  Never ending JWism.....AAAgh!

  did you , when you were a 'proper' jw, or even a jw of any description, believe that after armageddon you wouldn't have to go to the meetings and out on field service anymore?

  surely, after armageddon the control and work from jehovah would get even greater and the nightmare of being a jw would truly never end.. do you get my drift or have i had too much merlot?.

  i ask this because my father told me that 'they' needed all these new khs for when the dead are resurrected and they have to look after them and study with them.

  Armageddon is just the beginning of more JWism.

  You'll still have to attend all 5 meetings to learn new stuff.No more door-to-door,but constant bible studies with resurrected ones,might even have to still put in your time.And don't forget to get at least 10 hours even though you're working 50 hours a week like a dog to clean up the earth,while the elders are sitting in their trailer offices writing up your work schedule for next week.

  But don't forget,you'll be so happy,teaching others about the wtbts that preached the "truth" before armageddon,and working at a job you love more than any job you had in the old world,except now you get no paycheque and you are just gushing with happiness.

  No more congregational politics,nepotism,favoritism,looking down on others,judging,frustration,hypocrisy,sex scandals,money scandals,disfellowshippings,funerals that promote the WTS,lazy witnesses.....on and on....blah,blah,blah.

  No one's home?

  i was just remembering back to when i was around 13 years old or so.

  my friend, who was 15, and i were both pretty sick and tired of field service.

  we tried to work together as much as possible and one summer we worked almost exclusively alone as door-to-door partners.

  In our congo. the big thing was mini-vans that could sit up to 7 people...for a 2 hour service morning.So with all the driving and a few rv's in there,some people only got out once for a not-at-home.Sit there,shoot the shit,act spiritual,feign disapointment for not having a productive meeting and head off home with 2 easy hours(2.5 if you left early and got back a little late).

  Same bull next week.....

  Do you hate dressing up?

  i can't stand wearing suits for anything.

  i wore them so much while i was a jw that i prefer to never wear another one as long as i live.

  hell, i wore jeans at my wedding!.

  I work in a mine so I like to put my suit on once in a while,I look more like a banker than a miner,and my wife thinks I look great dressed up.I wouldn't want to do it everyday though.

  JW young people...on the move...to where?

  my experience as a jw teenager was total repression and control from my parents and i know that the majority of my friends at that age in the congregations suffered the same.. now...what's happening?!.

  i come home and find a regular full time pioneer smooching with my non jw son on the sofa.. i"m reliably told that jw youngsters are in the local pub after each meeting and have to be thrown out at chuck out time.. they seem to behave in a far worse way that some non bible believing youngsters that i know.. are they finally feeling their feet and the wtbts due a huge exodus in the next few years?.

  i'm slightly embarrassed at the behaviour of some of these youngsters when i'm told what they've been seen getting up to.. or am i just getting old?

  I see those same attitudes up here.The elders kids get away with a lot,I had even noticed a few years back that when the elders' sons moved they all got in some kind of trouble.

  One 19 year old here told me about all the drunkeness,fornicating,smoking,drug-use among the young jw's.The problem with all that is some think that's how it is in the "world" all the time,so when they can't keep up that lifestyle they return to their vomit-WTS-and try to be happy.If only they took it more mellow on the outside instead of going all gung-ho and stupid they would see it's not all that bad and life really is better outside the borg.

  What upset you about your past in the org?

  personnally, what upset me the most is all the wasted time.

  i'm now 21 years old, you'll say that i'm still young but i know someone you were at the same elementary school than me and she's now in university.

  All the conditional friendships and the self-righteousness of some family members.

  Also the mentality that the GB are practically infallible and everything they say is coming directly from jehovah.

  One time the PO told us that the elders sometimes received material(letters) that were secret,and the CO had info that was secret,and the DO had info that was secret and the FDS had info that was secret...on and on and this was all jehovah's arrangement.Not too many people believed him,what a crock.

  How about the one that the CO comes to the congregation with encouragement from bethel that he imparts upon the elders who in turn impart it upon the pioneers who in turn impart it upon the rest of the brothers and sisters.Well,I tell ya,there wasn't much encouragement left when it got to the bottom of the barrel to us lowly amah-arets.

  Mindless Meetings and Bored Dubs

  "we'd like to excuse those that have talks in the second school, and those that would like to listen.".

  alright, so i am sitting at the meeting last week and i hear that very typical repetitive announcement.

  i start to look around and i realize that it is the same people every week who go to the back to sit in the second school.

  same general attittudes up here in northern ontario towards the meetings.isn't it amazing how jw's really are the same all over?

  hey,and what about the service arrangements? in our hall,it was like a funeral service,no laughing or boisterous chatting,everybody just sat quietly like they were gonna be punished if they said something.then when the car arrangements were being made everybody who didn't have previous arrangements would just cringe at who they might be stuck with.

  What was your favorite thing about service?

  i used to love break time.

  especially if it was afternoon service, and we stopped at taco bell.

  i used to be damn good at eating tacos in the car without spilling anything.

  Declining Meeting Attendance-CO visit

  so we have our circuit overseer this week.

  we're getting the crap kicked out of us (figuratively) for our meeting attendance.

  we have attendance in the 70% range for some of our meetings.

  Hey Puternut,

  Sounds like a CO we had here a few years ago.Yhought he was all that and a bag o' chips.Some elders would actually take their holidays when he came to make sure they were at all the meetings.He asked me if I could take my 4-12 shift off so I could go listen to his talk....NO! After a while he said "I know some people are staying home because I'm here".Hahaha...I was one of them.

  As far as attendance,it is down drastically in this area,at least 30% at the circuit assemblies and seems to be declining steadily.
