years ago,without the internet,this story would never have gotten the exposure it is getting now.I am also among those who believe that these jw pedophiles should be prosecuted and no longer protected so as to not "bring shame upon jehovah's name".
its my experience after actually being an elder for a number of years that there are in fact...two types of elder.. type 1....genuine, actually cares about the people in the congregation and wasn't actually bothered too much if he became an elder or not.. type 2....very legalistic, cares more about organizational laws rather than people and lacks compassion and empathy.
this type is more of a spiritual policeman.
he wanted desperately to be an elder and now that he is, he loves the sense of power and prestige.. this has been my experience and if there are more type 2 elders on a body, the results can be disastrous.. what has been your experience???
In our congregation,we had more type 1's,but we had one type 2 who made it to PO and that was it,he ruled the show his way,a complete power-hungry freak who ran the hall like a corporation and had every other elder in fear of him.
Then one day he decide he's gonna write every male(baptized and unbaptized) in the hall a letter,how they were doing spiritually,their monthly service average and basically that your privileges were revoked immediately if you were'nt averaging 10 hours.It caused quite a stir,a lot of stumbling,the only elder who stood up for us was quickly removed and none of the others did anything.I still that infamous letter,which I hope to post on the internet eventually.
Anyways,most of these type 2 elders fit the profile of sociopaths.They seek prestige in the congregation because they are generally shallow individuals with low self-esteem.They've reached their pinnacle of power at home,can't reach it at work so they strive for it in the christian community where there is generally less resistance.
i never did become a jw but i did associate with them for a few years by attending meetings, going house to house, and all that fun stuff.
anyway, i have so much in my mind that i cannot possibly say in one post.
basically i saw/heard many things during my association with jw that i just didn't agree with or just made me wonder if they were truly teaching the "truth", which i have recently come to the conclusion that there is no truth.
