The JW's are truly an intriguing religion. The ability of their hierarchy to issue decrees with the appropriate semantics and convoluted logic is really a wonder to behold....a study in intellectual perversity, actually, as the R&F march off to do their master's bidding, completely oblivious to the "plank" they are walking. It should be known as the "Hannibal Lechter" religion for its ability to mask its nefarious machinations with a cherubic face.

When you left the JWs did you keep their publications?
by White Waves ini threw everything away except the bible (which i now know is crap), the songbook and reasoning from the scriptures ( to use against them... primarily the conversation stopper part).
so many posters seem be able to access jw info easily and quote it... i wonder if i should have kept everything.
at the time, it was a way to start over and commit to never going back.

We had the former female singer for the group Chubby & the Turnpikes in our congo. She left the group to become a JW. They later re-named themselves Tavares (Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, More Than a Woman, It Only Takes a Minute). I heard she's now living hardscrabble in Florida somewhere...still a JW, too.

Yup. It's the only way I could convince others to leave. The Society's own words do them in.

Here's a kingdumb melody by Van Morrison for the new song book:
Van Morrison - Kingdom Hall
So glad to see you
So glad you're here
Come here beside me now
We can clear inhibition away
All inhibitions
Throw them away
And when we dance like this
Like we've never been dancin' before
Chorus:
Oh, they were swingin'
Down at Kingdom Hall
Oh, bells were ringin'
Down at the Kingdom Hall
A choir was singin'
Down at the Kingdom Hall
Hey, liley, liley, liley
Hey, liley, liley, low
Do do do do do do, do
Do do do do do do
Do do do do do do, do
Do do do do do do
Good body music
Brings you right here
Free flowin' motion now
When we're shakin' it out on the floor
Good rockin' music
Down in your shoes
And when we dance like this
Like we've never been dancin' before
[Chorus]
Down at the Kingdom Hall
They were havin' a party
They were havin' a ball
Bells were ringing out
And the choir was singin'
Hey, liley, liley, liley
Hey, liley, liley, low
Do do, do do, do do, do do
Sugar was there
Did you see Sugar
Down at the Kingdom Hall
Sugar was tough
