this is my first post and here's my story.. my father became a witness long ago and my mom remained a lutheran.
our attendance was sporadic due to mom's opposition.
they knew our mom was lutheran and that she kept us from attending many meetings.

Anyways,get the books Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom,both written by Raymond Franz.Read them and you'll feel good about your decision to walk away from this whacked-out man-made religion.

we've had several very interesting threads going on about how those of us who are still on the inside can work to open the eyes of the witnesses at the district conventions this summer.
since people have been making scattered suggestions on scattered threads, i thought we should start a consolidated thread here that lays all the options out on the table for those that want to be a part of it.
here are the ideas that have stood out in my mind so far (please add any that i have missed): .
I'll be going this coming week-end.I've thought about leaving notes and the post-it notes sounds good.I was thinking of writing www.freeminds.org or www.jehovahs-witness.com on them,I'm sure that somebody somewhere will be tempted enough to look it up.
during our district assembly which will be held at a coliseum, we were told not to go outside during the intermission, and not eat in restaurants near by.
we were told to bring our own food and eat inside the coliseum.
usually, the coliseum offers hot dogs and hamburgers and drinks, but the brothers refused this service.. .
Yeah,same baloney at our conventions.Then the restaurant next door is packed,the Subway at the end of the street can't keep up at lunchtime and many cars leave the parking lot at lunchtime.
I'll be there this year and the only enjoyment I'll get is observing as an outsider how people react to the instructions from the platform(LOL).I feel many jw's are just fed of being treated like little children and then the WTS wants all the credit.
Let's not forget,if the JW's are the religion who fought the hardest for freedom of conscience,they are now the religion who does the most to suppress it and start right within their own ranks.
this is the first time i feel comfortable posting something.
i've been a lurker for over a year and i must say there are a lot of courageous people here who left the watchtower.
thank god for the internet and sites like this.

well i had written up 30 or so questions for the elders.
i made it very easy.
ther were mostly simple questions with yes or no answers.
I find this very intersting since I have recently also written a list of 30 questions that my wife asked for.She said she would get me the answers;that was about 6 weeks ago and still not one answer.When she did call an elder,about 400 miles away(guess she doesn't trust the locals) he couldn't give her any answers and then told if I didn't have the "truth" in my heart it didn't matter what they gave for an answer.I thought what a crock,what a way to just sidestep the real truth,it's easier to just chop the guy down than to answer the questions!
Anyways I'm not expecting too much.
i got to thinking about this, and how many are here without telling anyone.. my active wife does not know i post here.
also, i have met some wonderful local people who are here, and you know who you are.. those who i met, i regard as friends, and very supportive.
given our backgrounds we understand each other.. is this a double life?
My wife doesn't know I post here but she check the history once and seen that I had been here.When she asked about it I said it was a jw discussion forum,that her step-mother told us about it a few years ago.Whewhhhhhh!She left it at that.
I haven't been visiting or posting as often since.

Hope you enjoy some of the posts here.I read your biography and you sound like you had a typical jw upbringing.Keep smiling and seeking for christian freedom,it's definitely not in the watchtower organization.

i can't thank ray franz enough for what he wrote and how he has affected people for the better.
while reading his books and seeing threads about him i have always wondered how his wife reacted when he started telling her about his doubts and trouble with the society.
how did she react when she had to leave bethel with him?
My feelings are the same as vitty's.
I've noticed also that Ray doesn't mention his wife much in his books but she was there at bethel when these things happened and she must love her husband more than she did the organization.I can't convince my wife that there is something wrong with the WTS,even the UN thing doesn't bother her!

I thought the bible said something about Paul being a tent-maker and earning money to support himself.Bet they don't quote that scripture when they ask for the "donation".And the loyal jw's just sit there and swallow it.What a scam!!!!
