i live in a sports city where hockey is the national sport.
being an oil town, we've experienced the flush of success and the misery of defeat.
we haven't seen the stanley cup since our heyday in 1990. we're so game-crazy, the city's motto is, "city of champions.".

now that i'm done with school for the summer i've got some spare time to read as much as i like.
heaven!
i just finished "sylvanus now" by donna morrisey.
I'm presently re-reading Wolves among Sheep by James Kostelniuk. Before that I read a true-crime book by Kieran Crowley.
I'm also reading the book of Acts.
My work schedule got changed so my reading has been hampered quite a bit.

hey everyone!
yesterday, may 15, 2006, gyldendal publishing company in copenhagen, denmark, published an expose' about the religion of jehovah's witnesses.
the name of the new book is, "dommedag ma vente," or, in english, "judgment day must wait," written by poul bregninge of denmark.
As I read your story,it struck me just how many lives have been affected in a positive way by all the work you've done.Whether it is a child saved from sexual abuse or someone who wakes up to the hypocrisy of the WT and helps prevent further abuse.
I admire your courage Barbara, you are an example for all of us who have been wronged by the WT.Thank you.

i began studying with the witnesses in 02 and was baptized in 04 but within months of baptism i stopped attending meetings.
my marriage was rocky at best before i studied (husband abusive) but after it just continued to get worse.
i had a baby daughter when i started and had my son while going to meetings and out in service as unbaptized publisher.
Welcome to the board.
This board has been very helpful to me over the last couple of years. There are so many amazing and intelligent people here it's amazing we were actually jw's at one time.

i was on the phone speaking with verne thoren, presiding overseer of the willow springs, nc congregation of jehovah's witnesses.
he tells me he knows of my possesssion of the flock book.
he knows of my involvement on this site.
I haven't been coming too much recently but this morning when I did I fell on this story.
Way to go Richie!!!!!!!!!
I'm very proud of you for standing tall.I think I once described you here as a little brother.I still feel the same.

i tried logging on here last night after i got home, but i kept getting a message saying that there was an error and i couldn't get on.
anyhoo, i walked in the hall last night with my parents, who also roped my inactive brother into going.
lol!
I stayed home and watched the hockey game.I went the last 11 years so I know exacly the routine, not bible-based if you asked me.

.
when you were in the borg how many scriptures did you know off by heart and could remember chapter and verse.. id say i could remember about 20, and they were the ones we would constantly use !
sad really after 20 years.
At one time,I counted over 300.It was the only spiritual gift I had (1cor 7:7b). I used to sit with my wife during talks and tell her the next scripture just by the way the talk was going. One time I was doing so good, she asked me how I was doing it.I just said I wrote the talk. She almost believed me,we had a good laugh.Even now she'll ask me for a scripture when she needs it.Other family members do too even though I'm the only one who doesn't attend meetings anymore.
