i like that statement "new light".up here they've been using the term "refinements" a lot lately along the same line as that new light crap.so all the changes in the organization book are actually just refinements, not new light.

My Wife Caught Me
by FairMind inyep, i was at this website last night composing a reply to add to the comments on a question posed by a poster.
my wife tiptoed into the room and before i could hide what i was doing saw that i was on this website.
initially she lectured me on the danger of associating with apostates.

Intersting story,I don't know if my wife would react the same;she'd probably want me to go talk to the elders.
Anyways, looks like you might be making some headway with your wife, good for you.
As for me my wife called me at work last night, said she was feeling kinda sad and went on to explain that over the last few years all her jw friends have slowly disappeared for different reasons and that her best friend now is a worldly person who's so much like her they get along great.I told they get along so good because they don't talk about sad, depressing bs that goes on in the congregation, that it's a better friendship.I'm slowly working at her like that.

The Tobacco Bombshell
by Dogpatch inthe tobacco bombshell
early in the decade of the 70?s, all jw?s were notified (in the tobacco-growing district) of a special meeting at the kingdom hall.
three representatives from wts, a district overseer and two circuit overseers delivered a symposium that brought an abrupt end for all jw?s working in the tobacco industry (whether selling cigarettes, manufacture, tobacco machinery, etc.

Randy,
Really enjoyed that story,i could almost feel the stress some of these people went through at that time.I hope someday to be able to give you my story, along with a letter from the local body of elders that reeks of hypocrisy.Anyways keep up your good work,I am among those you have helped.Thank you.

Argument from an elder on why to not leave the JWs...
by undercover ini got an interesting reply from an elder friend when i admitted that i had issues with the wts.
i had listed the failed predictions, the changing doctrines and the mistakes made by the wts.. he came back with the examples of the israelites in the wilderness and under the various kings.
the nation of israel was still god's people despite their hardheadedness and sins.

"wait on jehovah" is just another of their slogans.
We had a lot of BS going on here a few years ago and a sister finally said to me;"just wait on Jehovah "
my response was:"well,if that's the case then I could have just stayed in the catholic church and said of all the BS there,I'll just wait on God to take care of it".Her jaw dropped, she knew I was right and that the jw's were no better than any other religion if they couldn't take care of their problems and always had to resort to samw old slogan.

dicovering this forum...
by Blue_Shadow ini dont know how i came across this forum but when i came to it i was so shocked of all the things being mentioned about the org.
i became doubtful of the recent decision i had made ( the big dip, which i kinda felt pressure to do but that's another story) also hearing about how jw are a cult really opened my interest.
so now that im openly informed ,im out in search of the truth behind the truth.

Welcome!
Hope you enjoy this site and the others that will open your eyes about the "truth".
Now's the time to walk away before you get baptized and they decide they can control you and DF you when you start asking questions.

The Bible Encourages Drinking/Getting Smashed out of your mind
by proplog2 inproverbs 31:6 "give intoxicating liquor, you people, to the one about to perish and wine to those who are bitter of soul.
let one drink and forget one's poverty and let one remember one's own trouble no more.".
does anyone here know how to integrate this idea with the other scriptures on alcohol?.

Isaiah 56:12 is my favorite
"Come, men!Let me take some wine;and let us drink intoxicating liquor to the limit. And tomorrow will certainly turn out just as today, great in a very much larger way."

In 1995,the PO in our hall used to say to me he couldn't see it last another 5 years.
Still waiting...

Be Gentle With Me - Virgin Poster
by TheEdge inchanced upon this website a few days ago, and perhaps spent most of my waking hours (since then) reading, and certainly identifying with, quite a lot of it.
i have also learned a few things i was unaware of - i know this is ''old hat'' to all of you, but i wasn't aware of the un ngo thing.. i was saddened reading many posts - mostly trying to get human compassion (from elders who hold the trump cards - dealt by....?).
i read with interest josephus's post no.313, and goldminer's 1st posting - both drawing attention to how lives have been wasted due to false prohesy - and i thought (after reading how the society is claiming compensation for surviving - or dead!

Welcome TheEdge,
I'm from northern Ontario,Canada.I'm fairly new here and I find it amazing that many people from all over the world have similar jw experiences, especially about the general lack of love and the high ratio of depressed jw's.I hope to someday write my complete story,I have some very interesting stuff to tell, for now,I'm still hanging low....you know, too much family problems.
Anyways, stick around, lots of smart people here, and quite a few with a good sense of humour also,so enjoy yourself .
